I'm trying to eat healthier so I took Aldi up on fruits and vegetables. I filled the back of my SUV with produce and a little amount from the cheese isle, it only cost me $88.00. I thought that was pretty good seeing it will last me several weeks. Many veggies can be added into pasta and I'm living healthier. Some of these junk food items slowly are killing us with high blood pressure or heart problems. We need to keep an eye on what they put on our food. Just sounding off, appreciate your work Danno

When I’m hungry in between meals I eat a cheese stick, pepperoni, apple, or yogurt. Helps to hold you over to next meal and it’s a better for you option.

Our fresh produce is in MUCH better shape than it was in about May through July '22. I think it has come down in price, or at least individual items. We are definitely returning to having to pay a pretty penny for out-of season produce although due to imports, we have more than just one season out of the year for many things. Even if you only have a refrigerator freezer, I urge you to find an (comparatively) inexpensive source of plastic baggies, learn what produce you can prep and freeze without blanching, and put some away in the freezer when its a good price; many things do well for 0-3 months this way. (We buy our baggies atnChef Store, a restaurant supply store that only takes cash and debit cards.) Maybe keep your eyes open for a food dehydrator in the used and also new markets too. There for a while in '22, basic foods and ingredients were seeing some inflation at what seemed like a steeper incline than prepared and partially prepared foods. Then there were quite the assortment of sales per unit price, deals, and the more for those things that come in a box, bag, packet, etc... Outside of eggs (lol) I've noticed that a lot of the grocery aisle prepared and partially prepared items seem to keep going up, amd up, and up. The basic ingredients not nearly as much if not going down. Meat is still going up but seems to come on sale every so often. Since you are more of a basic ingredient type of shopper with an attitude for fewer partially and fully prepared items, I encourage you to add some items to you cart, a little each week, which are "things that make things". Spices and herbs whether you make your own blends or not, leavening ingredients, grains from oats to flour and cornmeal, bullion and savory flavorings whether you routinely use them or not (use less and in place of salt), sugar, - again, things to make things.

We really do need to watch food labels. "They" have changed labels from saying g, m, o, to bi0l0gically modified ingredients. This will allow them to put in bugs and m, r, n, a under disguised names. It's already happening with bugs being added. If you buy prepared foods and mixes check your label carefully.

Went shopping at a Kroger owned store here in Tucson. Saved 35% on entire order by buying loss leaders, e coupon items and regular sale items. I did get the Lays chips Buy 4 and cost is $1.99 each. I found some lovely beef roasts and skirt steaks in the “manager special” meat section. They had Best Buy dates of 2/10/23. The shelves were stuffed full and the prices were crazy. I used to leave the store with several hundred dollars worth of items… NOW I play “ how can I get the “best deals” and I only get what I need, no impulse purchases. 😊

I'm working even harder to get the best price for my home. I consider the grocery stores a battle ground. I need to be prepared to fight the prices and use every tool at my disposal. SURVIVAL is my goal. Shop smart and have a great day.

We started along this journey with '22's larder filling approach #4, June of '22. It was basically an inflation fighting approach. It is my suggestion to set aside some of the grocery money for pantry stocking; and dedicate the pantry stocking money for only those items at a good to excellent price. Meanwhile start looking at the things in your larder and on your grocery recipes to begin to figure out what you really eat and how much of it on a per week and also per month basis. For example if you eat tacos or nachos about twice per month and use store-bought taco seasoning mix for this, you can safely say you consume about 24 packets per year. If you come across a good to excellent price on taco seasoning packets you will have lardder stocking money to buy upto 24 packets; how many depends in part on an approximate number you already own. Continuing on about taco seasoning mix, there are recipies out there for making your own; i prefer the 2Tablespoons of corn starch versions. If you carefully source you ingredients, you can make a packet's worth of taco seasonings mix upto much cheaper than buying a buying a pre-made packet at the store. To save time, you could mix 6 packets worth (or 6 uses if you use 2 packets when you cook by doubling the recipie) then store in reused food containers, plastic baggies, or even purchased containers. HOWEVER if you don't already have the ingredients, your cost out the door of the store can be high, it may take a while before you actually save very real money vs cost per unit, and you may decide making your own taco seasoning mixes are outside the immediate budget. Then you have to decide if its time timgather the ingredients one or two per week, drop the idea of making your own, or move on to something else to save money on by "cooking from scratch". I picked on taco seasoning mix but after looking at what you actually eat, there are plenty of other items you can do similarly with. You night also try some alternative ingredients, dishes, and foods to what you are currently buying. For example, lard is most often (or historically) upto much cheaper than butter;mseems as if stores have caught onto people buying lard and have responded with increased offering and increased prices. Cabbage and bagged regular long carrots remain less costly than a lot of fesh produce so part of the answer may be to incorporate more of these in the diet. There for a few short weeks last summer, some frozen fish was cheaper per pound than even the cheapest hamburger. Right now a lot of people are using egg substitutions in thier baking. But this approach works with the prepared and partially prepared items on the grocery shelf too. Apparently foods and snacks aimed at kids and pets are what's inflating the most right now. It may be time tomoortion larger containers ofvitejs into kid friendly sizes; use Now $1.25 Store sticker from a roll, sheet, or sticker book on your containers as needed.

Thanks... I have a large pantry and full freezer. I only buy sale items to build my pantry and storage. I never pay full price for anything. We have plenty of real food. Meats, flour, corn meal, beans and veggies and so on. I also can as much as I can.

Those cheese prices are really good. Those buy five for a dollar is probably what won't sell at a high price and is getting closer to use by date. Walmart and Aldi is still the best for us. Thanks for the video!

Great avocado 🥑 price! They are easy to freeze...mash...sprinkle a little lemon juice on them. They freeze for 3 months for future guacamole or smoothies. I am always working for the super bowl....more than 20 yrs now......but we try to have little party treats in the office 🏈

You can actually freeze butter also. Cream cheese doesn’t freeze well when you defrost it it separates and isn’t smooth and creamy like it was cold

@@Kaykavoosi Great question! Almost the same style of supermarkets as we had in Toronto, Canada. The same style as Danno shows in his videos. Here, the supermarket chains are hosting the super huge style, medium and smaller size stores. The only real difference is that everything is written in Hebrew and Arabic, occasionally English. I can't tell you how many times I've thought I've bought something only to find it's something completely different. Lol. The outdoor markets (shuk) are amazing. The freshest fruits, veggies, fish, and meats, cheeses.... It's also a great place for me, they are always filled with so many people (locals and tourists) looking for something wonderful to eat. The 'milk jugs' that distilled ater comes in do not store well. I picked some up when I found it and put them in the 2 1/2 gallon ziplock bags that are found at Dollar General($1 aisle) and Dollar Tree. Corn chips are going up over the reports of possible corn shortages.Many people are snapping up corn starch and corn meal, which have been low. FYI, it's pronounced "FLY-sh mans".

We have starting buying the Kroger 2-liters. Their "Dr. K" is just as good as Dr. Pepper in my opinion. Big K Cherry Cola I like too as it is less acidic than real Coke Cherry. We also get their Root Beer. They are $1.25 and you can't beat that. We buy all these in the "Zero", or sugarless varieties.

That 80/20 hamburger was a great deal. Mountain dew for 48 cans for $15 was cheaper than sam's price of $15.78 for 36 cans but I am almost 1 month into not drinking it. Love the red doritos but unfortunately it is a fritolay/pepsi product so i guess I am on vacation from buying that too. Ritz i brought an 18 pack(61.65 oz) package for $9.72 at sam last week. I noticed that sam has my butter back in and it came down $3 a package and is now $11.98 for members mark 4-1 pound packages ( red package not quartered). Depends on the weather (rain maybe changing to snow) and what I do today I might take a run to kroger for some Hamburger meat at that price, see if I end up in town today or tomorrow. I thought I had some here but my notes must be outdated and I have very little left. it was $3 something a # at sam's for the 10# rolls.

Things would be cheaper in this country if they didn't pay athletes and actors/actresses so much money. sorry, to me paying someone 50 million or more to endorse your product weather they like it or not is crazy and then only pay the person making it very little. when i worked at the store, they always had to let me know when someone new was on the wheaties box and wanted to know if i was going to run out and buy it quick. they all knew if you put an athlete or movie personal on your product, I AM NOT BUYING IT.

Headed to Kroger to get those cheese deals….and I found that the Kroger brand Donut Shop k cups were 29.99 for 120 k cups. That’s a quarter a cup! I don’t have a picky coffee palette, and I really like the Kroger brand donut coffee. I bought one box, but may go back for more!

I luv Jalepenia potatoe chips if can find them. What is a big bag of them at Kroger? I think Walmarts r great. Great Value. Been drinking Folgers French Vanilla coffee. I like it. Go Chiefs.

Good Morning, thank you for all your videos. Always great information! I am wanting to see if any of your viewers have problems with using the Kroger app in the store? I use my laptop to load coupons but use app to be sure I remember all tye items I need to buy. When I get to the store, app freezes. Has happed to me several times. 🤔

If you're near the freezer aisles sometimes there is a bad signal in those areas.

when you pan over to the right at 16:06 the tag for the origiinal big bottles v8 2.99 is there but they are out because its a good deal.... the 4.49 is the smaller one u say " i dont think included"

I quit drinking soda in 2018 The best decision I ever made . Not only have I saved a ton of money but all intestinal and stomach issues disappeared. It is a very difficult habit to quit .

Soda at our Kroger has been 4 for $12 for the past year...now its 4 for $15......Joe just said last night that grocery prices are coming down...did I misunderstand him or does the word down mean up these days?
