3 years late, but better late than never: The no-lift shift feature talked about here does the same thing as you would do on your own when shifting (getting off the throttle) it just does it the moment you start to press in the clutch pedal and then goes to the 98% or above throttle position when you released the clutch after changing gears. So the wear on the clutch is a bit more, but not significantly enough to matter, compared to doing it manually. The launch control will obviously contribute to clutch wear, but so would holding the RPM and then going full-throttle for just a few moments when launching to build boost, as you would do when you launch manually.

@@markusz2n thanks, and it should be said that you dont normally use no-lift-shift all the time. I think when riding in city its definetly not necessary.

how bad is the no lift shifting on the car over time? or is it programed to be safe? traditionally no lift shifting is really bad for your car so im wondering since it is tuned in the cars computer does it make it safer? Thanks.

Nice feature for the Mk6 R, that car came over here half-baked and needs all the help it can get. Had VW offered a DSG it would be on my shortlist (along with the current R and S3) but the manual really holds the car back.

Why would you? Sounds like a great way to grenade your gears. You can no clutch downshift if that’s what you are talking about, but I don’t recommend doing that much either.

This adjustment is controlled by the ECU. The launch limiter on a DSG vehicle is controlled by the TCU.

The electric steering rack has a feature to counter torque steer and it works very well, it's been introduced in the mk5 and now it's even more refined.

Xavier Lemos I don't understand what you're trying to say. The 6 speed Dsg box' that's in the Mk5,6,7's can do both of those features. The feature that you were talking about, is no-lift shifting. The Auto box does have a clutch you can manually press.

My GTI is MT so the NLS is a great feature for it! And yes, i use the man pedal, no DSG for me... But thanks for the reminder!👍🏻

anygivingsunday I don't think that this will work on the GTI. Because the GTI uses the MED17 ECU and the R uses the old MK5 MED9 ECU.
