On this week's show, I demonstrate how to use your cell phone and a simple scrap wood frame to fabricate your own, shop made digital angle gauge for your table saw blade or work tables. I hope you enjoy the show.
If you haven't already, please consider liking and subscribing to the channel. I have an incredible audience base here on the show and I'm hoping that you will consider becoming a part of that community.
As always, I want to thank you for taking the time to stop by the channel and tune in to today's episode. It is truly appreciated.

I've been after a tilt box angle finder for some time. My my country the important freight is more expensive than the box itself. I'm definitely going to be making one of these - absolutely gold idea

The shipping costs are sometimes the deal breaker when it comes to purchasing some items for the shop. This frame to hold your phone is economical and works great. Good luck on your project and thanks for tuning in to the show.

Kenny, brilliant! I have used the level app on my phone many time but never with the added stability of the frame. I can see what I will be doing soon. I have a tilt box device too but it's nice to have a secondary confirmation. Great job!!!! See ya next week.

Isn't technology fantastic, even better when it can be used in multiple ways and this is a prime example ... simple but extremely useful project 👍 BTW, why did you need to zero your inclinometer at 15:50? It's a bit worrying that after a few uses it suddenly showed that your table was at 0.15 degrees!

You have to keep in mind Barry, that the tilt box is WAY more accurate than a phone level and while the phone shows the table as level at 0 degrees, the tilt box detects a .15 degree variation from level. The tilt box is able to detect this tiny discrepancy whereas the phone level app is not. In most cases, a difference of .15 degrees is not going to make or break a project. I hope this make sense. Thanks for tuning in.

@@acutabove_woodworkings Ignoring the phone, tilt box on table @14:00 showed 0.00 degrees, @14:01 blade tilted to 7.05 degrees, @14:31 to 10.05 degrees, @ 15:24 blade back to upright and when you put the box back on the table @15:52 it read 0.15 degrees ... so a 0.15 degree difference just by moving it a few times. I agree that it wouldn't make much of a difference at first, but if the error kept increasing and you didn't notice then it would 👍

@@barry.w.christie I think you might be overanalyzing this one. Some of these segments are filmed over longer periods of time and are not filmed in one continuous take. This means that the tilt box was turned off (automatically) and re-energized several times over the period of testing this angle gauge. When the tilt box is re-energized, the settings of the unit are reset and it will read the values from its internal zero parameters. The testing segment is edited and pieced together from several different clips at several different time periods so there is bound to be some resetting and zeroing out of the tilt box. It isn't a fault of the unit. I hope this clears it up.

The phone app is anything but spot on. It only accurate to +/- 0.5 degrees. I've never found the other angle finder all that great either. For me, I prefer to use an accurate square between the table top and the blade to get my 90 degree setting.

@@terryreed1421 If that is the method that you prefer, then by all means, that is the method that you should use. Thanks for tuning in.
