Thanks from the UK Alan. i have to confess I kept skipping past this video. I like wood not metal so wasn't really interested. How that showed my ignorance. They look like fantastic tools. You always push yourself to be the better artisan and you also push others. We all strive to be as good as the old guys that we grew up with, whoever your role model was, you are now that man.

I have been waiting since late fall to get my new T fence on my saw the weather is starting to warm up so I'm hopeful by the end of the month I will be able to use it so many project to do and a good fence system will make it a lot more pleasurable.

Thanks. Was looking for a meterial to build a bench with. Have seen this stuff everywhere but didn't know it was simply called aluminium extrusion - assumed it had been patented and had a brand name. Now I know better 😃

Thanks for the low down on aluminium extrusions Allan, you certainly are an educator. Good result for The Blues! :-)

FYI... The small holes on the end of the extrusions or the outside channel can be drilled and tapped to accept an air fitting or plug. Many ideas will come from this option. Safe woodworking!

You may have noticed I tap a machine i-bolt to hang my extrusions into one of the hole ends.

Hi I'm over in Australia I brought one of your T fence a little way back and I have been looking everywhere to find a place that sells the extrusion. Because where I live isn't all the big I was having trouble finding it. Just last week I found it on eBay, it is called T-slot frame profile for CNC machine. It was only $40 for a meter and $20 post.

Thanks for that Allan. I really appreciate it. Do you think the t-nuts you supply would fit that extrusion?

Building a t square fence and rails myself. Would a 1 1/2"x1 1/2" extrusion be rigid enough for the fence?

Do you have a video on how you made the sliding table for your table saw?
@AskWoodMan7 жыл бұрын
No. I abandoned that build almost 3 years ago. It was more trouble than it was worth. I prefer to cut panels with my Festool track saw.

I have been dying to get this system but am worried that if purchasing the extrusion also it will get bent on the way to Ireland. When I bought my saw the courier that delivered it bent the original fence.
@AskWoodMan10 жыл бұрын
The extrusion we sell is a beast so it would be really difficult to bend it. That being said extrusions are widely available all over so you could get your extrusion locally and just get the t-square from us. Here is a link for UK extrusions. Perhaps this can help make a connection for Ireland. www.metallin.co.uk/shop/series-8/profile-8/aluminium-profile-8-80x40.html

hi woodman, just wanted to know, can i use aluminum extrusion to build an aquarium stand that support up to 4000 lb? subscribed
@AskWoodMan10 жыл бұрын
Cindy I am not an engineer so I feel unqualified to answer that question definitively. But draw up your plan and let one of the big boys like 8020 look at it and they will be able to tell you in seconds. All strength and load specs are know by the manufacturers. The heavy walled extrusion is some strong stout stuff so I think you should be able to make a really cool modern stand with extrusions if you size them and connect them according to spec. Keep me posted. I would like to see it if you decide to go that way. Allan
