This is so awesome. I got both R and Haldex Competition controller based on this video and was not disappointed - Golf R is closest thing to 4WD karting with HCC and I love throwing back end out of the corner on exit, which works better when suspension is softer, but best feeling is in Sport hitting corner at right speed, feeling all 4 wheels grip and than rip the throttle on exit for just a smidge of oversteer before acceleration hits you in the back like train. By far most fun I had in car so far and to think journalist say R20 is boring, only tells me they driven one without HCC and they stayed within grip limits - that makes it boring yes - so does having sex with cloths full on. Thank you once again for great clip!

Thanks a lot, I´m very happy I could help someone in that case. :-) I totally agree in your comment, the HCC brings Haldex to a new level und makes your car feel so much better and faster. The R was sold last year and I got myself a Audi TTS, which is Haldex Gen. 4 as well. Changing the stock Haldex-ECU to HCC was the first step i made. :-D

Thank you for showing this hard driving video. You appear to be a better driver than I as I watch you manage that increase in oversteer. :) My 2018 Golf R feels a bit punishing when I mess up the corner entry, but it almost looks like the extra bit of rear axle power allows you to make up for too much entry speed with a little more mid-corner slip. I'm going to favorite this video so that I can convince myself to buy this later. Are the stock programs in the 7R still available? The description from HPA doesn't really tell me how whether I can still daily drive on Eco mode without it being super grabby. The most wonderful thing about this car is the dual-personality 30mpg one day and the next I'm hammering 80 miles per hour through a long sweeper and I'd like to retain both.

How do you maintain haldex system after the installation? Not running 50 50 all the time, often haldex oil change..? Also i read haldex system shut itself down after oil reach 90°C is that true? If it's true it take how much to be the case in outside temp let say 15°C . Thanks
@Stefan_Fuchs3 ай бұрын
Hi! The Competition Controller is not always 50/50 distribution, it still works automatically. I always did oil changes once a year, but my cars were also used on track. Oil change intervals mostly depend on the kind of use, if you go just street, it's propably no problem to use the oil 20-30.000km. My TTRS is the third car where I use the Competition Controller, never had any issues with any of my cars. I also never had a shutdown, even at hard track driving with slicks and ambient temperatures above 30°C.

beginning of the video, its oversteers which is great!! what settings were you on? what is the front/rear power distribution at that setting?
@Stefan_Fuchs6 жыл бұрын
fastanfun The Competition Controller cannot be adjusted in power distribution. It's all automatically like the stock control unit, but with earlier and more torque distribution to the rear axle.
@fastanfun6 жыл бұрын
so its a pre-set power distribution. do you know power send to the rear on each setting? I just wonder if this think can turn golf r, into audi r8 type of rear wheel based all wheel drive?
@Stefan_Fuchs6 жыл бұрын
The power distribution is still fully variable and self-acting, there are no different settings to choose - like it is with the stock control unit. The difference is, that more torque is transferred overall to the rear axle, but still depending on the driving situation, traction etc... Here´s the product link: www.hpamotorsports.com/gen-4-competition-haldex-controller Turning the Golf into a sort of rear wheel based vehicle will not work, because of the permanent powered front axle. So the system isn´t able to go more than 50:50 between front and rear.

Hi, i see there's a HPA controller for gen5 haldex. Do you think worth It on a S3 8v?
@Stefan_Fuchs Жыл бұрын
Hey Gerardo! Im sorry, but I have no experience with Gen5 controllers. But as I know from my Golf 7R the Gen5 system already works much better in OEM configuration than the Gen4 does. Therefore, I don't believe, that a Haldex Controller on a Gen5 works so much better, but I could be wrong. I would probably save the money and get myself a rear LSD, THAT is a huge improvement.

Macht die haldex kupplung probleme beim 6 r? Wollt evtl einen kaufen. Wäre cool wenn du mir sagst auf was man da achten kann
@Stefan_Fuchs8 жыл бұрын

Can you drift it when it’s wet/dry? Or does it just understeers?
@Stefan_Fuchs3 жыл бұрын
Depends a lot on engine power, with stock engine/power it is still difficult. But with about 350hp/500Nm (and above) the car can go sideways in the wet if you want. But the Golf won't turn into a drift machine, therefore you'll additionally need a rear-LSD. Also you'll need a more aggressive suspension setup an wheel alignment.
@Benslappz953 жыл бұрын
@@Stefan_Fuchs thanks for answering. I had a facelift Audi TT 2.0tfsi 211hp / 350nm Quattro 8J, but found it very much understeering then sliding. In snow aswell.. I find often Haldex cars especially confusing to drive in snow because I never know how it will react.. Drove a BMW F20 with xDrive the another day and found it very fun, tailhappy and predictable. I really wish the Haldex controller would solve the «problem» cause i really like the powertrain and looks!

Can this controller install on 7r?
@Stefan_Fuchs5 жыл бұрын
No, the Controller is only for Haldex4 generations, just like Golf 6, Audi S3 8P, TT 8J etc. But I had a 7R on my own and in my opinion, the Haldex works perfectly and similar to a Haldex 4 System with Controller.

carthrottle fan Well, the Golf won't become a drift machine like the Focus RS, but at least the car becomes much more agile and understeer is almost eliminated. Just the way a sporty hot hatch should be from the factory.

Stefan Fuchs How much power can you send to the back?
@Stefan_Fuchs6 жыл бұрын
Sean Volker The amount of maximum torque at the rear axle stays the same, so Haldex can only be 50:50 in best case (as OEM). The system still distributes torque automatically between the axles, there's no possibility to intervene manually. The main differences to OEM are, that more torque is earlier sent to the rear and the Haldex-clutch stays closed under braking, which "stretches" the drivetrain and makes the car more stable.
