First shopcast I've seen in a while and it was wonderful!! I'm already looking through my J&S stash to find accessory KAL yarn. Rachel, thank you for sharing your Christmas morning video and that jacket design was AMAZING!! I thought it was, by far, the most beautiful and functional piece in the running. I'm so impressed with the practical genius of your idea, the pattern you designed, the way you knit up the pieces to specification (in just a week?!); but I loved the joy on your face when you saw it for the first time on display most of all! Brilliant work!

I enjoyed all of this video and also want to send a comment to Rachel, with a giant thank you, I almost feel like I am there with you, due to the natural style of your video clip. When the chorus was singing carols, I felt such a wave of common-humanity-love that transcends borders and culture. It was so deeply moving, and I just thank you for that sweet moment. At our core, humanity really is the same, and I just hope that we can all wake up and realize how alike we all are, and to also delight in our diversity as well. Life is short. Let's make it sweet.

I appreciated the comment / question on the video about yarn twisting as you knit. I just learned a FABULOUS tip, since I often knit from cakes, even using the outside strand, it still twists a lot. I learned it from youtuber: Nimble Needles. You can put your cake onto your Lazy Kate posts, and so when you pull the yarn off the outside, your cake will spin around, and this eliminates the twist as you knit with it. Genius !!! I am loving this little hack so much.

Wow, I LOVED seeing Rachel's exciting journey and her jacket submission for Barbour was far and away my favorite, though us knitters may be biased. I understand it was a competition with Vogue, so they went with the more "fashion-y" one but when it comes to investing in a timeless, sustainable piece, I think it makes far more sense to buy Rachel's design. I hope that the news she gets to share in the future is that they will be putting her piece into production as well!

Thanks to Corinne and Maggie for another uplifting and inspiring session. I want it all!!

What a great episode, and WOW Rachel’s jacket design was breathtaking! I loved your conversation this week about process vs product knitting. I’ve been trying to live by your mantra of “all knitting is good knitting” and focus a bit more on the process of making, but I still feel sometimes like I could use an extra pair of arms to make all the beautiful woolly things. I’m getting ready to cast on the Varde sweater in Rauma Finull, which should be perfect for this very cold weekend!

I just found your podcast and spent all morning watching. I've signed up for your newsletter and joined the facebook group. I added the Vanilla Sweater to my cart, but shipping is VERY expensive to Canada so removed it. Anyway, I'll enjoy watching your podcasts and the wonderful clips from Rachel

Happy New Year! Congratulations to Rachel and thanks for sharing your fiber journey. All the Norwegian goodies look fabulous. Speaking of books, I am curious to know if you as a shop owner can locate the book "Knitting with Icelandic Wool" It contains about 62 wonderful patterns, but is hard to find. Thanks for all your hard work, it is invaluable!

I feel so blessed in this uncertain time of hunkering down to have my online knitting family. Thank you both for working so hard to bring the woolly goodness to us. Looking forward to the KAL and getting my first order ❤️.

Corinne, I adore your bonnet design and will definitely want to join in the KAL with it - I hope I can improve my colorwork skills with it (still a little confused about color dominance eek!). Maggie you ought to be proud of your sweater - it's just incredible. And congratulations to Rachel on her Barbour jacket - I can't believe that you knit all that colorwork in ONE WEEK?! Thank you for another wonderful shopcast - I always walk away having learned something new, and wanting to acquire something new lol!

I missed your shopcast during the holiday break, so glad you are back! I was also so excited about the new arrivals, I got out of bed multiple times in the middle of the night to place an order on the buttons and ribbon, thinking they may be available at midnight (is there a certain time items are added to the shop?). I really enjoyed this episode and liked the information about needle felting the steek. I am preparing to make my first steek on a cardigan I am working on and familiar with needle felting, so I am going to try it! I love that I am always learning new skills and getting inspired when watching your shop cast and being a part of the Woolly Thistle group. Thanks so much!

Exceptional Shopcast! I am blown away by your Defiant Cardigan, Maggie! Congratulations! Corinne, I will be signing up for the 2022 Colourwork Accessories KAL and am looking forward to knitting your Balvonie Bonnet. I have three skeins of Biches & Bûche Le Petit Lambswool in my stash (2 skeins Medium Blue, 1 Off White) just waiting for my first project with this beautiful yarn. I love the design and look of the Balvonie Bonnet and am sure it will be a fun knit as well. Hearty congratulations also go to Rachel for her success in the Barbour Wax for Life competition! Well done. I was so looking forward to a new Shopcast and this one exceeded my expectations. Thank you so much!

I loved seeing the snow scenes to begin the show, but the sound of the wind in Rachel's video just brought it all home. It is a hearty human to endure that type of cold in the elements. And then she is a finalist in a contest?? Wow. An amazing woman! I want all the woolly goodness in the shop, but know I'm not young anymore.. One question: how does the new Rauma sock yarn compare to the Finull? If the same in softness then it must be delightful. Thank you for a lovely start to my morning.

What a wonderful episode! I love the Norwegian focus, and will now be scrutinizing patterns for how well they’ll work with those beautiful hook closures. I am looking forward to the colorwork KAL - I might go for an ebba hat, or a buness tam - or the wonderful new pattern from Corinne. For Rachel: I’m curious how long she has been a crofter, and how she came into her particular croft. Happy new year!

My question for her is what does she do with the wool from her sheep? Thanks for a lovely chat.

The perfect start to my Friday, knitting on a Felix pullover and watching a new Woolly Thistle shop cast! What fun to see Maggie wearing a Felix sweater as I am knitting on one. What an inspirational shopcast! After this, I now have 4 more projects added to my to do list - including those lovely hats you showcased. You have also given me inspiration to correct a mistake I just made with my victory cardigan. I mistakenly completed one of the button bands in the smaller needle size. Ugh!! My inclination was to just move on and be done with it. I will be ripping it out today after I heard your words ‘no one ever regrets ripping it out and redoing’. Thank you!

Thank you for watching Katherine! And yes, definitely redo that button band. If you aren't happy with it now you won't be later so best to just get it fixed and be happy with it!

I really enjoyed watching this morning with a cup of tea and my dog curled in my lap working on the sleeve of my Victory Sweater. Where to start? Maggie’s defiant sweater is amazing! I can’t wait to see her wearing it. I love the new hat pattern that Corrine created. I’ll have to go through my stash to pick some yarns. I’m very excited for the annual color work accessory knot a long. It was also fabulous to visit with Rachel. That Barbour jacket she designed looks amazing and is definitely the one that I would choose!!! A question for next time: what’s it like farming in the winter when the nights are so long and the days are short?

This was such a interesting pod cast with all the new yarns, knit-along to come, patterns and books! I am so happy for Rachel and the adventure she had with the competition, congats!!! Question: there is a lack of trees in Shetland, is that because of the wind? Looking forward to the new Balvonie pattern Corinne. Cheers to the New Year!

What a fun episode! Love seeing Maggie's progress on Defiant - really impressive work. I always think I am both a process and product knitter. I love both the knitting and the wearing/using, but have to admit I love knitting pi shawls, but never wear them. I have found I can use them as throws, though :). Rachel's video was amazing, as always! I so loved her design and think she should have won - can't wait to find out the next step!
