What a great idea letting plants be dormant under the sink! I usually throw them out when they go dormant for lack of cool and dark spaces in my 1 bedroom apartment. Thanks Jeff!

Homalomena do well for me, but they are _thirsty_ girls. I pot them up in a mix of coconut husk chips, perlite and charcoal and they love it. I keep them in a self watering pot and I try not to let that reservoir ever go dry. (The Borneo Silver, especially, gets angry if there isn't water all the time, the leaves ruffle). I really want a pink diamond but I refuse to pay $150 for a plant. I'm now waiting to see if you bought Michael's out of glitter and holiday accessories for spray foam projects.
@TropicalPlantParty18 күн бұрын
Oh yeah, self watering is a must! I've seen that pink diamond, definitely beautiful but the cost is just horrid. 😆 haven't bought out the glitter from Michele's, but Amazon is a few pounds shorter.

Hi Jeff! I used spray foam to make a full back drop wall inside my exoterra turned terrarium, I set small pots into the foam for plants and covered the wet foam in peat moss and tree fern. It looks like a beautiful rainforest 😊🌿

Thanks for catching us up with your chores! Homalomena do much better in wicking pots with plenty of vermiculite in the soil. You purchased the Selby variety. I like the leaf shape of the Emerald Gem variety. I might have to stop by Lowe’s and look for the labyrinth pots. Very appealing. 😺✌️
@TropicalPlantParty18 күн бұрын
My issue has always been just keeping the leaves looking nice. The heater really dries the air out. The pond helps counter that, maybe it will do better with the new setup.... and a self watering pot. 😆

Oregon coast, stormy over night....wind/ rain but was gone by morning... calm, blue holes, grey sky 50° @ 4 P.M. I Love your foam snow ideas....for outside.....I guess you could cover your pot with plastic wrap or alum. foil..and then coat the whole thing with foam.... so you could easy clean foam off pot in spring....but you could coat an entire pot for winter insulation..outside....if you wanted or needed to...Thanks Jeff...love your videos...❤

Hi Jeff 👋 😊 I love those hanging pots 😁 I had one of those Shocking Pink Cycleman this last spring. (Outside) I knew nothing about them, but, it bloomed til late summer here in zone 9b Texas Gulf Coast. Then it died. (Of course in a shady area) I am hoping to get me 2 Lemon Cypress come springtime. I do love all the pots. That turned out sooo cute with the foam. 😊 Thank you for sharing with us. Have a great weekend, take good care of yourself and we'll see you Wednesday. 😊

No judgement here please : I’ve been cleaning up my laundry room, it had piles of clothes in it, and I mean piles, so I’ve been washing it all and now I finally have room for my excess houseplants. 🤗 I’ve gotten everything set up and now have a very nice home for them and I can finally put up my Christmas tree because now I have room for it 🤗. I’m going to be putting a humidifier in there to help with the lack of humidity in our home and it’s far enough from the wood stove so it won’t run constantly. I am sooooo proud of myself for finally getting that room taken care of because it turned into a catch all 😱. I live in an old house and if people know anything about old houses they have no closet space, didn’t need closet space back then ,so it’s very hard to find a place to store things. Basement is not an option because it’s a wet basement which Michigan old homes are notoriously famous for.🥺 I think the back porch is going to be my savior if I organize everything okay. Because I’m at an age where who knows if I’ll be around tomorrow having things sorted out will help my children when going through the stuff they may want ! 🤗❄️⛄️🎄💚🙃 I know TMI 🤗 ❄️⛄️🎄💚🙃
@TropicalPlantParty18 күн бұрын
What a huge accomplishment! No judgemental here, ive had those massive laundry piles happen before too. The laundry mountain ranges. 😆 That's going to be such a nice thing to have that space to use!
@SimplyShazelle18 күн бұрын
I am in apt with a severe lack of storage and cupboard space too, its terrible. I'm super great at problem solving with space and organizing but that means little in here lol. Geof and other "plant" you tubers contributed to my "plantiness" turning full out jungle and therefore with no room for the "tree" it then gave the excuse for the real another plant...Norfolk pine Christmas tree :) I'm happy as long as I can keep it alive this time!
@SimplyShazelle18 күн бұрын
Oh great. Now he's given me the idea to buy another plant if I like the pot. I've never known anybody to buy the pot if you like it with the plant in it, unless you went to get that plant and it also is in the pot you like. Hahaha. I'm in trouble now.

Hubby is gone until Thursday so I can pretty much do whatever I want to, not that he stops me from doing anything, but sometimes he’s just a little more needy. We’re old farts and he’s older than me so I consider him older than dirt. He’s only 3 years older so I guess we’re both older than dirt 🤭❄️⛄️🎄💚🙃

They've had the Bamboo gingers down here for a while now. I think those are hardy 7+. Just a bit thin/weedy looking to me. LOL you and that poor Hamalomena. I've been pronouncing it as "Ham-mAl-O-mean-na" (If that makes any sense LOL) Cyclamen get me every year. I've tried to "over-summer" them dormant but have never been able to. They always rot or desiccate. Cypress will look nice with the cyclamen and amaryllis in the window! Cleanup down here, and composting. Also need to get about 200 daffodil bulbs in the ground around Christmas.

They just prefer to be outside. Kind of like the juniper bonsai that are sold all over the place, having outdoor airflow and some seasonal chill helps them along. They can be grown just fine in a very bright window for a good amount of time.

Honey you could have cut the styrofoam down a bit ? ❄️⛄️🎄💚🙃
@TropicalPlantParty18 күн бұрын
Absolutely! I'm going to give it another go now that I have a grasp on the foam and how to work with it. Only reason I didn't cut it down more was because I thought I might end up using these for something else and try over for some more shallow snow caps for these.
