Great video Brian! Thank you for explaining why the Peavine Line is called by that name. I was windering why this former Norfolk & Western had that name. I enjoyed the switching moves in Batavia, Ohio. That was interesting to watch the train moving back and forth across the bridge. I understand why you were reluctant to cross that street in order to do some recording from that view point. I was watching the vehicles moving on that street and I had the feeling that the vehicles were moving fast. Your shot of the train comming up to the summit of the hill was enhanced by the driver who stopped at the crossing and then backed up so that he/she was not blocking your view of the train coming up the hill to the crossing. Keep up your documenting of the Cencinnati Eastern.

I genuinely enjoy your Batavia, Ohio CCET videos!!!! Plenty of boxcars and customer delivery and switching action make these videos first rate and first class!!!! Please keep them coming!!!! The UCRY boxcars with the small blue “SAPPI” decal to the left of the door (most visible in video minutes 18:18 to 19:50 and 21:52 to 23:30) are, as you noted, most likely loaded with paper, in these cars, paper manufactured by SAPPI (SAPPI Limited, originally incorporated as South African Pulp and Paper Industries Limited in 1936) which has 2 mills in Maine, one in Westbrook and one in Skowhegan. These SAPPI tagged UCRY boxcars appear to be in dedicated or assigned service to SAPPI and loaded cars originate on PanAm Railways and are interchanged with both NS and CSX. In carrying SAPPI paper, the cars were very likely loaded at the SAPPI mill in Skowhegan, Maine, which has an extensive railroad infrastructure (loading areas and yards).

This tape is one of my favorites in that the units stepping out in town plus up the hill are great sounds. Is Main St part of any old US Hey? The 7 piers in every corner just speak volume's of post WW2. progress. Seeing the piece of post on those concrete steps really made my day. I wouldn't be surprised if after the new bridge was built there was no easy access road much less a street to the depot. So you could get to the passenger trains this had to do. We've got something like this in Milwaukee off 58th St north of State east of now thru street Hawley Rd Along with the arch by the huge sewer connection to the creek the large eagle proudly proclaims WPA 1935. The pathway made from hewn limestone hasn't been walked on in years and was for bus passengers way back when. It still ends on the side yard of a home on Notre Dame Ct forgotten to time except for us who appreciate the era of growth with unique skills and design. Many thanks! Oh yes this was the correlation of Stephen Dembrowski who shoots Pan Am where the paper loads start WWOT catches the cars on the main and your tape shows the CCET delivery. Now that takes some doing!

@@JawTooth Brian, I agree, those engines had a road/ switching selector that allowed the traction motors to transition and more then likely that engine we are focused on here has a ( ground fault ) in one of its traction motors and more then likely it will be hauled in tow back to where it was acquired from for a swap out, CSX does TM swap outs on the line of road being an easy fix and it’s costly for any high capacity engine to be out of service and back hauled because the repair facilities are to far apart…..”line of road” repairs are common today…..it would be cool if you can ever capture one, keep the video going son……👍mike~~~

Good on the folks in Batavia for keeping the 'heritage' bridge, i.e., Norfolk & Western, from being graffiti marred. In other news, switching is always time consuming. Curious abut the first box, i.e., ATW. The Atlantic and Western Railway (reporting mark ATW) is a Class III short-line railroad operating about 10 miles (16 km) of track in Lee County, North Carolina. Atlantic and Western is part of Genesee & Wyoming Inc. and formerly part of Rail Management and Consulting. It was reorganized in 1927 from the Atlantic and Western Railroad. FYI.
