Hi Noemi, the little red hairy fruit that you captioned “I wouldn’t want to swallow” is a Rambutan. You peel the shell Easily comes off, and the fruit inside is soft, and tastes like lychee fruit. Your boys will love it. The big giant one that you thought looked like an old pumpkin, with the sharp pointed shell, is a Durian. It’s known as the king of fruit. It is very interesting because it really stinks. There’s no way to describe the smell, kind of like sulfur BUT when you cut it open, and it is very ripe it tastes like creamy custard. It is one of the best fruits you can eat. Super high in Iron, potassium and Vitamin C! There are Durian festivals in SE Asia, but because it’s stinky there are even laws against bringing them on buses! Lol You have to make sure you eat it very ripe otherwise it will just be bitter and stinky. But when it’s ripe it’s like eating natural pudding, SO yummy!!

Hi! Jz found your blog n trying to see all the videos. Love your simplicity. For the dragon fruit, it is easier to cut into 2 or 4, then you can remove the skin easily by pulling it away from the flesh. No need to use the peeler. Also, green papaya is not ripe. You can cook soup with it or make pickles. Best is buy the ripe one which is orange in colour. It is a nice fruit. You can peel the skin n cut into small pieces or you can cut straight away length wise into 8-10 slices. Use a spoon to scoop the flesh n eat. You can plant the seeds to grow papaya tree. Quite easily grown. The red hairy small round fruit is rambutan. Just peel the skin n eat the fruit inside. Discard seed. Hope you try these Asian fruits. They are delicious.

OMG! I'm one of the newer subs, and after seeing Uwajimaya, I'm like, wait the minute! I go there once a year because I live in the East side of Portland and there are numerous Asian grocery markets nearby where I'm at--one of them being Fubonn--so if it's going to be a special occasion for me to drive across to the West side like that (okay, sometimes I visit my parents who live closer to that area as well) :D This is so cool! I only know you and one other youtuber living in Oregon :D Woot for having subbed to two local youtube celebs :D P.S. Thank you for the vlog! The one you saw, "Rambutan" the hairy red fruit, you gotta open it up and inside is such a sweet delish nom fruit. OMG. I need to go to Fubonn soon :)

Great video! Another way of cutting dragon fruit is to cut it in quarters then pull away the skin, it comes away very easily. Hairy red fruit is rambutan, inside is the fruit with a big seed in middle. We usually score round the fruit with a knife then pull away the red skin to eat the fruit inside.

Those longans are very delicious. The brown, small balls that you're going to use as decoration. And the red hairy fruits are called rambutan. It's originated from south east asia. Indonesia particularly. They also very delicious. Sweet. Almost loke longans but with a bit different texture. The word rambutan is from word rambut which means hair (hairy fruit), you should try them when you back to that asian grocery store. They are sooo good. Must try. And the spikey fruit as big as that melon is called durian. It's the king of fruit many people in South East Asia call them. They pungent. If you're not an adventurous foodie I don't recommend it. But for us, Indonesian people, they're also really delicious 😋

Oh this is my favorite one cuz I l'd like to explore more about your country including the healthy produce. I really hope one day I can travel there.. I'm Asian (Thailand) but living in California, I already ate all the Asian fruits in this video ha ha.., it reminds me of my home but actually now I like all kinds of local fruit and vegetable here especially berries & Kales, and I'm a nut lover . I don't do grocery shopping at Asian market here maybe b/c I know it all already, there're so much fun shopping food here no matter what I'm vegetarian.. I love Trader's Joe, Sprouts, wholefoods etc .. Thank you for this vid and I'm happy to see you guys working together, so lovely especially two boys ...Ha

At 615 that fruit is called Longan. Better eaten than for decoration. ha ha. It is very sweet, green grape like in taste, but not. It is one of my favorite fruits. It has a huge pit in the center, like an olive (but not). Try it!!!! Its only in season maybe twice a year. In any event, another great video. Thank you for all that you do.

Good video. Thought the asian store was cool. We do not have this kind of scale stores were I live. Btw, the green Papaya is edible and is supposed to be green and commonly used in the Thai cuisine (I was told this by the cook in our local Thai - who is fron Thailand). We had ordered Papaya Salad and were very astonished to see that we got something looking like cucumber, but tasting like a Papaya :).

Lovely video Noemi! I enjoyed so much. Maybe next time you go to Uwajimaya, pick up a pack of Natto beans to try. It's the best probiotic food I know of, but it's an acquired taste. Stir, stir the Natto, until long threads form, add mustard, maybe add honey, stir in vegetables like finely chopped green onion, onion, cucumber, etc, skip flavoring packets that come with package (they have msg), put over hot rice, wrap in roasted seaweed sheets (Costco sells organic ones, delicious!). The seaweed papers mask some unpleasant taste of fermented beans (Natto).

The watermelon radish I never heard of that is it sweet? Thank you so much for this vlog you showed a lot of things I never seen before. The kale chips is more crunchy that way try it 😃 Yes you can eat the dragon fruit like that but I think the other fruits banana and raspberry (even better then strawberry) bring out the taste and it colors them beautifully! It's a soft kiwi texture. The watermelon radish is sweet and little stingy for my thong but not more then the little red ones. It had a lot's of juice in it very crunchy! You have a great day Judy! 🤗🌷💜

I'm pretty sure there are recipes for different use I personally like the taste in smoothie and the color is pretty amazing. That is so helpful to watch how you shop! I’m used to the “American way” of preparing dinner. You have meat, then a carbohydrate, and a vegetable on your plate. Do you just cook a main dish and not worry about having side dishes that you have to try to coordinate and plan for?
