Brief description of what you may see on main deck of Suezmax Tanker. After the work day I used to walk on main deck. When the weather permits of course:)

The amount of work to keep up with flag and class requirements and endless audits is just vast.....never mind everything else. More interesting than most desk jobs though. Thanks for posting.

Similar configuration to an old LST (Landing Ship, Tank) I served on back in the 1960s, but over three times the length and about three times the width. I remember being in awe of the first "Big" ship I ever saw being built in Sasebo back then, if I remember correctly, its gross tonnage was around 80,000, very impressive at the time. Best wishes, Captain.

Almost the same gross tonnage, my tanker is 81,300. Thank you very much for your comments, pleasure to read!

Enjoyed it as always, Skipper. How many crew members would a tanker like that one have onboard? I heard somewhere that a ship the size of the Emma Maersk is crewed by fewer than 20 men. Seems hard to believe.

Yes, its regular number of crew for modern ships. I never had more thank 25 crew members uncluding cadets. Usualy 22 - 23
