3D printers are an outstanding compliment to a woodworking shop! From printing handles for drawers, to flipstops like you made, to radius roundover templates, etc. There are so many uses that quickly and easily expand what you can do with your existing tools. It is like any skill, the more you use it, the more you see where you can use it.

Hi Chris, yes totally, it keeps on giving. I've been printing adaptors for my various bits of kit lately to take a Festool hose, its saved me loads so far. 👍

Hi John, yes indeed, I've been known to chuck the odd mouldy off a cliff myself from time to time. The 3d printer is fabo for servo mounts etc.

I had a similar problem with my mitre saw station. I made T track by cutting a slot in one side of rectangular hollow aluminium tube. ( I did that on the table saw) Then I made a small sliding “car” with a flange to run along the slot, fitted a small bolt for a lock and then a L shaped hinged drop down stop. The scales are mounted in a shallow recessed dado on the vertical face, one left to right and the other right to left. Simple to make and works like a charm

Now you just need to add a measuring tape to the fence and make it so the flip stop can be somewhat easily calibrated......if you are going to keep the radial arm I mean.

Another very interesting video it’s nice to make you own products to achieve your own specific requirements ,whether I would ever get into 3-D printing I think I would much rather get someone else to do that for me but still very interesting . on a side note I’ve mentioned to you before I was looking for it sliding table saw I’ve managed to get one on eBay with the added advantage of a thicknesser /planer and a spindle moulder Its lovely little combination machine so happy it’s been stood in a garage for a few years need a little bit of TLC to get the cast-iron rust free but it’s a nice little project

Check out the "Blum Ruler Swivel Stop" I used to work at a cabinet shop and they're awesome because you don't even have to move them out of the way they just swing away or stay depending if it's push from the front or side. They're precise enough for most things woodworking. Nobody's made knockoff's on KZbin.

New subscriber, I'm enjoying your work. I'm looking forward to seeing how you use 3D printing to complement your woodworking. I have ordered a 3D printer, never used one before, but I do have an engineering background. I aim to use it to create templates and patterns, parts of jigs, and couplings for my dust collection system. I come from a land down under, It takes weeks to get hold of stuff, even from the other side of this (admittedly very large) country, so I figure I can learn to make a part quicker than I can get hold of a bought one! And then if I need more of the same..... I hope you won't be offended if I comment that your accent reminds of the poet Pam Ayres.

Hi Barry, thank you and welcome to the channel. As to the accent, I try very hard not to allow the accent to take over and become more prominent than the English,,, but its still there. I quite like Pam Ayres, so not at all. 😁😎

Hey G, this is just me being a pain in the arse, but didn’t you just make a hinge? it does seem (at first glance) that a fat brass door hinge might have fit the bill … lol seriously though : I too have used 3D printing to solve small problems, the biggest drawback is how long it takes … which printer did you use? I have a Prusa but I’m considering a resin version as the print time is greatly reduced … looking forward to your 3D printer exposition!
@GTWoodshop
@GTWoodshop 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Marino, you're dea right, a brass hinge would have done the same job, but that would have been easy, and not really videoable. Resin version, Hmmmm??
@marinoagallo
@marinoagallo 3 жыл бұрын
@@GTWoodshop it would have been if you set the right lighting in the shop, imported some VERY dramatic music and used copious amounts of closeups of tools cutting metal in slo-mo … lol which makes me wonder if there's something in a series of videos geared to to the small starters, like myself, concerning stripped workaround solutions? granted, 3D printing IS a viable workaround … have you checked out Thingiverse for downloadable, ready-to-print files? … resin printers are used by movie studios because of superior resolution and much shorter print times, there's a wide range out there and I'm looking at an Australian company called Frozen that makes a nearly affordable one …
