As a former lube and tire guy at Firestone and a Chevrolet dealership, I would like to give everyone a little piece of advice. The technicians overtorque lug nuts all day long. So use a tire iron or a breaker bar to break your lug nuts free the first time. Then tighten them back on with the Hart impact wrench. I've seen technicians hammer them for 5 seconds or more, using a 1,400 ft. Lb. Matco air impact wrench or the Snap-On 700 ft. Lb. wrench, which is actually more powerful than the Matco I mentioned.

I have the Hart drill and impact with the quick connect on it that I use a lot of woodworking projects. They've been amazing and held up so well over the past year of hard abuse. The impact is quieter than my Craftman while offering the same power. Ive dropped the Hart impact from 15ft onto concrete 3 times and it hasnt broken or shown any damage. I think theyre great tools for DIY people overall.

I want to see it do some work on some nice rusty parts like you find on cars here in Michigan.
@Shoptoolreviews4 жыл бұрын
We can definitely show it on rusty bolts, but there is no way to replicate rusty bolts. One rust bolt may require double the power to remove as the next rusty bolt. This is why we like to use a bench test, so we can replicate the same force each time. However, we understand what you're talking about, wanting to see real-world application. Thanks for watching.

Did he make an error in the calculation? He said it takes about 80% of the torque to loosen versus to fasten, correct? Then he took the average fastening torque, divided by .8, and called that number the fastening torque. 9:15 Wouldn't that be the breakaway torque instead?
@Shoptoolreviews3 жыл бұрын
Nope, our math was correct. If you tighten a fastener as tight as you can, then you remove it with a torque wrench. If it took 100 ft-lbs to remove, then you know that it took about 125 ft-lbs to get it that tight (100 / .80 = 125). The fastening torque is 125 ft-lbs. Thanks for watching.

For the money it takes starting fresh to build this kit, you're not in the d-i-y/ homeowner price. You're pushing into a milwaukee fuel mid torque kit or not far from it. For $199 RIGHT NOW at home depot you can buy the milwaukee FUEL mid torque 1/2 impact wrench KIT with two 2ah batteries and a charger.
@Shoptoolreviews4 жыл бұрын
I see your point, that the dollars can creep up, but I think you are mistaking the Milwaukee Tools. You may be talking about the M12 Stubby impact with 2.0 Ah batteries. You can't get the Mid-Torque in a kit with 2.0 Ah batteries, and you definitely can't get the mid-torque in a kit for $199. Let us know the details. Thanks for watching.

@@Shoptoolreviews no sir. At the time of writing that comment. Exactly what I had wrote was on sale at my local home depot for the price I wrote. It might not be at this time I haven't looked but it was when I wrote it. I'm not tied to any particular brand of tool. If the warranty is good and it performs well I will happily buy it regardless of brand. I do like milwaukee but only the fuel line. Hand tools my tool box is a mutt. I just recently bought this & it won’t take the lugs off my car,idk if it’s the gun or the lugs..any assumptions??
@Shoptoolreviews4 жыл бұрын
What kind of car do you have? I would highly assume that your lugs are tightened way too tight. If the tire store installed them, then they probably just put their air-impact on it and held it wide-open for 4-5 seconds. If it's a passenger car, then they should be torqued somewhere between ~85-110 ft-lbs, depending upon which manufacturer. Light trucks and SUVs are usually around 110-140 ft-lbs. The impact wrench should easily take those off. Let me know. Thanks for watching.

The actual value of the number may be off a little one way or the other, but they don't fluctuate. That's what we strive for is to produce quantifiable, qualitative, and repeatable results in our testing.
