A lot of carp fishing done in my town...lots of Europeans into it, and lots of them all have their own boilie recipe...I've tried so many different kinds, they all see me using corn, and say something like, "Oh, you have to try these, you'll never use corn again!" and give me a few of their boilies. I now just decline, and the sit and watch their line as I am landing fish after fish...nothing beats some sweet canned corn in my area...gets them every time. Just look for the little wakes the fish make when moving around the river, toss a hook loaded with carp right onto their path, and wait for them to pass by again...bam, almost every time.

I have actually caught lots of carp on twister tail plastic grubs too, using them with no weight on the surface trying to pull smallies out of the shallows. Full on chase and take from a large carp one day on a black 3" grub lol

I never have carp strip my hook. But then again I use a hair rig setup. All the fish I guessed 9 pounds but I can usually guess within a pound but it's hard to tell unless I can actually see the fish in person. By the way, I've noticed that carp feed much harder when the air pressure is lower as long as the water is the right temperature so sunny days aren't always the best.

Loved the video! I don’t know where you are from, this the first video of yours I watch. You should check with local laws and regulations. In if you are in North America those carp invasive so lot of local laws are going to say not to release them into the water. Eat them, kill them, cut them for bait, but don’t release them back into the water.
@Matt-sl1wg4 жыл бұрын
Those are common carp and the where he's fishing in southern Ontario they are not considered invasive.

What rod and reel setup do you use? Do you think a medium rod and 4000 reel would work ?
@thundermistlures7 жыл бұрын
HI Domenic....I have a few different set-ups, but a medium action rod is fine for carp and I would suggest using a 7 foot rod (or even 7 1/2 foot) and as for the reel, so long as it has a good drag system and instant anti-reverse, that would do a good job for you :)
@dankaf53467 жыл бұрын
Thundermist Lures thanks!!

I did ok on the guesses for the carp. How do you locate carp? You made it look so easy lol I've tried a couple areas but never had much luck.
@Neanderthal757 жыл бұрын
If you fish in a river, look for turns and small lagoons where the water slows down. Carp is everywhere, but in slower water, your corn isn't going to be drifted away, otherwise you'd be just feeding them 500 feet away from you.
@TheFishingExperiment7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a go.

...looks like you got some great tips from Frank (thanks Frank) and in addition to his tips, if you have weed beds in the area, try fishing on the outside of the weed beds as the carp will actively follow weed edges as well :)

Get a quick question. I'm fishing in a river, which is not deep but really really wide. So, where shall I cast? Just cast near shore, or as far as possible?
@thundermistlures7 жыл бұрын
try to find a bend in the river, or some slack water and try those areas first and if the river has any weed beds, cast on the outside edge - here is a video where I am fishing a river, and it is wide, and you will see the weed beds close to shore...so chances are you should be able to cast fairly close to the shore and catch carp :)
@nilin78237 жыл бұрын
WOW! I'm excited that you give me a reply! I have been following your channel on youtube and facebook for more than two years! Thanks a lot for those videos talking about time, locations, setups, and baits! By the way, what shall I do in order to find the edge of weed beds in a muddy river?

My first guess was 10 lbs. , no.2 looks like 12 lbs. , I never ate carp , unless I was served it at a restaurant somewhere ? We used to float white bread at Constitution pond , we`ed remove crust & use no weight or swivel , only a hook tied to line then I`d lob it out , then wait & wait & meanwhile I would "make sure no ducks eat it" . Back in 1977 - 1978 years . By the way Great video , now I want to go carp fishing , license first .

Nice video, but it would've been way better if we could see those bites or hook sets (best feeling is seeing a bite and setting the hook or even better when the carp runs with the line!) , Camera should be recording all the time and cut the "waiting until getting a bite time" from it, just an idea to make the videos even better. Thank for sharing as always.
