Well technically even though it's in the sack that you have on you, the object is nowhere near you, since the inside of a bag of holding is literally on a different plane of existence. Proximity effects shouldn't have an influence, except maybe when the bag is open.

super super super not a big deal. Was it "cool" for orion to go buy something without telling the GM? No. Game breaking? Not even slightly. Bag of holding is a just an item with a price in 5e. He DID say he was teleporting to Draconia and taking 500g with him, but he didn't talk about what he was buying on screen. Did he tell Matt? Seems like he didn't. That part is a small player-ship problem that can/should be solved with a simple: hey, don't buy magic stuff off screen, or really anything that you intend to use to drive the story when you come back.

@@wootalicious5939 necro. also 5e's magic item pricing only came in in xgte, and that relies on rolling for the price and spending weeks of downtime. the dmg did have prices by rarity, but it is famously hand-wavey and subject to dm approval. uncommon items, as with the boh, can be anywhere between 101gp to 500gp

@@spiceyicey The price of an item is what the DM/GM says it is, a bag of holding could be 1 Copper but be the only one in the world that play in or 50000 Platinum and be in abundance. The prices in the books are just a guideline to keep a balanced economy, you could even go so far and remove copper, silver and other metals completely and only use gold or name it differently.

Orion was looking really uncomfortable when he was saying how he got a bag of holding and he REALLY should be. If we tried that with our DM he’d probably do something on the spot but because this was broadcasted Matt kept his cool and even Marisha just accepted it after Orion kept giving excuses. That was a low move on him. I don’t know how they got a bag of holding in the first place but I don’t think you can just get that at a local shop

@@kuroneko1813 you can actually it's just an uncommon Item, Matt at this point was new to 5e they were playing with Pathfinder before from what I know and Bags of holding were rarer in that I believe. Uncommon items are up to 600 gold only, so you have a fairly good chance to find one in a magic shop in a bigger city ^^ Our DM rolled and our Magic shop had like 5 Bags of holding ^^

@@nightwalker174 Yeah, back in the day the subs were fan-created and submitted. That was before KZbin decided to block that ability, and then CR chose to hire a transcription person/service. It's great in that even for the (pre-recorded) livestreams we get these days, there's always some sort of subtitles to watch in draft stage, and by the time the VODs are uploaded the next week the subs are tidied up and more comprehensive. Tough work! Unfortunately, they're still not a patch on the original fan-created subtitles. I imagine that comes from there being dozens if not hundreds of people actively contributing to all of the languages, and people reporting things that needed to be corrected - don't think that gets to happen nowadays. Ideally we'd get this quality of subtitles all the way through, but at least we're still getting subtitles even if they're not as full of little quirky bits!

The whole thing was a bit of a minor debacle. He gave Sam the Circlet of Concentration when they found it because he thought the Ioun stone was better (or perhaps he didn't want to part with any spells he may have stored within it). I'm almost certain Sam preferred it to the Circlet too. Orion tried to swap them during the Beholder fight when he realized how much that extra Concentration spell was something he was looking for. And since its a homebrewed item Matt almost certainly made it for him as Orion has demonstrated frustration, as many people with multiple concentration spells on their spell list have, with those spells. He was also trying to attune to both until Matt stepped in with some Pathfinder holdover regarding body slots (that system allows for many more magical items but allows for only one per body part like head, feet, a ring per hand, etc.). I feel that Matt's ruling was more of an excuse to avoid an argument over Orion's greed and hoarding of magic items.

1:02:56 Everyone's talking about how great Percy's performance is at the sound of his family's killer's name (which yes, 10/10, i loved how despondent he became and how slowly that dread set in and took root)... but no one's talking about how Pike completely breaks her calm stare, unsettled, standing straighter in her seat before looking up at Percy and then the rest of them, mouthing "Briarwoods?" to Vax, so concerned for her friend... it takes a while for her to relax after this. She makes a note of it then looks back at Percy, still so ready to jump in and pry further for his sake, before following everyone else's lead and letting the narration play out. The rest of the party (minus Percy) don't respond physically at all until the scene has changes entirely. In conclusion, Pike is a good friend, and I love her. Also Percy deserves the world.

I used to play with a team that would never take such cues, they truly couldn't grasp it was not a video game where "prompts" are semi- or fully automatic for the plot to move forward. It made for fun "games" but not exactly campaigns as the plot progress was constantly throttled and derailed to such a degree that the team seemed to try to outdo one another in the ever more ridiculous ways to approach the game

@@feyofshadow2241 Tiberius had a habit of just generally being dickish to everyone around him. Because of this, very early on, I realized I hated Tiberius. He was full of himself and generally a piece of shit to everyone he encountered, unless they agreed with him and acquiesced to his ways of doing things. I figured this was just a matter of his character being built to be unlikable. Because of this, gave him (Orion) the benefit of the doubt. But over time, I found that Orion, himself, exhibited many of his character's toxic personality traits. And later, still, I found out that part of the reason Orion left, in his own words, included not just substance abuse and illness, but he also cited the fact he abused his ex-girlfriends (PLURAL). This is my view on things, based on being a first-time watcher of Critical Role. To me, this is all fresh, and we have far more context for what is going on, because of the fact that it was an on-going problem which diminishes the enjoyment we have for the series. I don't see how being annoyed by all that equates to "kicking him when he's down" or even "shitting on him". This is just saying "I don't like how this guy is acting, so when he gets comeuppance, I feel catharsis"

what I find most impressive about Matt's DMing is that he really lets the players use their imagination. He doesn't have a set way that things will go. The encounters are crafted well for improvisation. The visual in my head of the K'Varr battle was amazing. A little rule bending probably, but I think it is handled well. I also really like that he doesn't just say, "no you can't do that" if in fact a player can attempt to do it. Like tiberius trying to crush the horn, Matt didn't say he couldn't do it, he let him do it and fail. The moment were Grog head butted the giant was a brilliant showcase of improvisation. Matt came up with the whole sequence after Travis' N20 totally on the fly and it worked amazingly well for the story. Plus his impersonations of the NPCs is top notch.

Nah Orion reminds me of a guy I play with. Sorcerer power player, overbearing, has never once run out of spell slots even when he should have, has to be the centre of attention, gets pouty and moody when stuff doesn't go his way, and the other players always seem uncomfortable any time he talks for more than 10 seconds. Which is always. He left and the game was better for it, so knowing Orion leaves the show soon is the only reason I've sat through it this far.
