This spring I could have fished that spot no problem. It sucks that I can't anymore given everything that's going on with my heart. Glad you got a couple of giants! I can certainly relate to trying to land fish alone in a difficult spot!

Sorry to hear about your health issues. Prayers for a recovery that puts you back where you want to be. Tight lines!

Thanks! No way around the hike unfortunately :)

@ took my boys down there when they were younger. They both thought it was a goat path not a path to the river lmao !!!
@willsworldoutdoorsАй бұрын
Hahaha. I’ve had that same thought.

Walk up is always tough, wow didn’t know the Lakers were around there. Never caught a brown. Going to have to make my way down to the Niagara… just the Canadian side. Only about 1.5hr May need an equipment upgrade though. Thanks for sharing, good video and caught some nice fish 🖖🍻🖖

Nice fish man 👊🏻🎣 what depth do you typically run that slip float at?
@willsworldoutdoors22 күн бұрын
Thanks. Most spots are going to be 15’-20’ deep, some spots are shallower than that, but it all depends on the speed of the current on that day. Adjustments are key. Get close to bottom consistently and you’ll catch fish.

Awesome video✌i got to get down there but i'd never make it out Alive 😜

Love that you advocate for the lake trout. More appreciation needs to be put on them. From my understanding, the reef along artpark accounts for the vast majority of successful lake trout spawning in the niagara. Jnstead of fishing somewhere else, people stack up in that park to fish steelhead...meaning they catch 4 lakers for every steelie they catch. I guess you can call me a grumpy tree hugger as there clearly is no lake trout population problem, but i wish people appreciated what actually belonged in these lakes and rivers as opposed to what we put there. Let the lake trout spawn and enjoy those greasy native pigs when ya catch em lol
@willsworldoutdoorsАй бұрын
That’s good info, I agree. Thanks!
@blueaggie64Ай бұрын
Lake trout spawn successfully throughout the lower river and on shoals throughout lake Ontario. Plus they release very well when matched with the right tackle. No shortage of these native fish. You don't really have a valid point. But your entitled to your opinion.

Ewe greasy? Why?
@willsworldoutdoorsАй бұрын
They are a great game fish and we’re not considering them for the table which is where the term “greaser” or “greasy” comes from.
@SouthMendАй бұрын
Those were some nice big ol lakers! There must be some nice structure there for the fish to hold
@willsworldoutdoorsАй бұрын
That spot has some nice current and big boulders in it for sure. Makes great places for fish to hold just not great for fighting and landing them.
@flyman451Ай бұрын
That first laker was exciting. It appears to be a very dangerous place to fish though! Is it as deep right off the rocks as it appears?
@willsworldoutdoorsАй бұрын
It’s actually deeper than it looks right off the edge. It’s definitely not a place to mess around but the fishing can be pretty exciting!

@@willsworldoutdoors I'd wear one of those PFD devices that self inflate when they get wet.

Thanks! We’re on the American side. It isn’t easy but if you stick with it you’ll put the pieces together. Good luck!

Great video bro, what is the technique to find right deep here to avoid snag using the float. Ty
@willsworldoutdoorsАй бұрын
Thanks! Basically start with a slip float set at about 10’ and work deeper from there until you notice it bumping bottom or dragging all g and then move your bobber stop shallower until you get a good drift. Good luck!

fighting a fish w/ your tip up gives no power and the fish is in control,low to the side and use the butt
@willsworldoutdoorsАй бұрын
Agreed, but in that spot below the water line there is a rock ledge that you need to keep your line off of and so the high rod. You’ll also see me stepping into the water and putting the rod out in front t of me with both hands to clear those rocks.

The LR is a special place ..the river structure, depth and changing current are unlike anywhere else in the Great Lakes...The river depth at the Bridge is 70 ft....so landing a fish their is always a unique challenge ...Oh yeah one false step and your toast...
