I agree that these vids would be better if they were about vulgarization and not about just giving a tour of some piece of hardware. I am a camera person and i cringe a bit every time i see cameras and lenses reviewed by "tech" channels. (this guy knows his stuff, that's not the point) Cameras were around for 200 years before they became computers with sensors and the basics are unknown to most people, it'd be nice of the script included some education for everyone, even if you don't usually do that for pc parts because pc people might already know a little about how their PCs work, sorta.
@alex05894 жыл бұрын
>ND filter = like expensive sunglasses, blocks light without changing the colors or tint, you want that when you shoot in bright light but don't want to change your camera settings aka change the look. **built-in NDs** means they are small pieces of glass that can slip in front of the sensor and get darker, as the cameraperson desires.------------ >PL mount = mechanical way to attach most "cinema lenses" to cameras developed by the German company ARRI. consists of the metal back of the lens and the front of the camera. (Cameras like REDs have interchangeable lens mounts to change from cheaper "photo" lenses like canon EF mount to ARRI PL, for example.) Originally designed for film cine cams.--- >ISO = sensitivity of the sensor (called ASA for film). ISO 100 in a dark room? cant see anything. ISO 1600? better. Brightness depends on 2 additional settings, Shutter Speed and the IRIS in the lens. >"Dual ISO" means it's a good low-light camera, basically)--------- >V mount battery= A standard for the (way you mount) big ass batteries to cameras and other accessories. (you also see something called Gold Mount batteries on sets).--------- >ARRI Alexa= Remember that German company? They make cameras and lights and stuff and have been for 103 years. Their Digital camera is called Alexa. ------- There's been many different iterations of it in the last 10 years. It is widely used on sets all around the world. The Avengers (2012) was one of the big blockbusters that used it when the industry started switching from film to digital.--------- >Sony Venice= Sony's "CineAlta" top of line Cine camera. Sony has a long history of Digital cinema cameras going back to the star wars prequels.----------- >FULL FRAME= a sensor that is the same size as old 35mm PHOTO negatives. First digital full frame camera to have HD video features was the Canon 5D Mark2 in 2008. Historically, film or sensors used in cine cameras were a bit smaller. So, full frame= more light hitting a bigger sensor AKA better low light *also* capacity for shallower *depth of field* =backgrounds softly out of focus. --------------- Hope this can help.

I think it's because LTT has shifted over the years. This brings it back to a more simplified, quick, view. LTT's reviews are ludicrously in depth, whereas the KZbin normal is closer to this channel.

The coolest feature is the digital controlled N/D. This means that you can open your aperture while the camera automatically compensates with the n/d resulting in really cool unseen shots.

I see a lot of people complaining about the price. This is pro equipment. Even as I camera nerd, I admit this is expensive BUT these are cinema cameras NOT DSLR. Professionals buy this, not hobbiests or consumers
@MarioAtheonio4 жыл бұрын
Actually, *professionals RENT this, that's partly why it's so expensive to buy, the price is not that steep for rental houses who expect to rent these out hundreds of times.
@Fireflyepic4 жыл бұрын
I just love how they gouge professionals because they know they can get away with it. It's just how the world works I guess. Professionals don't have any other choice; image quality of good DSLRs is similar, but they lack just enough features to make them unusable. So you're stuck paying $90,000 instead of $3000. Not complaining though, if I was in the same position as Sony I would probably do the same thing. Gouge gouge gouge baby.
@hellNo1164 жыл бұрын
@@Fireflyepic i don't think the the difference is 90000 and 3000. and companies have to make profit on those things and not many ppl will buy them since they don't need them nor can they opperate them. and not only do they have to make profit they have to actually support the damn thing for years to come. you need to have a team of engineers actually fixxing bugs perfomances issues or even hardware bugs for years, since this is a tool and will be needing the attention of one. and not forget that those machines have most likely an assembly line just for them and many of custom machinery made for them. machines that it wouldn't be easy to adapt to other tasks. let alone that the product cycle on this things isn't as small as on consumer products so you cannot expect fast updates cycles to pay for this thing. the bill of materials on this thing must be stupendous. do they make a rediculous margin on this things ???? most deffinetely.... does it matter to the average consumer or someone who cannot afford this? probably not. at the end of the day whoever wants to play with intustry equipment can w8 a cycle or two to grab it on an ebay listing, most likely those should be like the expensive servers in the pc market.

@@hellNo116 I think you missed my point. My point is that they make ridiculous margins. That's fine though, i'm not saying they shouldn't. I would do the same thing if I was Sony. Also, i'm not sure what you mean by saying that the difference isn't $90,000 and $3,000 -- it most certainly is. Prosumer gear will be up to around $3,000, truly professional video gear like this can go as high as six figures. Real pros oftentimes can't use the prosumer gear, which is a shame. It's 90% there, but just missing a few key features. They price it this way because they can. Microsoft does the same thing. Microsoft forces businesses to do Windows Enterprise, and they charge $84 per user per year. In other words, you need to buy Windows again every single year. Businesses are fine paying this, your average joe might not be, though. They gouge the former, and give a free upgrade to Windows 10 for the latter. Sony, Microsoft, internet providers, etc. want to know if your are a business/professional or a regular consumer to decide how much they can gouge you. Yes, they offer certain benefits, but nothing to justify the cost difference. Whatever though, it doesn't affect most of us.

I'd love a full review, especially comparing low light performance on that full frame at native 2500 ISO vs a RED or even pro-sumer cinema gear like a A7s. Also, PLEASE do a review on the Canon R5 as soon as possible. It looks like an absolute game changer for any budget productions.
@floriang28014 жыл бұрын
I think the a7s (II) also has dual ISO of 100 and 2000. Most Sony cameras and other cameras with modern Sony sensors have this. Panasonic GH5S, Fuji X-T30 and Nikon Z6 have base ISO of 100 and 800. a7III, a7rII, a7rIII, a9, a9II have 100 and 640. D850, Z7, Z50, a6100, 6300, 6400, 6600 have 100 and 400. a7rIV and a6500 have 100 and 320.

@saadmalik92064 жыл бұрын
you're paying more for the support of those features. Paying that extra $ ensures everything will work all the time and given general production costs its not totally surprising.

The ole ibm goods as a service mentality
@vikmanphotography79844 жыл бұрын
This is a common practice, honestly. It requires a lot of extra work for brands to get specific recording formats to function so it's common to release a camera with all the basics and release more options later at an extra cost. For example, if you want to record S-LOG3 at 30fps, that's an entirely different instruction set compared to the same recording profile but at 90fps. You have to optimize each for the datarate limits of the sensor as well as for things like rolling shutter, syncing audio, how dynamic range is used across the profile, etc. It's a lot and considering the demand for each license is low, it makes sense to have the lower hardware cost.

@annekedebruyn77974 жыл бұрын
Which is funny since RED became so popular due to it being the more budget friendly camera across the entire spectrum. Hell, RED used to get a lot of shit for being a scam company before the RED One would be released with their pre orders because people didn't think a 4k camera could be made that cheap. Fast forward a decade later and we now got a 6k cinema/production camera from Blackmagic for under 2k USD.
