I wish Sevenair had better advertising. The Portimao (Algarve) to Cascais (Lisbon) route would be packed if tourists knew about it. So much faster than a bus or a train, and still very reasonable for a flight.

They don't care, government subsidies them
@DarthFurball4 күн бұрын
@@hcardoso but that's the thing - the government subsidies could be used to focus on the rural routes, while this major route would be super-profitable (so the airline wouldn't need to rely on the government). But nobody knows about them. Even some simple advertising on travel Facebook groups, or word of mouth through local guides would go a long way...

Yes. I live 5 years in Portugal...never heard of them. It is a shame.

As a Sevenair academy student, I loved the video. Always saw this aircraft taking off, landing and going to maintenance in Cascais but it's the first time I see a video presenting the flights it does Thanks for vlogging the trip

Love it, thanks for sharing. I flew from LPCS so many years, so many landings on this particular runway, great footage!

Great vídeo. I'm from Vila Real, great to seen it on video! Unfortunately, as far as I'm aware, they stopped this flights.

I'm living in Portugal for 15 years and never heard of them. Now that I've heard of them, they have just suspended flights. My luck 😕

A few years ago I used to do this route, mainly from Lisbon. I never went back when in Vila Real the plane ran out of runway twice and only managed it the third time. I will never forget that cliff.

Congratulations on a very original video. As far as I can determine yours is the first on KZbin showing this flight. I see on the Sevenair webpage that they were suspending their service on September 30. Apparently the government owed them 3.8 million euros in subsidies. Then, in the Jornal de Negocios online from October 28 it says that the government will start paying what it owes from 2022 and 2024 and expects to pay what is owed until the end of the year. So, I guess the company started flying again. This flight is obviously a money loser and the government has to help the company with subsidies just to keep the service going. I would love to take that flight but riding in a 38 year old plane doesn't entice me.

Haven't followed up on that but I figured they may find a solution 👍.

@@walkingtoairports Sorry about the disconnect. Only after getting to the end of your video did I see your message. I thought you had made the flight after October1. Anyway, it's an original video although the sound will never be very good due to the engine noise.

While I worked as ATCo, and I worked for 31 years always in LPCS, this Route was discontinued and resumed by the Government maybe four of five times, always for the same reason: deficit, very limited demand. The Government didn't wanted it, all Town Halls wanted it back. Intimately, I called this Route _The Athlete's Foot Route:_ Never present forever, vanishing unexpectedly but guaranteed to be back some day. 😄 Another Company used a BN Islander for the same Route, which was outrageously inadequate and ended up taking ice and destroyed in a forced landing, and a Beechcraft Baron, until finally settling in the very capable DO-228.

Very nice video, I always dreamt to do this trip (never had time to do it) but then when I finaly had time they suspended all flights since Sep 30th (I was not sure why). Do you know by any chance why those stops were 3 min only? do they boarded passengers in 3 minutes??
@walkingtoairports5 күн бұрын
It's possible, especially if there are only a few passengers and the baggage is well-organized. They leave the right-hand engine running during the process so they can be off pretty quickly.

this was clearly in summer by the colour of the vegetation: fields are yellow from July to September and green the rest of the year.

For decades, air services in the interior of Portugal have been created and eliminated due to disagreements with the governments and the reasons is that governments are corrupt and incompetent. Take it from me, unfortunately, I'm Portuguese but a smart one, I left that failed country and moved to Australia.

Greetings from Estoril...Been a legal resident here since 2016. Portugal needs to invest in Interior Jet Service throughout Portugal...There are many airports that could be used and expanded runways need to be constructed...Every other country has quality low cost service...I have been all over the country...either via Bus or train...in 2024 there is no excuse...For anyone needed Taxi service in the future...Google for a local driver in the area before the journey and communicate with them...I have taxi drivers through out the country...And they will take you no matter what time of day it is...Boa Sorte...😉👌
