How to Knit Short Row Heel with W&T (wrap and turn). This is a demonstration of the techniques needed to work a Short Row Wrap and Turn heel, including a method to avoid the hole at the junction of the heel and instep once the heel is finished. This is demonstrated using the Continental Knitting method.

Wow! You are a sock saver! I am making toe up socks for the first time and am at the short row heel. I have written instructions for this and I was going along alright until I got to 'unwrapping' the stitches and saw "this stitch is now wrapped twice". Wha?!?? Your video really helped to straighten this out for me. You make this look easy and I think I can get through it. I've been making socks 2 at a time on 2 circulars for about 5 years, but this is my first attempt at toe up socks. The heel thing has always confounded me. I have another video that shows a shadow wrap technique that looked easier, but I need to understand how the short row heel works before I customize anything. Thank you for saving my sanity. I've never even heard of a "wrap & turn" heel; today I opened a yarn-with-pattern socks kit and there it was (not well-explained). I guess I've always knit GSR heels. They seem less clumsy to me. And now I have the second sock heel to look forward to. Sigh. Thank you for your very valuable tutorial.

This is a great demonstration and I follow you up to that last SSK on the final row of the heel. It looks like you dropped one of the wraps. What I understand you to do is remount the stitch on the left needle, then pull the wraps up on the left needle and knit all three together. Right? Looks like a great, hole-free heel!!

Again you carry the process through to its conclusion for all of the beginners/novices; thank you. Question can I keep both socks on my needles with magic loop and while knitting heels? I read that you knit sock on right, then left, and then together when you rejoin in the round. Your thought? Have you make a video on this topic? Thanks.

Yes, you can keep both on your needles. You will need to work each heel separately though.

I have a question. If the pattern says "knit 10 stitches, wrap and turn," do I wrap and turn the 10th stitch or the stitch after that?

Yes, it is the same whether with two circulars or with magic loop. The last little trick for closing the hole between the heel and the instep, is to, wrap the first stitch on each side of the instep, then go back to knitting gin the round and pick those last two wraps up on the first round. You can do that on magic loop as well.
