Just Wow! I have been diligently working on a print on Demand for about 3-4 months. I have been watching You tube videos, taking Udemy classes, and basically driving myself crazy trying so hard to understand some of this. I Currently have an Etsy shop which was just started a few weeks ago and already I am suspended related to a technical issue concerning my e-mail! Easily fixable by so frustrating. You are making this so understandable. I didn't know there were other options for sales other than Shopify, Amazon, and Etsy. But now, thanks to you, I can continue with my designing. I won't close my Etsy shop (worked too hard on it) but now I have other avenues! You Sir, are a gem!

I have designs on several websites. It's interesting that what may be popular on one website may not be the most popular on another. My suggestion is to post all of your designs on all of your chosen sites, and see what works best.

You helped with something I've been mulling over. I've considered just focusing on t-shirts (apparel) instead of all the little gadgets, trinkets and whatnot. That's why I'm doing a blog, not only for directing to my store but in my blog I'll specify while I don't have this design in a button or in a blanket for example, let me know if you want it in a button or blanket and I'll resize it for you. I'll even be posting a link with every post giving a list of everything I can put my design onto. Some places have blankets and the upload size is a MASSIVE file. I won't be wasting my time on hundreds of sizes meanwhile can still service my customers for what they want.

I did print on demand several years ago and the major thing that slowed me down and became a source of discouragement is what you mentioned @13:35. I would actually spend all day on one design, nitpicking the details. But with that slow trickle I would barely get sales which eventually led me to quit. I'm actually at the 1k tier with 220 available uploads per day., but never knew how anyone could upload so many designs in a day. Thanks for the video, you give me ideas on how to get back into POD.

But if after years you're only making $150 that's not worth it then. @@MGproductions7567 no sales :( i got accepted to amazon but i havent made time to upload my designs there. so that could be a factor since there's a bigger audience there. i made a total of 11 designs and uploaded them in all the websites except amazon. i will say that seeing other shirts with the same graphic but different text makes this business super competitive. (for some of these websites i made my designs available on totes and stickers) so now i'm thinking on finding a different niche and creating original designs, because all of these graphics are being used by everyone else so as a consumer it feels very copy and paste and i gotta stand out. i have some ideas written out but i haven't done anything due to holidays. will get back into it in January.

I’ve been in sales to distributors for 30+ years. Looking at POD for something I can do from home as I wind down from working full time. This video is brilliant. You speak very well. Your pronunciation is great too. I’ve saved it to reference again. I watch most videos over 15mins at 1.25 or 1.5 speed & often the speed warps the speech. But your style is fantastic. I'm a CPA too, I work part-time at the moment and had started to dabble a little with a 'gift store' selling personalized items like t-shirts, mugs, tumblers, blankets, cushions, stickers etc. but found it takes a lot of time with little monetary reward. I'd suggest you not wasting the time thinking its oversaturated, while you could be making few extra dollars side. If it's really oversaturated you could go for dropshipping/affiliate marketing/freelancing

Hi Greg ! You just came up with a solution... I've spend so much time searching on how to open a t shirt printing business what equipments to buy.. and the more videos i watched the more i get confused! And also had to search for the best investment proposal to fund my start up business ...they were also confusing 😮!!! And then the POD video's popped up.. I didn't even get it cause they don't even explain it, they just assume everyone knows, i didn't know what a POD is !!! ... And BOOM !!!! Nice Donna! About the checkerboard, they recently changed its location. It's in the same "Background" button then the "Color" menu and all the way at the bottom. Hope that helps!

Wow! One of the reasons I stopped doing this on Etsy & Prinfify was because I had to adjust the price to make sure it was profitable, run ads, sales - which charged quite a bit. Picking the colors and products there took a long time as well. On top of that, I had to approve each sale and pay the product cost up front, then wait for the customer payment. This is MUCH easier.

I missed your tutorial videos, Greg. Great to see you again with new stuff. One question: don't you think that everybody will use the same designs from Place-it or Canva and that could be a bad strategy (even if they customize them)? I think creating my own designs could be better, even if it's more time-consuming.

Great question! I think it's a numbers game, and once you have a lot of designs out there on all the sites you will simply see more sales coming in. I've done it both ways and I didn't see the payoff of custom designs made from scratch. A happy medium may be to search all the graphics on the right side of the placeit designer and swap out the text and graphic. That will give you a more custom design that will be more different from others. I hope that helps!

Thank you, I appreciate that. In regards to setting the price, on Teepublic the price is set for you (so they can run sales and promotions). However, on all the other sites we are able to set our own prices and therefore determine how big our profit margin is per item. As for sales numbers, we just get to track it in our dashboard. I trust that it's accurate because it would be a huge lawsuit if they were trying to hide sales from us.

In the old POD tutorial, you suggested to use *Competition Checker* feature of Merch Informer to make list of good niches with A or B rating. Should we use that approach or should we just choose the niches that are relevant to us (as suggested by you in this tutorial) ?

Great question! The Competition Checker is still very relevant but the reason I left it out of this tutorial is because the vast majority of viewers were getting "stuck" before even starting because they couldn't find A rated niches. All niches will work, there's no doubt about that, but as you get more advanced, the Competition Checker will help you get more dialed in with your niche selections. Hope that helps!
