I don't use any of those things either, I hate (strong word I know) dishwashers, you have to wash the dishes first any way so why bother. It's so strange to see someone who thinks like me. Most people think I am strange, because I have been a minimalist all of my life. I only own what we use and nothing more. I have always been this way, I didn't know I was a minimalist until someone told me lol, I just thought it was just the way I am. Another great video, thanks😀

Reasons why I like a dishwasher: I have a large family that comes over often, sterilises dishes if we are sick. Otherwise, it's unnecessary for just my husband and myself.

Why in the world do you wash your dishes before they going into the dishwasher? What kind of machines do you have?

Thank you for all the awesome tips! My main takeaways for my personal lifestyle were: - To consider getting rid of my one-purpose/rarely items: toaster, coffee press, waffle maker, veggie dicer. I'm on the fence about the veggie dicer but am planning to donate the toaster, coffee press, and waffle maker :) - Digitalize recipes into binder and give away cookbooks - Use slowcooker/instapot (on slow cooking function) for breakfast and lunch - Simplify my cleaning supply (use multipurpose cleaners) - Consider getting a small kitchen garbage bin (use frozen food bags to hold garbage) - Use mason jars as containers and cups (get rid of extra cups)

I loved this video❤️about 15 years ago we had a house fire and lost about 98% of our things. This is what started me on looking at what I had and use everyday. We were a family of 7 but now it’s just us. We don’t have a dish washer I like washing dishes, and I also wash as I go. We don’t own a microwave, I heat up on my stove. I love the jars and glass containers for storage and food. I do use plastic bags or paper if I forget my bags, but I use them to clean out litter boxes. My husband several years ago bought 2 large white plates, 2 bowls, 2 black plates and 2 bowls and that’s what we use for our hot cereal, lunch, dinner each day. I have one set but I hardly use it. Since my husband cooks he loves his gadgets! My things i use everyday food processor, Vitamix , steamer, and I love our toaster oven. It has 2 shelves and if I want to keep the house cool I will roast the veggies in there. Our gas stove and oven is hot. Oh and 2 years ago my son and daughter in-law gave us a insta pot for our birthdays we use it every day. I cook beans, rice, chick peas, quinoa in it. I would like to down size some of our stuff more I’m working on it

Great video....recently found you and am hooked! I don't own a microwave as it was fitted into the kitchen, so when we moved last October we didn't buy a new one and don't need it. We cook on our hob or in slow cooker and if we want to reheat then we put it on a plate (or bowl), cover with another plate and stack it in a stainless steel steamer over a pan of water (we have reheated whole roast dinners like it!) and the plain clean hot water is used to wash up! We own a toaster but whilst moving (and it was packed) we toasted under the grill in the oven...when this toaster blows up, we won't be replacing it! We inherited a dishwasher, but hubby washes all pans so it takes days to fill it up! Likewise, when it breaks, we won't be replacing it! We have a compost bin, a bokashi bin (for cooked food, dairy, bones etc) and a 30 litre rubbish bin which hasn't been emptied since 6 August (now 26 December). We buy plastic free from a refill shop, greengrocers and recycle things that we can't yet buy plastic free...we cook everything (meals, breads, biscuits (cookies), yoghurt) from scratch, freeze leftovers or use then immediately for lunch the next day. Never owned a waffle machine (make pancakes) or popcorn machine (use a pan) and we use homemade orange vinegar (orange peels soaked in white vinegar) to clean everything. We are environmentally conscious, but is there anything anyone thinks we could be doing better or differently as we are keen to learn, be healthy and leave as light a footprint on the earth as we can...thank you Noemi xx

I love your channel. Thanks for the tips and for sharing your life with us all. This is what I have and don't have in my kitchen. I don't use my dishwasher, I use it for storage I have a popcorn maker, lol, we don't own a microwave, I have a toaster, we don't have a coffee maker, I have a coffee strainer, I own one set of 8 dishes. I own 4 cookbooks, I don't use tgem, I normally get things on line, I use minimal utensils, I have a waffle maker cause I make lots of things with it, I don't use one time use products except for parchment paper, I don't have a juicer, but I want a vitamin, I don't have a pressure maker, but I have a rice cooker, slow cooker, and food processor. I have like 3 plastic containers, I use glass containers to store food. I only use Method brand products and apple cider vinegar, baking soda, and lemon juice, I do have garbage bag but I want to reduce to 1 13 gal.bag per week. I use ceramic for cooking, stainless steel or cast iron, I don't have useless kitchen gadgets either. I have 4 coffee mugs. I use glass cups or mason jars. I don't have paper or plastic products.

Thanks Noemi! We don’t have a microwave or a dishwasher too. We stopped buying trash bags a little over a year now and just reuse the bags from things We buy in bulk from Costco. I find it ridiculous to put empty bags into bags adding more plastic to our already overwhelming landfills. It’s great to know we’re not the only ones. 😊 You reminded me that things have changed and I need to do another declutter of the kitchen. 🦋

I am happy to say that recently, when I had my own new kitchen made without a dishwasher, I gave away my coffeemaker, & microwave, & many of my extra kitchen items. I also live without a popcorn maker, toaster, waffle maker, cookie jar, or pressure cooker. I love your idea with the binder for your favourite recipes... I think I will work on making one of those. I am going to give away one of my sets of dinnerware. I do have to keep my juicer as I make a lot of juice and put in jars in my freezer... My Omega slow juicer is very easy to clean.

This was really interesting. I find that I am more minimal than most around me but not quite as minimal as you! I probably won't replace my microwave that is 25 years old when it breaks, not for health reasons, but I don't cook in it except to steam things or warm them up and I can do that in a pan. Plus now we are only two people at home. I used to use it for quick porridge but since we went low-carb that and other stuff like a toaster is no longer a need. I'm working on not replacing things where possible. My husband sometimes objects, though, as he enjoys cooking and wants to keep some things I would get rid of. I and my daughters have all struggled without dishwashers, however now I am older I find I quite enjoy keeping up with manually washing dishes, and in our holiday home I don't miss a dashwasher any more! How many pots and pans do you have, Noemi? My MIL was horrified that I am happy with two saucepans, a casserole pan and a frying pan, plus a tiny pan I used for baby food way back... They are all heavy quality Swiis pans and still like new after 30 years! Even as a family of five, this was perfectly adequate together with a couple of pyrex oven dishes. I do always have an electric kettle (very British!) that is really useful, even though I could heat water in a pan. Part of my interest is because we sail and you really don't need much!! If I ever get to redo my kitchen, I want fewer burners (2 or 3 instead of 4) and a smaller drawer-type fridge, that would be plenty. Most things really don't need to be refrigerated. A French lady has written a book about doing without a fridge 👍 Sorry if my comment is too long 😳

Oh that fridge thing sound so interesting! I have a very minimal selection on pot and pans too and I love them and I'm suspecting we have a similar mine is a Swiss zepter and I have them fro over 20 years still like brands new. I just realized we needed a bigger pot because my boys are eating more. I don't mind washing dishes either specially in the winter it warms up my hands 😃🤗😊💟🌸

I really liked this video :-) can relate to so much - don't have a microwaves (and it's been a discovery learning I could live without one!), I avoid using the garlic presser so I won't have to wash it (still keep it though...), and I don't buy garbage bags because I reuse the ones from shopping (my rubbish bin is nice and small, so as you said won't stay for long and start to smell). I hope I can reduce my utensils to as little as yours and start to use glass containers more and more. Those Le Parfait jars are so pretty. I look forward to seeing a video on how to dress tables with simple natural things, it was only a short clip but it looked lovely :-)

For the dishwasher , I have a "cube" one it's really small and it works great for few items , but the pots don't fit in it , so I wash them by hand . It's very old and I am in the wander , if I should replace it with big one , or eliminate it and safe some space in our tiny kitchen ...

Instant pot! It’s a pressure cooker AND slow cooker AND you can even sauté in there! Mine is a 7 in 1! I use it all the time and it’s so easy to clean and so fast! I love to cook too but saves so much time!

Hi Noemi, I loved this video! I have a dishwasher but I don’t use it. It’s much quicker to wash after every meal. I have a toaster. I wish I didn’t eat so much toast! I agreed with everything else except I have cats and they like their food warmed up so the microwave stays. 😻 I’m thinking of selling my kitchen aid mixer. I don’t use it very much. Love, love your videos 💜

Such a good video Noemie! I liked that you gave real solutions and explanations for each item. I laughed at tbe garlic press because I've just moved back in with my mother for a few months and I was so happy she had her (trusty old) garlic press! I hate mincing it by hand and I hate cleaning the box grater (we have one for cheese mainly) 😁 Have a great day!

Great video,i am trying desperately to minimise my kitchen, have a husband who loves kitchen gadgets and doesn't want to see them go,even though I do all the cooking (totally by choice,as I love to cook) virtually all of our gadgets i don't use...some i find essential such as blender and food processor..absolutely agree about dishwasher however..completely unnecessary

Thanks for the video!! Food for thought, it helps me as I currently decluttering my home and giving things through associations... But .... I think I will keep my garlic tool, because since I have discovered this thing, I put more garlic in my food ;) So here it is a winner!! Have a nice day

This video has been so helpful. I’m definitely interested in a video about getting rid of a microwave. I’ve been slowly pairing my kitchen down. We just got rid of quite a bit including the coffee pot. I would add I thing you’d love a pressure cooker. I was on the fence for a year about getting one and I decided I had to get rid of 50% of my things in the kitchen so I could fit one. I finally was able to get on last Nov. and I love it. I just got rid of my slow cooker and a few other items since the pressure cooker is an 8 in 1 item.
