Shore Fishing in the Florida Keys! - Snapper - Grouper

When the wind picks up and it's too much for the kayak, you got to be creative. In this video I found a nice out of the way spot that was protected from the wind. I threw a DOA shrimp over the ledge and worked it back to me and the fish loved it! #mangrovesnapper #shorefishing #blackgrouper

Thanks I was stoked about it! I mean I know people catch keepers from bridges but I just can't seem to figure that out, so doing from the rocks was a nice surprise haha

What line combo do you recommend for this style of fishing? I've stayed on Conch Key twice and did more live/cut bait fishing. Coming down to Tavanier in June bringing my kid. Avid bass fisherman and love throwing artificials. We use braid to flouro here in SC for reds/trout but our water has much more "color". Thanks

Braid for sure, flouro or mono, either is fine. I usually do mono unless I'm going for bones, then I'll do flouro. The setup I have here is a 2500 Penn Battle with 15lb braid and the leader varies, depending on the fish around. 15lb - 20lb is usually safe and not much difference, but I keep a spool of 30lb and 40lb just in case I find some grouper or cudas. And then if there are too many cudas I'll put some wire at the end of that. If the fish are shy, make your leader long, 3ft is plenty, and they won't see the braid. Hope that helps! Just got home from a month on big pine key...the wind had no mercy! Fishing was good though but the wind controls when and where you fish.

This looks like a nice spot to fish in the keys. Where is this spot in the keys? Do you also need a fishing license to fish off areas like this and bridges? Never fished in the keys.

Honestly almost all of the bridges are just like this bridge in the Keys, that's what makes it so great. You gotta come down and fish it at least once in your life! Yes you need a fishing license, just varies for Florida residents or non-residents, but you can find it all online

@@pedroalonso9373 I'm sorry I can't, the best I can tell you is the lower keys. It takes a while to learn where the fish are and how to catch them, and then it's harder to find the bigger ones that haven't already been caught. There are so many land based fishing places in the Keys that you really can't go wrong with anywhere you choose!

I'll be honest I don't remember exactly haha, but either pan seared with some old bay seasoning, just salt and pepper, or breaded with panko
