Thank you for this. We have been building a hypercube evolution core xy for our Makerspace and you just saved us a bunch of time because the wiring phase is the next step in our build and we didn't know about this. Thumbs up.

Thank you very much for this video. You gave me the last push I needed to get my version of the S.T.E.V.E. corexy printer printing (KUDOS to Adam Meadows for his great design). I used two identical stepper motors with flipped connectors. Going into marlin I set the following in configuration.h (using Arduiuo) // Invert the stepper direction. Change (or reverse the motor connector) if an axis goes the wrong way. #define INVERT_X_DIR false #define INVERT_Y_DIR true #define INVERT_Z_DIR false and I am off and running. It's amazing how this 3d printer community is helping so many fellow tech-oriented folks.

Thank you for this, my brother bought a TronXY x5sa and could not figure out why it was trying to home the Y axis in the wrong direction. He changed the X/Y cables and its fixed.

Thanks to your help I got my mind around it! Glad you approve, as I was little nervous as to what Can was going to think of this as I am still a babe in the woods when it comes to Core X/Y but must say I am sold now on this being a superior printer design. A project I am thinking about doing is installing accelerometers on the print head to map the applied inercia of its movement. Your thoughts?

so if you are able to move between the axis correctly then you are wired correctly? or is it even a possibly to move between the axis correctly and be wired wrong?

Trying to sort myself with Core XY, Can't swap pins, can only mod Marlin actually and using old cables that came with the Ender itself, Basically i made a conversion following a printables page ENG by RH3D, but i can't find a way to get my axis to move correctly, I mean i told machine to auto home it tries to get into the back left corner so x0 y235, but, doesn't work correctly

not trying to be a troll but NEMA is a standard and all NEMA motors should be plug and play, so with that said it would seem the wirng harness you upgraded to was wired wrong and that was the real issue but very informative video
@DIY3DTECHcom
@DIY3DTECHcom 6 жыл бұрын
The plugs are the same yes, however you need to swap the order of the wires to reverse the motor since its a Core X/Y the motors must work together and not separately...

You don't need that mumbo jumbo. All you gotta do is label them before you take 'em apart. If new set of cables don't match the original sequence ,you can easily pop cables out and switch the pins accordingly. If you have already taken apart keep switching cables. In worst possible scenario you'll end up trying 8 times. Lastly, you should learn how to pronounce Can's name :)

Thanks for commenting, yet you might have missed the point as if your assembling them from scratch there is nothing to label so you have to solve that. Also this is the norm as I didn't invent anything here just explained it a little better and with maybe a littler more detail. Please keep in mind not all people have the same views as yourself and they also learn and consume information differently. Therefore I attempted to create something for the masses and not the individual :-)

If you upgrade Nema 17's to 23's would the extra holding torque allow you to print faster because of less effect on print head momentum and fewer steps skipping?
@laharl2k
@laharl2k 6 жыл бұрын
or you can just add 2 more motors instead of the iddlers in the other 2 corners....

So, either way would help?
@DIY3DTECHcom
@DIY3DTECHcom 6 жыл бұрын
I have no clue on that one, as at a certain point the inertia of the hot end whipping around will become an issue.

Yes, eventually, at a certain speed, but maybe help some possibly. Just popped in my head, so I figured I'd ask. Glad to see your Open SCAD page growing rapidly, I've been meaning to learn that.

Yea that one (i.e. the larger motors) is a bit beyond me. Also hope you enjoy the open SCAD stuff and any question just ask!

you could sand the keys off the plugs.
@DIY3DTECHcom

Thanks for comment and did consider this as you sort of could however two thing to keep in mind in doing, the first is the pins are offset a bit so flipping means yo will have to bend the pins up and (2) its now possible for them vibrate lose in operation.
@Livingstonshoedios
@Livingstonshoedios 6 жыл бұрын
indeed indeed, good point, i had failed to consider the offset.

You been sneaking a look at my notebook? As thanks for sharing and yes have seen this, he does a VERY detailed job in explaining the math (he has a couple on the topic). In fact since getting it (the Tronxy) I have become a convert and believe the CoreX/Y mode is the ultimate mode for FDM printing because of the way it handles the inertia of the head.
CoreXY explained: Comparison + strengths & weaknesses
