Hey btw you should tell them a way to disable staling. It helps a bunch as if you get used to the timing of it unstale you can never do it too fast. Source: this used to be a huge problem of mine. I could never combo of the first shine of a stock but after it was 1 unit stale i could do multishines and westballz shines perfectly (on shield) with no effort.
@RemixSSBM7 жыл бұрын
That's actually a pretty significant thing that I haven't thought much about in the past. Thanks for pointing it out. Depending on what you're doing, you may want it on or off. Go to the debug menu and find the "damage staling in develop mode". You can disable the staling there, then in game, pause and keep pressing dpad right until you turn on both 20XX and develop mode, then unpause with X+dpadup. Savestates reset staling as well, so if you need to practice combos with specific pre-existing stale queues, or perhaps a fresh queue, Dpad right to save, dpad left to load.
@sprenzy79366 жыл бұрын
So the most optimal way to practice combo is to practice unstale?
@AfroSnackey6 жыл бұрын
What does staling have to do with the timing?
@RemixSSBM6 жыл бұрын
+AfroSnackey Hitlag is determined by damage, so if staling crosses a certain point, it can change the timing for techniques. For example, as Fox if you shine someone 9 times in a row, the 10th will only have 4 frames of hitlag instead of 6, changing the timing.

You should have had a section about double lasering, practicing low ones and high ones. Practicing double lasering from the edge, low and high, and practicing the short hop reverse double lasers to edge guard after grabbing the edge is really good as well. Regardless still an amazing video.
@RemixSSBM7 жыл бұрын
Those lasers don't require extremely precise inputs that you'd want to practice every day like what I tried to put in the routine here. Not that you shouldn't practice them, but I'd group them together into a separate practice routine that focuses on all sorts of lasers, which you could do in addition to this on a day where you devote a longer time to a practice session
@narutouzumakijoshua7 жыл бұрын
Remix sounds good, might also want to add a section in there of like a minute of wavedashing out of shield and doing short hop aerials out of shield (forgot if you included those already)
@RemixSSBM7 жыл бұрын
I have an analog short hop aerial out of shield (down air) in this, so you could change that to any aerial basically. But in general, change the routine to whatever you want. This is a framework, so if you need to work on wavedashing out of shield, fit it in somewhere. I'd probably recommend somewhere near the beginning or in the first half.

I know this video isn't intended to tell you how to practice, but the only thing I can't find information on how to do correctly is the dash>wavedash I always end up shielding or spot dodging (I can do a wavedash on its own though). I'm pretty new to melee and I want to try and get my movement down and this seems pretty important.
@RemixSSBM6 жыл бұрын
+Duke Dijon of Dunkirk Best tip for you I'd probably say is to slow it down. Put long pauses in between each movement so you have time to think of what you need to do. The more you do it slowly, the easier it will get and the faster you can go. Getting a shield or spot dodge makes me feel you're going to fast and losing track of input order. Keep it slow and methodical. Dash, jump, air dodge.
@MapOfTheLost6 жыл бұрын

@Aio-Project6 жыл бұрын
these guides are ait, you should start with just dashes or wavedashes and slowly warm up to complex grounded movement. also practicing laser-dash back or laser-wavedash back are a huge part of his neutral so those need to be included. also shine grab itself is not hard, you need to practice it after a sh nair or laser. also i don’t understand the falcon techchase mentality either. that’s something a lot of falcons cannot do consistently. it’s much more important to practice your own characters punish game. with the space animals reaction tech chases are just about positioning yourself after something like a nair that puts your opponent in knock down

That step is intended for you to learn and react to different tech options. It's a simple set-up that can be explained regardless of the character being played. There's probably other tech situations that you can and should practice on Falco, but IDK exactly what to recommend. It's just important that you practice reacting to techs in some way

Not sure I like this. Every single thing on this list depending on your player level deserves a lot of attention if you are not so good at them. In my mind it's much better to focus on one particular tech from week to week and it's implementation (outside of playing people) while practicing the other tech you already know in friendlies. It's pretty often you see people with a lot of random tech but also with a lot of inconsistent tech which is what I imagine lightly practicing each one often leads too.
@RemixSSBM7 жыл бұрын
The idea of this routine is to optimize your practice to save time as much as possible. There have been many studies that show that learning something is most easily done via daily practice and sleep. Volume has been found to help, but it's less playtime-efficient. If you need to learn something incredibly fast, yes, you'll likely need to spend a lot more time on it, but this routine is designed as a long term time saving supplement to help focus practice on important techskill without getting sidetracked. I aimed to hit most of the important pieces of techskill in this, and to distribute the time in accordance to how important they are. It's just a suggestion though, and ever player should tweak it if they know certain things need to be worked on more than others. For a complete beginner, this routine probably goes too quick for people to execute some of the moves even once, so in that case, they'd definitely need to spend more time, but this is intended for mid level players who should already be able to do most of this, or at least learn it with a small amount of practice, and then iron it out through days of repeated use.
@kyleblasberg7 жыл бұрын
I think this training routine is more for polishing up your tech skill and working on being able to do everything more cleanly and consistently rather than learning new tech
@Verdal_JG7 жыл бұрын
I like this list, but i think you put too much emphasis on multishine/weston dennis pressure, instead of focusing on the lasers. Many mid-level falcos like me have trouble moving around with lasers on platforms, dropping under them consistently and lasering, etc. Loading up on yoshis is the best way to practice it, since the timing window is pretty strict for this.
@RemixSSBM7 жыл бұрын
Right, I agree... But lasers are pretty complex and hard to slot into a routine like this, especially if people aren't aware of which lasers are possible and which they should be practicing. I simply put 2 basic defensive lasers since they are easy to explain, and left out all the complex ones for a separate laser practice routine. I felt I couldn't fit in any significant laser things without breaking the flow, or making it strange to not include others, which would make the routine longer than 30 minutes, and I wanted to avoid that. If there are certain lasers you think are super important, you can slot them into this routine as you see fit. Personally though, I'd leave them to a separate routine.
@nyaxellemonte42307 жыл бұрын
I don't understand how you dash dance like that. I can only move very slightly left or right with my dashes. It takes about 20-30 dashes to make it to the other side of the stage. Am I moving to quickly or something?
@RemixSSBM7 жыл бұрын
It just takes practice. Try to think of it as a "1-2.... 1-2.... 1-2...." kind of timing, where 2 inputs are close to each other, then there is a delay before it repeats. Getting across the stage in a certain number of dash dances takes practice and is why I suggest practicing it daily. Make sure you're not releasing the stick after you dash, as that reduces your distance you travel. The longer you can delay in between repetitions, and the shorter you can make the time between 2 the quick inputs, the less repetitions you will need to get across the stage.

Think of it as the initial b is just a start up, then for each shine after that you slide from y to b. And yes, hitting changes the timing by one frame, so I recommend practicing on a shield or something until you get the timing down.
