These cars use standard, inexpensive CCD cameras coupled with a 25mw 5.8 GHz NTSC/PAL video transmitter, a technology commonly used in FPV drones. My friend bought these FPV cars, and since I own FPV drones, I can confirm that all my video receivers (the goggles) - a budget-friendly Eachine model and an older Fatshark one - are compatible with the cars. The great news is that the FPV drone world is strongly shifting towards digital video technology. As a result, it's becoming easier to find high-quality, older analog goggles in the second-hand market at very attractive prices. Oh, and it's worth mentioning that these video transmitters and receivers are capable of covering surprisingly long distances. The range dramatically increases when there's a direct line of sight. Therefore, my best advice is to use them in large open areas where you have a high vantage point, such as a balcony overlooking a big garden or something similar.

I remember they used to sell little RC cars like this in drug stores 20 years ago, for about 20 bucks. No cameras or goggles, and the battery lasted 15 minutes max, but you could put the car and its controller (which doubled as a charging base) in your pocket

Finally, a way to truly experience that rug we all had as kids with the roundabout and streets. One step closer to a kit to convert a hot wheel into an rc. The best thing about FPV, and especially micro FPV is that wonderment of being small and the exploration at that size. It's a whole new experience, and something many of us have dreamed about since childhood. Once you move into micro FPV drones (such as a Tiny Whoop), you've got so much more freedom of movement and exploration that your experience is leveled up exponentially. I highly recommend - its so much fun and extremely addicting.

Bought two of them a while back. We use them with our FPV drone gear (DJI FPV goggles with an analog receiver + Radiomaster TX16s with a 4in1 transmitter). Can definitely recommend! You can buy them without the controller and goggles if you already have that.

I used one of the off road ones to diagnose a leak in my hot tub a few weeks ago (with the help of a headlamp for extra light) these things are so fun and capable and ive had mine for a little over half a year, going strong with consistent use. The axles are hair traps though, and that's my only gripe, but I do have mostly carpet in my house so that dosent help.

If you're really into this type of thing you can get standalone fpv cameras and a cheap (nicer) set of box goggles to stick on your existing RC vehicles. I myself have one mounted where the driver's seat would be inside the cab of my 1:24 rock crawler.

They have been out in the FPV community for over a year and they still have a decent track record. It's a toy but definitely a good gateway into FPV. You can use the goggles with a drone (also use better drone goggles for the car) and try a mini whoop and learn electronics and everything that comes with it. Great gift for a smart kid. Could end up starting a career.

It used to be, not that long ago, that if you wanted a car this size, with proportional control, it would have to be IR controlled. In general, they worked, but I hated the line of site limitation. Also, for general R/C, I am happy that we progressed beyond the MHz bands and crystals, and have reliable digitally controlled vehicles. I am also happy about streaming FPV cameras. A bundled headset, that doesn't need a phone? That's a pretty big feature. It's smaller than a BitCharg, but not quite as small as a ChoroQ. (from what I can tell)

There is no video latency. It’s straight analog broadcast. The only latency would come from the control link, which is extremely low and I could only imagine basically unnoticeable

I remember getting my nitro RC car back in like 2008/2009 - HPI RS3 Evo, thing ripped. I learnt a lot about how cars worked from that and really got me into the interest of engineering behind engines. I still have it! I cracked the engine though and it runs off of frequency crystals rather than 2.4Ghz hah! So I need to fix it up some day.
