@@LzqxPC Shoutout to the shokz openrun. Ive been a fan of bone conduction for years now. My openruns got damaged recently though so I replaced them with the newer model that came out a few weeks ago and those were a fairly good improvement. The problem with NJB is that he is VERY biased thesedays. He bashes cars when it doesn't make sense to do so, and all his solutions are to minimise the use of cars as much as possible. As someone who cycled 66 kilometeres to work after about a year of using public transport to get to work, I can safely say that Public Transport is notthe end all be all NJB makes it out to be. 3:05 Regarding the 'sound seal technology' I watched the development video they put out for these. This 'sound seal technology' they speak of is using phase inversion to cancel out whatever you're playing. Basically they have a second, outward facing speaker on the earbuds that plays an inversion of whatever you're listening to so that the outward sound is deadened, at least in theory. This is the same process behind all active noise cancellation, but just used in the opposite direction in this case. On noise cancelling headphones, they will have a microhphone picking up outside noises, and the headphones will invert that noise and play it through the speakers, deadening the outside noise. If you want to know more about that process, search for 'wave interference', or specifically 'destructive wave interference'. This works for more than just sound waves as well, it is the case for any waveform. This video explains the process really well kzbin.info/www/bejne/j53PnZhjetZnm80si=1BvDTZ0k-8aNy2W9

I bought a pair of LinkBuds when they first came out and over a period of about one year they progressively sounded worse and worse due to the driver getting gunked up with ear wax. The LinkBuds don't have a fine enough mesh (if one at all, I haven't looked at them in a long time) to protect the driver from this type of wear. I also noticed that the left and right buds were degrading in audio quality at different rates.
@smokyz_2 ай бұрын
@@wizard4599 I don't think I have such ear wax problem as you do (I clean my ears and my earbuds), so I haven't had that problem. I had my first pair since around that time when LinkBuds got released. Lost 1 earbud and then after few months accidentally left the case with the earbud inside in the washer. Battery went to shit so I bought a second pair. Long story short, in a few months, I forgot these in a washer as well, but remembered after few mins, but it was already late - they were already wet. After drying they got fixed, but sometimes the earbuds battery starts going weird and charging only up to 70%. The case is fine though, its easy to open and dry it off. Additionally, their wireless connection is dogshit. They lose connection if you got a body part in between the phone and earbuds. Its enough to have your phone in a front pocket and squat down to get a choppy connection. Or if you go beynd 7m away from the phone with your earbuds. Anyways, I haven't found a proper replacement for these, as I hate having earbuds that block all of the sound. I have the shokz openfit (not air) and they sound great. Are they better than full over ear headphones? No, but they get you a lot of the way there. 2 year warranty on the shokz vs 1 year on nothing is also something to consider. I used to do the shokz bone conduction headphones since that was the only option that didn't go in or over my ear. They are great for what they were, but music quality was always meh (voice was amazingly clear though). The problem with the bone conduction ones are that the actual speaker mechanism kept coming unglued inside and while the warranty experience was nice, they didn't last more than 1-1.5 years meaning 2-3 years with the replacements in the 2 year warranty. I ended up getting all the shokz bone conduction options, the openfits, some in earbuds, and a few others to try them all out side by side with the intent of keeping the one i liked the most and shokz openfit were by far the best in sound quality. This was before the openfit air so not sure how those compare vs non-air.

What about Shokz bone conduction earphones? Feel like it fixes the issues you have and they don't sound terrible. A review would be cool.

I have these and they’re okay. I like them for long periods of listening like at work and chilling in the evening. The analysis of the low bass response is accurate. A few notches below max the bass falls off entirely which I thought was strange. So in loud environments it’s almost impossible to hear these. Like in a noisy break room or something. Overall I like them but I also have my Sony 1000 handy for proper listening.

is there a reason devices come with tiny cables these days? is it cuz of the cutcost for materials or something?

whats so crazy is in highschool 20 years ago I remember looking up on ebay to see if wireless headphones existed and they did. They had a special receiver that plugged into the headphones jack. came with batteries and cost $450.

I too get irritation from buds that seal in-ear. I'd be REALLY curious to see what you guys think of the TOZO O2 Open Ear buds... I did a ton of research and they kept coming up near the top. And they are HALF THE PRICE of these. I'd love to see your testing results and thoughts. My wife is a runner and likes them too since she can hear her surroundings. The bass always suffers just like these, but for the price ($70) it's hard to beat.

Are the eq settings stored on the buds? If paired to more than one device this would be useful

Sorry, as much i love you all at LMG (and here since the beginning)... these at NOT good earphones at all \\ 0:35 - Agree, they look the part 0:52 - Agree, the charger/storage is HUGE and not a soft plastic, so will crack the moment you drop them and you can NOT charge them and take the earphones out at the same time, as the stupid design means you have to remove the USB-C cable first or you will most likely snap 2:08 - They are 'ear-esistible' 2:25 - I can not firm this, as after 6 hours, i had enough of the awful sound 2:48 - You can NOT use these whilst cycling, because they are not 'in' your ears, causing a lot more airflow and because the earphone are so underpowered, with outside noise, you either can not hear them or you crank the volume SO high, the audio quality drops even more (worse than they already are). You would better off using noise cancelling earphones that have passive/passthrough audio, which helps a lot more whilst cycling, without compromising audio quality 2:59 - Typical marketing rubbish. All earphones (not headphones) will seal sound in to a certain degree, and no one nearby could really hear your voice calls, etc 4:29 - They are tiny hard buttons, so require a fair amount of pressure, not terrible though, but nothing special and not touch based, so not easy to use whilst cycling for example 4:48 to 5:29 - You obviously have never used OnePlus Buds (such as the Pro 2 or 3) with their excellent software, you can do all this, as well as ear canal balancing etc 6:02 - AAC and SBC only... so exactly like every cheap earphones out there and NO support for high-end audio such as LDAC or aptX HD 6:29 - 6:46 - Agree... for me (and my other half) changing the position, the audio quality went from bad sound to worse 8:28 - Agree... musically they sound BAD at all volumes 9:28 - Voice recording is passable, but at the price, they sound more like pairs that go for £30-£50 GBP 9:47 - Want mine? I was utterly swindled into buying them at £129. Nothing (UK so called support team) took five to get back to me, with a 2 day gap between each response and now want me to pay them £8 GBP to return them \\ For those wanting to try them, either go to Nothing's crappy store or buy them on Amazon and return with zero hassle and no fee's If you want to know what 'open' (not to be confused with open back) earphones sound like when actually good, try Valve's Index inbuilt earphone, sure they are huge and not portable, etc, but they sound what it should sound like \\ 'Nothing' customer service are painfully slower than anyone i have used in my recent years, terrible at communications and (currently) trying their best to not allow me to return my pair (avoiding in sending me a returns label after nearly two weeks of trying), whilst also charging me to return them, suggesting it is for logistics. I also asked a few days if i can just return them in-store, but days on, still no answer. It feels so disappointing knowing brands like this still exist and ruin the Android world Personally, after my on-going experience, i would buy NOTHiNG from... ...'Nothing' ...and would advise all to do the same "Get nothing from Nothing"
