Just to be crystal clear; are you stating any radiator bought from UK Radiators is guaranteed to give an output equal to or greater than that stated by the manufacturer and or on your web pages?

All of our own brand radiators are tested in the UK by BSRIA (in accordance with BSEN442) and the heat outputs advertised are the rated thermal outputs derived from tests, this has been verified by ethy as part of their product efficiency verification programme, so our own brand products carry this badge. For other brands that we sell, the manufacturers have provided us with Declarations of performance and we won't list products without these, however where these products are not our own brand we are not involved in the process for testing so we are reliant on the manufacturers DOPs (again in accordance with BSEN442). So the answer in short is that all products sold at ukradiators.com are being sold in accordance with the standards, so as far as the standards and test procedures provide a guarantee of heat outputs the answer to your question is yes.

It's worth noting that BS:EN442 allows for a 4% deviation from the DOP and there is a difference between and EN442 certification and BSI Kitemark which has more rigorous quality control standards.

Are you sure that applies to everything? There are tolerances allowed for certain measurements however these are different depending on the measurement. I don't believe there is a blanket 4% across everything. Agree there is a difference between products conforming to standards and something like kitemark however the problem we have is that there are tons of radiators on the market that do not conform to standard, the standard is not voluntary but no one is enforcing. What's worse is the brands just say the products are tested and conform when they don't. It's incredibly misleading. We are also talking about overstated heat outputs of up to 38% (on the rads we tested).

@@ukradiators Completely agree there is a big issue with non conforming products in the UK market! In reference to type testing of representative samples for ranges of products. EN442 section 6.2.1 states "In Particular the thermal output shall not be decreased by more than 4% with reference to the result of the (initial) type-test."

@sdixon92 apologies I misread your initial comment. What you are referring to there is when there is a change in certain characteristics of a product, or a new product variation is released with the intention of it being within the same range as others already tested, and determining if this could be treated as the same or if it would be an entirely new range would be required. And yes the tolerance here is that it should not be more than 4% less. There are other considerations required to determine the fit and if all of those are met, this would be the last. For example we have radiators in white that we also sell in black, where there is a difference in the finish we have performed this test and the difference is so small that it is permissible to utilise the original testing across both. We also have products in white and in chrome, we've performed the same tests but the difference is much bigger, so these must be treated as different ranges. By the sounds of things you are fully aware of all this, I'm really just explaining for anyone else that happens to read these comments 🙂. As you rightly say though there is a much wider issue at play here which is the thing we are trying to raise awareness of 👍
