We're one step closer to relaunch, as the shorepower was turned back on at the docks this past week, so I took a visit to reconnect our shorepower cable and turn in the battery charger. A much nicer day weather-wise than had been forecast and I wish I had more time there, but had to leave to take Anchor Girl out for dinner. that said, I'll be returning to prepare the dock lines and fenders ahead of launch, which is happening in a couple of weeks 😁

Just love how great of condition your boat is. I know you said it in the video, but I could tell how much you enjoy working on the boat and keeping her clean.

Oh I definitively share johnrossi6212's sentiment: Boogaboo is super clean and it's quite admirable actually... It shines in the videos and I keep shaking my head in disbelief... it pushes me to find ways to kinda do the same but it's something, lolol.

What a nice country car ride to the marina, which looks amazing and peaceful, and there's something to be said about hearing them birds... It's a therapy. The cat would likely agree, lol. You're first summer there, I hope you enjoy it! Btw, same here... my batteries stay in the boat all winter long and I never had any problems (including for another boat I had for 12 years before the Sea Ray, and same for my lawnmower tractor). Looking forward to your next video!!

Yes, it's a nice, peaceful ride into our marina and we're so looking forward to the new-to-us 'home'. And the singing birds was a welcoming sound, but our 'cat' wouldn't agree - remember that it is now going to be plural 'cats' on Boogaboo with us. Fingers crossed that the little guy situation situation works out ;-)

Thinking of you yesterday. Did the same thing, went to the boat. Put the props on and a bit of bottom paint. We will go down when the weather is a bit better and try and buff and wax the hull. Launch is set for the end of April.

After a brief return to seasonally cooler temps over the past couple of weeks, it's supposed to warm up a bit again by next weekend. If my back allows me, I just might give the hull sides a bit of a scrub once I've reinstalled the fenders and dock lines. Wish me luck 🤞

Socializing around the marina is part of boating life in my opinion. Jetlag is currently inside the marina shop for just over a week. The shrink wrap has been removed, the new AC/Heating unit is being installed, a new hose on the remote oil filter is being replaced and then she will get buffed and waxed. They are also looking at the seacocks because they just seem too tight to me. Meanwhile I am one week into a hip replacement revision and dying to get up to the lake and check on my boat.
@BoatingWithBoogaboo
@BoatingWithBoogaboo 4 ай бұрын
My problem with all the socializing is that it usually cuts into my project time 😅 If you're replacing one line on the remote oil filter, do yourself a big favour and replace all four of them - 2 per side. In my experience, and given the age of the boat, if one has failed, one or two more won't be far behind. And if you already have it in the shop being worked on, might as well have the boys do 'em all while they're down there 🔧🛢️🚣‍♂️

Yes, I was thinking of using that line when I was editing the video. I'll dive into the use of ND filters in a later vid - maybe once we're launched and a bit closer to the water;-)

I hate bringing this up, as it seems to be a sensitive subject with a number of boaters, but I've only ever once took the battery off one of our boats, and that was winter # one with our 240 Sundancer, 25 years ago. When I took it back to the boat the following Spring, I asked myself what difference did it make whether it was sitting on an unheated garage floor, or on the boat over the winter? So, from then on, the batteries always stayed aboard our subsequent Boogaboo boats and never had an issue. But what do I know about the health or longevity of boat batteries? 🫣

@@BoatingWithBoogaboo Yes, I took mine off last year and left them on this year and I received some blow back for doing so. But it did not appear to me that I really lost anything by doing so. So I think I'm sold on leaving them on board and just disconnecting them for the winter.
@BoatingWithBoogaboo
@BoatingWithBoogaboo 4 ай бұрын
@eternitysshore Not to add fuel to the debate, but I never even disconnect any of the wires. I'm confident that I'm aware of anything that might otherwise draw power during the off season, so disconnecting the leads wouldn't add any benefit for me. Just sayin' 🙂

Hey Paul…. A quick question. Do you disconnect the batteries by removing cables or just by turning off switches. Great to see you onboard and power on. B.
@BoatingWithBoogaboo
@BoatingWithBoogaboo 4 ай бұрын
Hey Blair, check my answer to that in one of the other comments. But spoiler alert: I haven't removed batteries in almost 25 years and five Sea Ray Boogaboo's 😀

@@BoatingWithBoogaboo thanks Paul. I have always left them onboard but the marina has always disconnected the black cables. As I’m now doing this I just continued but have always wondered why. If the battery switches are off then there should not be any draw ???
@BoatingWithBoogaboo
@BoatingWithBoogaboo 4 ай бұрын
@blairseward4329 Technically yes, there shouldn't be any draw, but you never know if there's that one small device or light that stays on, despite having the battery switches turned off. My recommendation would be that, if you're having the marina do your winterizing (and subsequent summerizing), then leave it with them to come up with a workable solution. If you have them change something just because you saw it in KZbin and then there's an issue afterwards, that could cause more headaches than it's worth. . .

Ya its a very opinionated topic. I've always found that my batteries will last longer if left on a smart charger. My motorcycle batteries have always lasted 7-8 years wheren others have gotten 3-4 yrs. But that my experience.
@BoatingWithBoogaboo
@BoatingWithBoogaboo 4 ай бұрын
We had battery problems on our previous boat, as the old charger was overcharging all the time and boiling them. The solution (after replacing two sets of batteries) was to replace the charger with the same smart charger as I installed on this boat - and no more problems. Here's a link to my replacing the charger on our 330 Sundancer ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/goO1g4RjhLeHes0si=yfsWk3KQ168abkTr ). That said, the charger isn't running all winter (no shorepower), so the batteries are left to their own devices ;-) Never had a problem as a result of not being charged throughout the winter, and the smart charger (as shown in this video) will do its thing to bring them back to life properly. . .
