Some serious furniture shopping in IKEA! I kind of have a love-hate relationship with IKEA. I love that I can get pretty much everything I need in IKEA. I also like to walk through their example homes and imagine if my home was like that. But, it always takes all my energy to visit IKEA :D Have you had similar experiences? Btw if you have any tips for furniture shopping in Beijing, please share with us!

Hello Kaisa, I also have this image of IKEA being located somewhere a bit outside town, having a huge parking space and lots of stuff. However, I think they're using a lot of marketing strategies, like that part of assembling something on your own. Although you're putting in some efforts - sometimes you even struggle - that gives you a sort of personal satisfaction making keen on returning back. That's actually a wise IKEA strategy, like the one of constantly changing the places of their products just to make you wander around. Anyway, hope to see you in another video. Take care :)

Hi André, you’re right, IKEA has got some really smart marketing strategies. For instance, placing hotdogs right after the cashier is a smart strategy. People are so hungry after shopping and wandering around 😆

Moi, in Asia (for example China and Vietnam) food and other things are delivered easily and cheap via apps. And I love it! Now it's easier but not so popular and even expensive here in Finland :(

Nice video, I basically get my furnitures from the internet shop, like JD, except for the need of a brand new house, cause you always either pay super high price or get so many thing that you actually don’t need in real store like IKEA.

Hey I would recommend u set up WeChat pay or Alipay ... it’s so much more convenient. Also it probably charges some fees to pay through foreign credit card.
@kaisaa4318
@kaisaa4318 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I have both WeChat pay and Alipay. If I buy anything bigger than just everyday shopping, I would use my foreign credit card as I still need to transfer money from my Finnish bank account to a Chinese bank account and the transfer is also not free. Using a foreign credit card is quite affordable option abroad, but the downside is that many shops don't accept foreign credit cards in China.

What a coincidence, I just saw your multilingual video and I was wondering if you thought about going back to Beijing for the law firm again. Viola, your latest video is IKEA in CHINA. I got a question, How did you adapt to life in China? 我在美国长大;想回去中国。但是他们都觉得我是个老外。 It makes me feel like I'm unappreciated; As if I'm a foreigner in my own motherland. I went back last year twice and the cab driver tried to take me for a spin as if I'm stupid, kinda disheartening experience for me.

Thanks for your comment and sorry to hear about your bad experience with the taxi driver. I have had some really bad experiences with taxi drivers in China as well. I have adapted to life in China quite well by now, but I still find life in China like being in a rollercoaster, there are ups and downs every day or sometimes multiple times per day. Somehow the positive experiences still count more and make the life in China so attractive and exciting. I hope you have better experiences in China next time!
