We've all walked through a somewhat messy clothing store, but what will shoppers do when they see this shopper taking matters into her own hands? Is there ever such a thing as too much organizing? #WWYD

What would you do when you think no one is watching? What Would You Do? (WWYD?) explores the varying answers with the help of hidden cameras capturing individuals who have been placed within seemingly everyday situation that quickly go awry. The individuals on this hidden camera show are forced to make tough calls when directly faced with situations of racism, violence, hate crimes, and other hot button cultural issues. Catch John Quinones reporting on these individuals as they make split-second decisions to intervene or mind their own business. WWYD? airs Friday nights at 9|8c on ABC.

I have actually seen customers act like this in retail . Years ago one customer called me over and started complaining that there was Milky Way bags in the m and m section and made a big deal out of it . She was also very rude . What these people don’t understand is you can clean an isle and 30 min later other customers can destroy it.

I usually help to put things that I notice are obviously out of place, usually because someone lazily put it pack on the closest rack, or refold disturbed shirts (having also worked retail... pet peeve) but that’s where it ends.

Having worked in retail I have the impulse to redo facing when I pick up an item, or put stuff back in place when another customer left it on the wrong shelf. But at no point would I modify the displays. These things are carefully planned by marketing. Most of the time you get a book to copy the way it's laid out, folded, displayed. Somebody rolling everything like a saussage on a shelf just destroyed hours of work, discouraged other customers from picking up items to have a look at them, and thus decreased revenue for the store. That being said, people who reach the level of impulse of that lady would be considered mentally challenged, be it OCD or something else. I'd try to be kind in the approach, even if on the inside I'd be fuming.

As someone who had worked retail there’s a specific way clothes are displayed so that they sell, there are specific people who organize and fold all the clothes, it’s incredibly hard on the employees to then have to go and undo everything a customer has done. Even when In good faith please always ask an employee before bc no matter how messy it looks to someone, employees spend hours folding and reorganizing, especially chain stores.

don't pay attention to anna, you're doing it out of good intentions at least subconsciously, as long as you keep the store's folding scheme and order, i see nothing wrong with this, good deeds should not embarass you, at most you'll be asked nicely to stop, but knowing how customers trash these places and employees want to burn up the place each time they need to refold an entire isle. i'm sure if you explain yourself the response will be positive

I've worked in customer service/retail and it would really bother me if a customer did this. Also, a lot of stores have a very specific way they fold and present their things so "reorganizing" could actually make someone's job harder.

And the fact that some clothes have to be folded a certain way or it’s destroyed. Any shirts with pictures on them (a lot common with Guess shirts) rolled up like she was doing will break and crumble and the picture is ruined, so it doesn’t really fit with all types of clothes’

wwyd usually does a really decent job of portraying situations that could actually happen, it’s one of the many reasons I’ve watched this show for so long and respect it so much. HOWEVER, the angle on this scenario was flawed, in my opinion. i clicked expecting more of an episode about ocd, possibly neuro-diverse conditions that result in involuntary behaviors; not an outwardly neurotypical person just being disrespectful in a shopping environment. basically, i honestly just don’t think this would really happen in life, aside from an encounter with a Karen lmao. any situation like this would most likely involve someone suffering from a compulsive episode in public yk? i really doubt they’d be throwing clothes around, but it really does manifest in some extreme ways. the person definitely wouldn’t try to be noticed by other people (ex. talking to other customers about it, asking for help), and they would actually probably be incredibly embarrassed by or completely dissociated from what they’re doing. as the actress I would’ve played it more like that, a neurodivergent woman suffering from a compulsion to reorganize the store. changing that little aspect of the situation would make it less stunted, more relatable and make it possible to have an actually important message as the focus of the episode. that’s just my thoughts though, idk why I wasted twenty minutes writing this when nobody cares lmao oops

I worked in retail stores and the ones I worked were VERY strict for how things were folded and exactly where exactly where things were placed. You have to fold a specific way and they place things where they are for marketing purposes. Do NOT reorganize a store! No harm in folding a thing when you put it back but they would make me refold it their way I promise.

When I saw the title of the video, I thought the video was going to involve OCD. I'm actually diagnosed with ocd. I easily get stressed whenever I see something not organized.

I don't think this is unrealistic. I actually remember organizing the things in a mall we went to and it took me a good amount of time.

I've got high spectrum autism and I love going to the makeup and cleaning isles and reorganizing the shelves that get messed up as people toss random stuff in every slot, I like to face the shelves if I can as well. If you don't know what that means it means to bring products at the back of the shelves towards the front so the new stuff can be placed behind it while the old stuff gets bought out so it doesn't expire and have to be thrown. Used to work retail TwT literally only did it for the 8 hours of music and reorganizing it's fun for me but I've slight OCD so yeah.

It might've been interesting if it was a person with OCD, that was going to be unfairly punished by the store.

I do it all the time. Not like OCD reorganizing things THIS way, (or tossing anything on the floor!)but putting clothes back on hangers, picking stuff up off the floor, when I look at certain clothing items, I often rearrange them by size, etc...

I honestly think that an idea like this would've been better if they revolved the scenario around a person who has OCD or Autism. That would've automatically made it A LOT better, in my opinion.

Is it me, or does she make it far worse than before? Stores don't roll their items, because shoppers cannot see what's on it unless they pick it up, and unroll it which just contributes to more mess.
