The Short C-23 Sherpa was designed as a twin-engine turboprop strut-braced high-wing aircraft with an H-shaped tail assembly. The aircraft was built on the basis of a fuselage with a length of 17.7 m with a square cross section and characteristic nose and tail contours.
Short C-23 Sherpa is equipped in the center section of two Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-45-R turboprop engines with a capacity of 1200 hp each. The motors were equipped with Hartzell five-blade variable-pitch propellers with a diameter of 2.82 m.
Short C-23 Sherpa has a cruise speed of 350 km/h (220 mph), a maximum range of 1,239 km (770 mi) with a payload of 2.2 tonnes. The aircraft was operated by two pilots, the third crew member was responsible for handling cargo.

@@brentmonkhouse6638 woah! Serious spending, I get a feeling that ww3 is coming! I saw some aerial views in the northern territory, can't remember who but the rivers had been bulldozed! I've also seen methane bubbling in rivers from fracking and crazy police!

That aircraft would probably make a very good lightweight fire bomber for areas with rough terrain that large aircraft define difficult to access

Intresting design, from looking at the wing area it seems that the fuselage probably provides lift as it's shaped like a wing section! I can't help laughing at the short lived American cammo pattern that blends perfectly with grandmas sofa! Lol:) great video again! Took a while to watch as I was still in comments from the other!

The fuselage provided 17% lift, the wing struts like 7% (I cant remember) and the landing gear stubs like 3%. I was an FE back in the day.

The Army needs to adopt another newer aircraft similar to this. Being able to carry medium loads and land on short runways is a good ability to have.

And now the Spartan C27 also was cancelled. I guess its parachutes out of the back of a C130. Personally, I liked the Spartan. Can you do a video on it?

Sir, thank you for this video. For further information: 1 - Developed from the Short Skyvan ..... 2 - .....itself taken over from the Miles Airvan after Miles was wound up. 3 - This series of aircraft (from Airvan to Sherpa) uses a high aspect ratio wing, as can be seen; looks like a school foot-ruler. This was adapted from the Hurel Dubois very-high aspect ratio wing, of which Miles bought the design. This has much to do with these aircrafts' performance. You can see the Hurel Dubois wing on: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurel-Dubois_HD.31 which has a concave underside.
