It's 70 years old, hasn't had the best of care in it's life and it's still on the road. I guarantee whatever it is you are driving will not be on the road in 70 years... in fact it won't even make half that.

My first car in black. The Anglia was the detuned version of the Popular - Pop 1172cc , Anglia 998 cc, both sidevalves. Got 62 1/2 out of mine downhill and 59 on the flat - hair raising!

My Grandfather had one of these contraptions and managed to crash the thing. When he got it back after its rebuild, it had been fitted with the later plain tin dashboard, and the 10hp-type steering wheel. Its character was lost!

Oh good grief, I remember those ! about fifteen years after that was registered, those were everybody’s first motor. The first one we had, we had to to replace the wooden floorboards, we did that with real second hand floorboards and loads of Synthaprufe , (black jack made by the Coal board).

You must be able to smell the exhaust fumes with the noise it makes. Bit too fast for one of those. Good nostalgia though.

Missing a cylinder and synchromesh

Yeah, my ear isn't very good at detecting these things. but I did a compression test straight after this run and found cylinder 3 down. Burnt exhaust valve, hopefully I'll get it replaced and running a bit better soon
