Assuming the average person oils their cuticles often, it can be possible to "break the seal" along the edge gently before soaking. It can help with removal. You can also try to put cuticle oil along the edges to try to seep in to break up the glue/tabs.

Yeah, oils and also a small drop of remover can work too. But I guess with remover the presson would be damaged haha so maybe just oil can do the trick!

Perfect timing! I'm applying press ons tonight for my birthday tomorrow! I tend to get a lot of damage with press ons due to me having thin nails so I will try a combo of roughing up the press on, using nail stickers, and maybe a dot of glue in the center of the nail. Thanks for the advice!

@@PolishLabRat Thank you!! Applying the nails with the sticky tabs was tricky, but it helped with no damage on my natural nails. I got a days wear or less on my thumb and index finger. I think this is because I use them so much and the sticky tabs were not placed as well. Either way, I'm really happy that I was able to take all the nails off a day or two after my birthday outing. 😊 Thanks again!

Thank you for this very informative video. Back in the day - like mid 80s (more years ago probably than you have been alive or at least. can remember😂) - I could grow my nails like crazy, but for some reason, liked the shape of press ons better than my own (they made my nails look like your natural nails ❤) so I used them some. I didn’t use nail glue. I used either Super Glue or Crazy Glue 😑 and then would pull and tug and peel them off when I got tired of them. (I wonder how many ways you can spell STUPID?) After my daughter was born (mid 90s), I couldn’t grow my nails anymore, so I quit polishing or anything. When she got married, she paid to get my nails done (acrylic polish). I loved it and kept getting them done😊. Well, my nails were so bad that I had to give that up and started polishing my nails myself, with regular lacquer, which sure has come a long way since the 80s!!! I cannot grow my nails to any length because they are paper thin, so I have come to enjoy them short. I have considered some press ons, but I don’t want to commit to one color. Back in the day, press ons were like a flesh or white color and you painted them after they were attached. You could use non-acetone remover to clean them off and change colors. I have not seen anything like that in stores anywhere. Does such a thing still exist? I probably wouldn’t try it anyway. I enjoy painting my pitiful little short nails and it doesn’t cost as much.😂 Any advice from anyone for strengthening/hardening my naturals? Also, they peel.

I don’t have advice I can explain in a comment response, but I so so so so highly recommend you look at “The Salon Life” channel on KZbin for a huge array of videos on nail health for all diff kinds of issues! Best of luck! ☺️💅🏼❤️ (and thanks for watching!)

@@PolishLabRat Thank you. I watch The Salon Life all the time and find her videos very informative. I stopped polishing my nails for a little over three months, did the warm oil soaks and wear gloves religiously while doing chores, and had them looking pretty good, but as soon as I started polishing my nails again, the peeling started all over again. Now I just try to keep them covered with polish. I guess it is what it is, LOL.

Interesting how you apply the sticky tabs! I always put them on my nails first, then remove the plastic and put the presson.
@PolishLabRat4 ай бұрын
Yeah the thing with that is that then I either have sticky nails while I prep for the rest, or long nails while I prep the rest. I rather deal with the sticky tabs with un-clawed nails first 😂

I struggle with finding the right size. The arch is always too flat or too curly so I can't wear pressons at all. Do u have any tips? 🙏 And thank you for this video, never heard of sticky tapes 👀

You have to find the brand that works for you, that’s the thing. It would take some looking into, and trying diff ones. At tjmaxx and Marshall’s they have a lot of diff presson brands for much cheaper prices, so it’s a good place to try diff brands. I couldn’t recommend a brand because idk how ur nails are or what brands u have already tried, but diff brands are shaped differently and I’m sure there is a brand out there for u! ❤️

Interesting. I keep fake nails on hand in case I have a bad break, but I do use them consistently on one of my big toes that lost 1/4 of the nail. Once I found the tabs I never went back to glue, but then my big toe isn't in water much! Also, Dollar Tree glue is apparently not top quality!!!!😹
@PolishLabRat4 ай бұрын
Hahaha makes sense. I need to research diff sticky tabs and find some that are easier to apply. These are finicky. They work fine once in the nail but removing the plastic behind them is somewhat annoying
@BrittMFH4 ай бұрын
@@PolishLabRat I agree. I sometimes go thru a couple tabs before it works on the nail!

I have never tried the press-on nails but I wonder how it would work if you paint a glitter nail polish to create texture instead of roughening the natural nail and then glue the press-on nail on top of that.
@PolishLabRat4 ай бұрын
It’s a good experiment haha I just dunno if glue on top of nail polish would cause the whole system to lift faster or not… def worth trying!

Hi, I wanted a professional opinion from you please 4 years ago, after I did my nails, 1 finger nail chipped, the nail broke from its bed and it hasn't recovered since I did tests and it wasn't fungus, the nail is burned from nail lamp and the unclean tools of the salon My nail bed is so bad, the nail does not grow healthy but separately...I've tried every oil, vitamins and antifungal creams/oils Nothing worked If you have a solution how to fix my nail and nail bed, can you tell me please?🫶🏻
@PolishLabRat4 ай бұрын
I don’t have a solution for this, this sounds like it needs a medical professional. The light from the gel lamp doesn’t burn your fingers, what feels like burning is the gel as it cures (which produces some heat, etc). But yeah, I’m not sure how to fix that from far away. Best of luck!
