A surprisingly good addition for my glue ups was a shower caddy. Good first order of retrieval, things can be separated in the different partitions, a handle to pick it all up at once and take it back to its spot on the shelf.

Great and fun video, as usual... Two suggestions... For the straws, if you cut the ends off at an angle, you get a sharper point that reaches into corners even easier. For the silicone mats, I took an old cheap towel bar and attached it to the end of my bench and hang them on that along with my shelf liner sanding/routing mat, out of the way and yet still convenient.

Potential tip: if you cut the tip of those heart straws at an angle so the bottom of the heart comes to a sharp point you can start at the bottom of the glue joint and scrape up. It should be easier to quickly wipe the glue out of the straw then move on to the next joint. As the tip wears down just keep sniping off a little more until eventually the straw gets too short to use anymore.

Great job and I never get sick of awesome organizing projects! Please keep them coming. I will say in all my years of manufacturing and many efficiency improvement projects I decided early on to eliminate all draws and cabinets and go with shadow board type organizers. Having everything visible and organized by task not to mention beginning able to see if a tool was missing/in use made us incredibly efficient . You may want to consider one project utilizing that type of visible tool system. A French clear type originator with caddies would work very well! No more opening draws and doors to find things! Just my two cents. Thanks for the amazing content!

For the Brad nailer hang up, I had the same issue, and still due from time to time. Talked to the manufacturer, recommendation was to dial down the strength adjustment (wheel on the back) drive a few nails, then dial it back up

My entire shed is a mess due to lack of storage, it bugs the hell out of me. Work flow was one of the things I was very good at organising when I worked in manufacturing but that was many years ago. Now I have a small space to do my woodworking and I need to sort it out. Travis gives that inspiration and shows how "simple" it can be.

HA! I can relate...I built two big 8x8x2 rolling shelves and that helped...for a while. Shelves tend to collect crap and dust and while I could roll them out of the way they seemed to always be in the way unless they were against the wall. I broke down and started building 14ft of Travis' ultimate cabinets and cannot wait to unload the shelf contents into the drawers and take down one of the shelves. Since my shop has 16ft ceilings in the middle I am already planning to rebuild one of the shelves up high and bolted to the wall...for that junk that you touch only once or twice a year!
@theelmagoo2 жыл бұрын
So.... fun fact I just learned on my current project after a year of owning these things..... but on those silicone glue brushes, on the opposite end of the brush is a flat side. You use the flat side to scrape off the excess glue, also works great in corners (like the heart straws). :D

Heck, I'd be ecstatic if my shop looked anything like your "before" picture. My shop is such a mess, and you are right, due to my shop looking like a tornado just hit it and having to move a mountain of stuff out of the way just to do some simple tasks, I know getting it organized will help me out tremendously and that is why I love this channel so much! And, I am going to start my first 'organization' project this weekend. Thanks for the inspiration!

They only thing I would have done differently is the tape. I would have used a peg to hang out on the side of the cabinet. I like the glue caddy. I might have made a spot in the caddy to put some straws. The spot wouldn't need to be high because I would cut the straws in half. Just a thought.... Great video.

You know, this actually inspired me to rethink storage cabinets in the house as well. “A place for everything, and everything in its place.” Being intentional and making everyday life easier by taking just a little bit of time to organize a space can have such a huge impact on your peace of mind. I now find myself staring at my kitchen pantry which could definitely use some intentional organizational attention.

Hey Travis, so I’ve been having the same issue with the “brad starter” so much so I was starting to take the screws off the back to see if lubing the tube would help…. And then I noticed a lever under the “18 GA Brad” label and it was at the “-“ sign…. Moved it to “+” and was able to shoot 2” brads no more issues… worth a shot.
@rupe17682 жыл бұрын
Natural gas radiant heater is what you need. You can set a temp and once you garage reaches that level it keeps its there and functions on and off as needed. Also won't cause condinsation to accumulate on your tools and rust. Based on you walls it looks like you garage is insulated and a small 30,000 BTU unit will keep everything warm and comfortable.

How about adding a roll of constitution paper roll to the end of the rolling work bench for covering your table top. You can roll out what you want and slice it from the roll and once your glue-up job is complete it can be placed in your recycle bin.

Actually it’s not stupid space. Just prior to watching this I did a bit of organizing in my small garage as a result of another one of your vids i saw. Simply put I am tired of spending a half hour looking for stuff sometimes for just one item. Do this enough times and I spend stupid time looking for stuff. My neighbors must laugh at me as I wander around the garage. Anyway I saw some great ideas here tonight I can put to use right away. Looking to be fully organized for 2024… maybe. Thx
