We were very impressed with both the finish, as well as longevity of the polymer application that was done last year. Again, I can't tell you what brand that crew used, but I'm sure they all share similar characteristics. Stay tuned to see how the deck turns out, especially once I get the pinstripes removed 👍

Jescar Power Lock + is great, I've been using it for 3 seasons. When I waxed my boat I would always have to use simple green or non skid cleaner on my deck. When I switched to Jescar I just use Starke Pure clean boat soap (neutral PH) and it cleans right up. Bird crap comes off and the sun will bleach the stain if one is left a half hour later. I never have to use chemicals now. I usually apply another coat around July to get me through the rest of the season. I put Jescar on and leave it on overnight and take off the next day. This year I'm using Jescar Ultra Lock + it is supposed to be new and improved formula.
@BoatingWithBoogaboo
@BoatingWithBoogaboo Жыл бұрын
New and improved?? Sounds good good to be true 😉 I'm gonna take a look at that cleaner you mentioned. I usually use basic boat soap, just to get rid of built up dust and grime we get around the marina, mostly from too many idiots driving too fast through the gravel parking lot.

Well here we are almost a year later. What is your evaluation of this product VS Meguiar's after a season?
@BoatingWithBoogaboo
@BoatingWithBoogaboo 10 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, last season ended abruptly, so I never had a chance to even do my final boat washes. That said, the finish did stand up great the previous year (same coating) and was looking good for most of last year. All in all, I'd say it's a superior product vs. regular wax.

Due to my back surgery I had my boat buffed and waxed this year. They did an awesome job on it! I am curious if that sealant will help make the pesky black streaks easier to wash off? If it does I may have to look into that for next season. I launch Thursday!!!! Hooray!
@BoatingWithBoogaboo
@BoatingWithBoogaboo Жыл бұрын
Those pesky black streaks will always be with us, but I'd say that when the boat came out of the water last Fall, they didn't seem as nasty as was on our previous two boats. Could be a positive side effect 👍 All the best for your launch and hope that your back is gonna be healed up enough in time to enjoy that Sea Ray! Oh, and film a few videos as well 😉

Hey Paul, I'm going to look for those products. I also like the look of no stripes, it makes her look clean. Your Sea Ray has a lot of real estate. I added stripes to mine, but my center console Robalo is much smaller and to me looked better with them. Did you use any buffing compound or just the pad? I have never buffed before and do not know. Looking Great!!!!

Yes, it looks better for us as well. I'll be removing the pinstripes on the deck once we get some good weather again. Keep an eye out for that video. As for the polish, it's the same I've been using for the past 20++ years on all our boats. Check my last video to see what that product is.

Jescar polymer sealant is widely considered the ‘go to’ paint sealant for auto detailing. Obsessed Garage has some very good videos on using Jescar polymer sealant. One point to note, you can ‘layer’ it - after you use the sealant, you can top coat with a quality wax to further enhance shine and depth, but also as a sacrificial barrier coat. FYI - Your approach to applying by hand is the right approach. Sealant doesn’t require machine application.

Hello Maja, Yes, I know where you are in the world, as my mother was from the much smaller country of Estonia, and lived in Sweden for a few years before eventually coming to Canada 🇪🇪🇸🇪🇨🇦. Not sure if you've ever had a chance, but there's a fellow who posts long and lovely videos from his cruising through the area - no talking, just beautiful views, not unlike my boring Sit Back Sunday vids. As for your possible new Sea Ray, go to the Sea Ray corporate site, as they have most owner's manuals for most models going back to the start of time 😉 Check it out here; www.searay.com/us/en/owners.html

To this point, I've done both hull sides below the rub rail. That took less than a half a bottle of the material. I'll be doing the deck, transom, etc., in the coming weeks, but I'm thinking I'll still have material left over.

Yesterday I was able to remove the pinstripes from the port side deck and applied some of the polymer after buffing. I didn't/not going to put anything in the horizontal parts of the deck, just giving them a polish. I had a hard slip and fall lat summer when washing Boogaboo and don't want to loose Anchor Girl over the side when we're docking. Besides, I smashed a perfectly good bucket when I fell 😜

I have been using Jescar Power lock for several years. Last year I used Jescar Ultra Lock. Same as Power Lock but with a ceramic additive which increases shine and longevity. These sealers need a clean gel coat to bond with. After polishing use Mother CMX to remove any oils or left over polish. It sprays on and wipes off with a micro fiver towel very well easily. Once you prepped the gel coat then apply Jescar Ultra Lock or Power Lock using a wax applicator pad by hand. Use either product sparingly! It does not need a lot of product. More is not better it is waste. In your video you applied far too much product. After at least 30 minutes wipe off with a microfibre towel. A second coat to increase durability can be applied after a cure time if 3 hrs for the first coat. Just sharing my experience so your viewers get the most out of your great videos.

Sealants r always better then waxes or carnuba waxes. Sealants r man made and can last for 6-8 months depending on the brand and will stand up to the heat. carnuba waxes can actually burn off with too much heat. Like applying to a car and when it sits outside in the sun all day and the metal is too hot to touch. Most of the protection will b gone after that. Carnuba waxes tend to have a wetter look then sealants. But I’d rather have protection. Sealants r the way to go.
