we haven't been decor shopping at an estate sale in a while so we are heading to find some goodies & I don't think my mom has ever laughed so hard at me before .... I failed at adding tinsel to our Christmas tree!

I am 63 years young and grew up with tinsel. Your mother's and your interaction made over the tinsel me laugh so hard i was crying. My mother loved tinsel and a beautifully decorated tree. She had 5 children all 11 months apart in ages. We all decorated the tree as a family. Every year after we went to bed she dismantled the whole tree removing all the decorations and redecorated it. I am certain at our young ages (patience and detail not our strength)we pretty much did as you did just throwing chunks of tinsel on the tree. I ❤ your mom.

Tinsel Tip: when I put tinsel on the tree, I use the tree as like a comb and the tinsel like the hair. I drag the tinsel through the branches and let them fall, lightly, where they may 😍❤️ your mother is so sweet & hilarious 🥰❤️💋🤣🤣🤣 I love your style!!

Those cards are used for bridge. It’s a game. You used to buy a set along with Tally’s (for scoring) and other paper goods that all match. You can still buy things like that at certain stores.

I am just getting ready to start the video but I saw the title and I also saw the video yesterday and wanted to let you know that I grew up with tinsel on the tree. Now I was born in 62 and what seems like yesterday for me is probably the olden days for you Lol. My mother who taught me how to make a tree look really good and even though she had worked hard all day like scrubbing on your hands and knees, waiting on people, kind of work on top of the old fashion and the wife does everything in the house and cooks from scratch while raising five kids. Yet she still managed to bury particularly decorate our fall for tree. And I am at least us picky is her now and my adult OK old years lol. But every ornament has to hang freely and she would put each strand of tinsel on one at a time and when I was a child, we called it rain. It was always referred to as rain in our house and I don’t really remember seeing it on other peoples trees and if I did, it was people like my mom’s age and older. But I loved it. Now we grew up with the big large old lights on the tree and on the houses lol. And it was the same when I first got married but things quickly changed. Well, the truth is I couldn’t afford a tree or decorations the first 3 years and once I finally could, I could only afford to decorate half or less of the tree lol so it went back in the corner, of course but I was excited that wasn’t enough. But after I had kids 3, 4 & 5 I had the little twinkle lights and a few more ornaments. I would spend hours getting the lights on just right. The ornaments had to be from the trunk out. I would put so many strands of lights, but they had to be just right. But I quit doing the rain/tinsel because it made such a mess in the house and I had little kids getting it wrapped around their fingers etc. and people weren’t really doing it anymore. In fact you didn’t hardly ever see it in the stores. And I had my hands full with it considering that I got married at 19 had my first child at 20 and my fifth child 27. So yeah I don’t do the tinsel anymore but I was kind of excited to see you do it, but I totally understand if you decided not to do it especially after Romeo’s reaction yesterday.😉☺️

I grew up with tinsel but when I had toddlers and pets, the tinsel stopped. I now have small candles that clip to the tips of the branches and helps my tree look more cottage-y.

My grandpa created this tool board. Let me explain: He put a woodboard on the wall. On the woodboard he nailed some nails. On those nails he hung every tool he had: hammers, screwdrivers, nippers, saws, etc. Later on, he outlined every tool with a pencil. He removed the tools and painted the woodboard one colour and the inside of the outline another colour, example: white and green. Now, everytime he removed a tool, he saw the silouette of the missing tool. So if anything was missing he would know and if he needed any tool he would have them all there displayed. EASY PEASY LEMON SQUEEZY. Happy Holidays MaCenna, you bring joy to my afternoons.

Growing up we would take small bunches of tinsel and gently drag it across the tree - that way individual bits of tinsel with get caught on different branches. Not quite as symmetrical as your mums way but it is a much quicker way to get a very similar result! You can then go in and refine it.

Yes Romeo I like the lemon drops to when I clean I clean tell him pour baking soda in the disposal run hot water n pour vinegar first let it fizzle down then put the drop of lemon n turn the disposal on n let it rinse down boil half fabolouso half water n a pot u no longer like using n let the smell fill the air or if festive the cinnamon oranges apples fean’d berries and cloves in a pot of water add mint n pine for a Christmas smell
