With her team of archaeologists, Tori heads to the Fife coast in Scotland to search for an industry that once dominated its shoreline; they find stone carvings left by one of Scotland's oldest tribes; learn about one of Britain's railway disasters.

Every day, on a sandy beach or a rocky foreshore, fascinating historical evidence appears and disappears as the tide rolls in and rolls back out again across the British coastline. Palaeontologist Dr Tori Herridge and experts from CITiZAN (the Coastal & Inter-tidal Archaeological Network) investigate the stories behind these intriguing remains. From abandoned villages, prehistoric footprints, shipwrecks, and submerged forests, we follow the clues to how people have survived on the coast, how they’ve learnt to live alongside the sea. It is an archaeological race against time as Shoreline Detectives battles to capture a vanishing past for us all to see.
