Does every liberty have an LSD? I thought they didn’t have LSD’s which made people sad for off-road use.

The friction modifier allows for more slip, and NOT the opposite.

Considering the interval for this fluid change is 20,000 miles, it's ridiculous that you have to remove the cover and remake the gasket every time. I wonder why they didn't put a drain plug on it.

You can buy a liquid hand transfer pump with tubing for something like 15 bucks at Harbor Freight (Amazon and Walmart have stuff like that, too) and suck the oil out after pulling the rubber plug in the cover. Fill it back up after you've sucked out as much as possible and reinstall the plug. If you want to make sure you've done a really good change out, do it again in a month or so. That's how I do it. You only need to pull the cover if you want to inspect the gears, which I wouldn't do unless there's a indication of a problem. I put the pumped out oil in a Mason jar and inspect it in front of a light for metal wear. I think I've seen aftermarket covers with drain plugs in them when searching for Jeep parts, also. Don't remember where, though. I even have a brand new Mopar rubber plug in the packaging in case the installed one were to rip or tear when I'm pulling it. Never had a problem, but you never know.

@@SSN515 Yeah, I actually have a fluid extractor which is use for oil changes and transmission drain & fills. I'm definitely going to use it to do this too. I just don't understand why they didn't put a drain plug in there. Fair enough if the interval was 100k miles or something, but it's ridiculous to have to do this for a 20k mile interval fluid.

@@thepenultimateninja5797 I figure they bought a couple of gazillion pumpkin covers without drain plugs wholesale cheap and have been using them ever since. Almost every rapid oil change and shop who does "differential service" pulls the rubber plug, hose sucks it out, and fills it back up. Nobody really pulls the cover. Except maybe the dealers. For a big fee.

75W-140 is for trailer towing. if just a grocery getter, you can use use 75w-90. 75w-140 won't hurt but it will (theoretically) give you worse gas mileage. Also slip additive only for vehicles equiped with Trak-Lok (Some 4WD models only)

@@ruplrichard mine took probably about 2.75l. 3 * 1 quart bottles, but didn't use all of the last bottle.

King in Yellow is there a brand of oil you prefer? I was thinking of putting AMSOIL 75w-90.

@@bobgil3464 Anything with an SAE seal will be fine. The difference in oil quality these days isn't nearly what it was 30 years ago.

Yes 75-140. The higher the age or mileage, the higher the number of oil viscosity. I have seen dummies adding new car oil to old cars. Then complain about oil use. Old things need thicker oil.
