You will definitely get tired and overwhelmed living in a reno. It can even make couples who never argue start because it's stressful. Just do what you can and move stuff around. Patience is the key. One piece of advice is to get ONE ROOM, ONE SPACE, completely done as a kind of oasis to retreat to when it gets to you. I picked my bedroom when I did mine and it was the best choice.

I've been suspecting that myself! Her last several videos really don't show her doing anything like she used to be doing. It seems like things are kinda on hold a bit. It's just not progressing like it was before the move in. Or is it just me who sees that? Maybe just because of the heat. Either way, I always love seeing whatever she's posting. :)

​@@ima40schic I think it is mostly because of the heat and because the projects she does now require more time for planning/researching little details, that keep her behind but in the end are important to make the spaces like she wants them to be. Also she has been in LA for two weeks and will be there soon again, and she drove her mom to appointments so she hadn't spend as much time in the cottage as the months before. I think she does a lot behind the scences like planning or finishing the porch, too. And she tried to suprise us with the entryway makeover which we haven't seen much behind the scenes footage but she transformed it anyway. So all in all it is probably just a mixure of everything that gives the impression she would work less even though she probably works nearly the same but in a different way :)

Hi MaCenna, The pillow you bought is needlepoint. You don’t ever wan to put that through the wash because it is usually made with wool yarn. Also the way it is made it would potentially ruin the pillow. It’s better to dry clean things like that. You have such a great eye for pretty things, and I love watching you and your Mom shop. It totally reminds me of my Mom and me!😜

Closet nursery!! 😍 It’s really nice to have them close for the first year. My daughter sleeps in her crib in my room and if she wakes up in the night, I don’t have to go far and I know I’ll hear her.

I love the idea of a lamp in the bathroom cabinet. Also, a chef's tip: when you want to scrape food off the cutting board, flip the knife over and use the back (top) edge. Keeps your knife sharper longer.

I liked Romeos suggestion of Ikea shelving. If you got one each you could bridge them with a rail for more hanging. Once you have a permanent closet they could be repurposed in your workshop. 😀

Dear MaCenna, the thing made of wool, is called basma in romanian. It is a scarf that you put on your head, as a wife. Is traditional for Romania and the Eastern Europe. It can be fron Romania, Ukraine or Russia 🥰

Your pretty little thing, 100%wool is a scraf. I had the same one in mid 70's. I wore it as a triangle over my shoulders. Dark green midi skirt, black books and cream colored turtle neck!

The big, sheer, floral printed square that you didn't know what it was--It's a kerchief! Women used to wear them tied over their hair and under the jaw. My great grandma used to always wear them when she would go out to protect her hair style from wind or other weather and take it off when she would arrive at her destination, like a hat or scarf. 🤎

MaCennna, if you know someone who does cross stitch and/or is a meticulous seamstress, ask if they will mend the holes with matching thread before you wash it. That way the holes won’t get larger and your pretty scarf will last longer.

that little lamp is PERFECT for the bathroom. It might need another book to lift it up a bit, but GORGEOUS!!! I can only imagine how hard it is to pick and choose and prioritize what is needed for you while living there. That pretty vibrant square thing you got on the sale is a traditional Russian headscarf. They used to hand embroider them but since ~start of 20 century, it's all printed. If you ever see a traditional Russian nesting doll, they have those on their heads.

My daughter used her walk in closet as a nursery for several months. It worked out great. Cozy warm, dark and quiet for a sleeping infant. 👍 I always enjoy your blogs. Thanks for sharing. 💕

Hi Macenna...the beautiful flowered "trinket bowl" is from the "Royal Albert" China pattern which i have an eight piece setting for. They are truly exquisite with a gold rim around the pieces.I have loved these and added pieces to my China collection ....I am as in love with them today as I was when I purchased them over 30 years ago. I wonder if she had the set and someone picked them up before you saw them.

I was going to say I have some pieces from that collection! A small, oval shaped tray, a small teapot, and the salt and pepper shakers that look like teapots! I picked them up at a local thrift store for super cheap. I had no idea what they were until I looked them up. They're beautiful!

I got so excited when you pulled out the shawl at 11.08😃 I grew up in Moldova, I’m Russian-Ukrainian. This is a traditional Slavic shawl or a head scarf. All “babushkas” (and not only them) are wearing them in villages. My 17 yo daughter has couple of those in her collection together with other folk and traditional stuff. I have two almost identical little crystal lamps from my grandma! 💕 They’re on timers so when it starts to get dark, they switch on. Super cute on a bookshelf or in a glass cabinet

That’s a needlepoint pillow cover. Remove it from the form and have it dry cleaned. Or if you’re feeling brave, soak in a wool wash and lay flat to dry.

ima40schic is completely correct about the need for an oasis, so maybe finish out your owners suite closet with all the storage you need. It wouldn't have to be your permanent solution if you have a dream closet in mind, but you'd be surprised how much it helps to purchase some plastic drawers, double-hang bars, maybe some nice hangers, and just get it taken care of. I redid our two small closets and it took one day to add cleats, two shelves, double hang rods. plastic drawer units, a basic light, a basic wall mirror and shoe racks in each, and I am not a pro.

What a pretty little light! I just wouldn‘t use books to raise it up, but use a piece of wood. Like cutting a piece from a thicker branch as thick as you want it. I think it would fit niecly with the picture with the bird next to it.

Try touching the brass bottom of the lamp while it's plugged in. Most lamps from back in the day worked by touching the brass, some even had three bright settings. This would also explain the silver and brass combination, sometimes the brass portion could be hidden under a doily (that stretched up and around it) giving the lamp a sort of 'flow into the table' look.

Oh my gosh. That claw foot brass jewelry box is an heirloom in my family. My mom has a set of 3 (they have either silk or velvet lining) that she got from her grandma, who got it from her mother. So it originally belonged to my great, great grandmother. As a kid, I loved opening it up and seeing my mom's vintage jewelry inside. 🥰 You found something so special at that estate sale!! 😍 I think they're called "coffin jewelry boxes." Or something like that. I can't remember.
