Great video Greg! Thanks for sharing the differences between the different platforms. I personally love selling on a massive marketplace like Etsy which already has a large customer base. The only downside is you're at the mercy of Etsy that's why I feel like it is extremely important to diversify and also sell on different platforms like Shopify! Thanks for another extremely informative video!

Thanks for this video Greg. I made the mistake of commingling 2 niches (think 500 Level and Elevated Faith) in a Shopify site and totally dismissed the challenges of active POD. I'm going to regroup and try both niches in 2 distinct storefronts on these passive sites. I'll reconsider going the Shopify route should either get good traction (hoping to create a Christian Apparel brand in the near future).

I may have missed it, but did this video cover profit comparisons? For instance, if I sell a shirt on teepubic, I get a dollar. Is there a typical Shopify payout for something as simple as a one-sided print tee-shirt?

Hi Greg, if I use Printful + Shopify to sell POD products. Will I need at some point to hold my own inventory ? Or can I fully rely on Printful, Printify no matter the scale of my business ? (1000+ or 10 000+ sales per month for exemple). Thanks !
@SkyEclipse24
@SkyEclipse24 7 ай бұрын
Starting off use Printful to fulfill directly to the customers but after you start making money and scaling consider holding your own inventory. Let them ship out items like t shirts, hoodies, or anything customized etc. BUT eventually if you have any one size fits all products that are actually selling then consider holding that inventory yourself. *In respective quantities. One size fits all products would be coffee mugs, posters, stickers etc. 😮 Imagine ordering as a first time customer and they take a week or more to deliver the holiday stickers you ordered!😂 To sum everything up....once you start to scale consider holding reasonable amounts of one size fits all products on hand. Especially during the holiday season when many people are ordering last minute and print on demand providers are swamped. (Orders often get delayed, canceled or charged back more during the holidays.)🎉 I hope this helped!❤

Hi Greg. Relate to your history having had some tragic curve balls in my own corporate career :-?. Old(er) dog, so new tricks don't come that easy, and based in a foreign market (S. Africa, increasingly a 3rd world country with failing logistical challenges, inter alia). Either way, POD has grabbed my interest very recently and, if you'd be so kind, I'd like some clarity please: I thought POD providers like Printful serve as a sales platform too (over and above just fulfilling the logistics)? If so, am I to understand that this video is just about creating additional shopfronts?
@GregGottfried
@GregGottfried 5 ай бұрын
Welcome to the POD world, it sounds like a nice fit for what you’re looking for. The “other” POD websites are more of a one-or-the-other when compared to Printful/Shopify. The Printful route is like making your own website and bringing your own traffic without a sales marketplace to bring in traffic automatically (they will still fulfill the orders and all but you are more hands on to bring in buyers and manage customer service). The other POD sites are more a hands-off route where the buyers are brought in for you as well as customer service all taken care of for you.

I think if you go the Shopify route, it's truly a full time job (between marketing and customer service). So I think your plate will be too full and both will just get part time attention. I'd focus on just one if I were you 👍

The idea of passive income with the hands off experience does sound great. But you put all that work in and then don't really own anything. You can get kicked off any of those platforms on a whim and then you have nothing and have to start over. Also building a shop or brand will give you an asset that you can potentially sell for a lot of money down the line. And the profit can be way better. So that's why I don't like the idea of relying on those other passive income websites because it's a lot of work any way, and you don't own anything ever.

@@joshlearnsart9805 Huh? I have an Etsy shop and moving to Shopify as well. I"m building a brand. Because all of this is soooo much work. Even uploading on "passive income" sites is a lot of work so you might as well do this with a bigger end in mind and own your own assets. This gives you the potential to create real wealth. You'll never make millions the way you can building a brand. There's not much more valuable than a cash flowing asset.
@GregGottfried
@GregGottfried 7 ай бұрын
Those are valid points, but personally from doing both sides, I still pick the passive side. The lifestyle is so much better, and you can still sell the passive style print on demand accounts for good money (about 40x monthly profit). It's a risk that they could shut down your account, but if you stay within the guidelines and stay away from infringing on copyrights or trademarks, then you shouldn't have any issues. I should also mention you can upload your same designs to multiple passive print on demand sites because they are non-exclusive, so you can diversify a lot (if one account ever did get shut down, you'd still have all the others). I'll say lastly that I've never personally had an account shut down. I've heard of people getting their accounts shut down, but they are trying to take shortcuts and beat the system so it's somewhat expected at that point. I hope that helps shed some light on this and helps you make your decision 👍

Absolutely, I understand your desire for a passive customizable POD platform. To ensure I provide the most fitting solution, could you clarify a bit more about the level of customization you're looking for? Are you envisioning a platform that allows customers to personalize their designs directly, or are you more interested in offering pre-designed customizable options? Additionally, understanding your target audience and specific design requirements will help me guide you towards the most suitable and efficient platform for your vision.
