T&T is owned by 2 Taiwanese owners a mom and daughter. It all started in Vancouver Canada because their wasn't any asian supermarkets back in the 90's.

T&T Supermarket is currently owned by **Loblaw Companies Limited**, a major Canadian food retailer. Loblaw acquired T&T in 2009 and continues to own and operate the chain. Galen G. Weston is the one behind things now and has been involved in grocery monopoly, bread price fixing scheme, and price gouging, to say the least. He is currently one of Canada's most hated rich person. Boycott all of his companies

I believe the Lee family still run the company - the daughter took over as CEO, under Loblaw/Weston Group of Companies after the acquisition. I believe they are also still major shareholders. If you ever go to any of the other Weston owned stores (ie No Frills, Loblaw, superstore… ) you will still find T&T products.

Those long stalks are garlic stalks or garlic scapes. Very yummy when fire roasted with salt pepper and 5 spice powder.

I thought they were chinese garlic chives (well that's what they call them where i live) not to be confused with garlic scapes, or western garlic chives both of which are different again

The hot food section at my local T&T is really good for being "steam tray" Chinese food. My favourites are their spicy "Thai" chicken and braised eggplant with potatoes. 3 items plus rice for $11 and you can usually get two meals out of it. I like to buy bbq pork and throw it in the freezer so i always have a few slices handy for a rice bowl, fried rice, or wonton soup.

Muscats are just a grape. What makes them different is they are somewhat recently developed in Japan and grown I think exclusively in Japan and South Korea under licence. They are exclusive and carefully grown so pricey.

Get the Papa Crispy Chicken! What makes it so tasty is the dry seasonings, there are two dry seasonings, one is a white paper based (my favorite) and the other is a red chili based. I usually dip my chicken in the seasonings and not sprinkle it all over the chicken.

T&T is a subsiduary of Loblaw Companies Limited , a company controlled by the Canadian branch of the Weston family (there is a UK branch which among other things owns Primark and Twinnings Tea) Loblaw, which is the both largest grocery chain and the largest drug store chain (Shopper's Drug Mart) in Canada, bought T&T in 2009 from the Lee family and paid for it in cash & Loblaw shares. Tina Lee is the CEO of the T&T division.

The unsweetened and sweetened soy milk is famous in Taiwan. Lots of tourists and locals line up at the breakfast shop here in Taipei for the soy milk and breakfast in general. Of course, it's not as good as the freshly made soy milk from the breakfast spot but the bottled version is worth a try!

I've noticed large, green grapes are called Muscats in Japan too. I believe they are seedless (at least the ones in Japan). I live in Seattle and am Asian, so I'll probably head in to T&T sometime next year after all the excitement dies down a bit to avoid the crowds. I want to try the Taiwanese unsweetened soy milk and some Japanese products I can't find at Uwajimaya's or at a more reasonable price, hoping the whole tariff thing doesn't come to fruition...fingers crossed!

I’m surprised you haven’t gone to t and t much in Vancouver out of all the times you’ve been up! It’s our standard Asian grocery store! Take a look at the t and t brand frozen food. Easy freezer staples like their steamed dumplings and green onion pancakes. They’re not mind blowing but they’re quick when you don’t have time to cook! The buns are great for grocery store buns but St Germain Bakery in Vancouver is still the best.

I can't figure the lines at T&T. When they opened to new one in Coquitlam it was the same. Is it really that great? They were opened by a lady from Taiwan, in Canada, then sold to the largest grocery chain, Weston group. They own Superstore, Loblaws, etc
@jupiterplansx12 сағат бұрын
The family is still involved with the daily operations of T&T. In fact, the current CEO is the founder's daughter and it was her idea to branch into USA. Over the years, T&T has become more than just "Chinese/Taiwanese" supermarket but they now offer a lot of different foods from a lot of different Asian countries. I personally think it's great tbh.

You know there is this thing called the internet and it has countless pages of easily accessible information available practically for free. If you had bothered to actually do a 2 minute research about the store you would have found out that it was founded by a Canadian of Taiwanese origin (I know it’s so boring cuz its Canadian so its better to just downplay the Canadian connection) named Cindy Lee and is now run by her Canadian-born daughter (there is that boring word Canada again). The chain was bought by a Canadian (boo boring) grocery store behemoth Loblaws so is fully Canadian (sorry for inflicting so many references to such a boring country on you). I mean seriously US KZbinrs have this collective inability to do even the smallest amount of info checking on stories involving Canada. We are either ignored, incorrectly labeled or deemed a socialist wasteland with a beta cuck leader. And Trump and his ilk will make it so much worse.
