Correction: At 2:03 it states a 2-4 is two sets of four beer. This would be woefully inadequate for a trip to the cabin. A 2-4 is actually 24 beers, so here a total of 48 beer were referenced. -AC

Brilliant video! I have the Mini Cooper SE level 2 since 2020. I have driven a lot of cars, expensive, cheap and overpriced. I do not live in the US or in Canada, but over here it was cheaper than the other EVs. It is by far the most fun car I have ever driven. The interior quality is astounding, mine still feels brand new. Range is fine, not great but I live in/near a city and don't need much. It charges in no time and it's cheap to run. It is perfect for me and my needs but I can see it being totally useless for the majority. However, as explained in this video, it is so freaking quick and extremely fun to drive. The way it tackles corners is insane.

50kW charger means that the charger output 50kW in an hour. So they did nothing wrong.
@RayIntegrator3 жыл бұрын
@@robbanpenger1341 Kilowatt is a measure of power. If you would take a measurement of how much power is flowing through the charging cable at any given time, you get back a measurement in kilowatts (kW). Kilowatthours are a measurement of sustained power over the duration of an hour. Say you are charging at 100 kW for 30 minutes, and charging at 200 kW for another 30 minutes straight after, the total sustained power over the course of the hour would amount to 150 kWh, because: (100 kW * (30/60)) + (200 kW * (30/60)) = 150 kWh. Another example, if you are charging for say 15 minutes at 100 kW, how much did you actually charge the car? Well: (100 kW * (15 / 60)) = 25 kWh. You can also take this the other way. If your car has a 100 kWh battery, how long would it take to charge the car from 0% to 100% at a 50 kW charger? Well: (100 kWh / 50 kW) = 2 hours. Or, for a more real world example: your car has a 60 kWh battery, and you're charging it at home with an 11 kW charger, so charging it would take (60 kWh / 11 kW) = approx. 5.4545 hours or (60 minutes * 5.4545) = 327.2727 minutes, or (60 minutes * 0.4545) = approx. 27 minutes plus 5 hours, or 5 hours and 27 minutes.

One of the best segment for ShortCircuit is when Alex does a car review.

We have one in US. In Green mode, in summer, it can make it to airport and back (even with AC on), that's 120 miles! Granted, I got back with 2% battery after leaving it in airport parking for 3 days, but it was, in fact, capable of more than the mileage rating. And yes, it's a lot of fun. I agree that the nav system is kind of bleh. The nav on our VW Touareg is a lot better (except for the fact that it's impossible to get a nav update!). It always seems to be too little zoom (can't see the small roads), or too much (can't see the overall pattern). We do most of our driving with the back seats down which adds a huge amount of cargo space capacity. If you're not going to use the back seats for people, you might as well just put them down and get enough cargo capacity for 1/4 sheets of plywood, right? Also agreed on the toggle controls. Very nice. I wish that they key fobs were distinctive enough to auto-select driver personality like on the Touareg, but they are not. You have to select the profile every time you start the car. I love the fact that I can charge it easily in the garage from standard 240V 20A outlet in about 8 hours or less.

OG TITLE: *I'm SHOCKED how much I like this - Mini EV*
@gooddypm3 жыл бұрын
Alex, I watch a few car reviewers on KZbin, Doug DeMuro and Shmee150 mainly, and as a tech guy, your reviews are up there with Doug’s. His is his full-time job. To give a good car review 10 minutes and cover the important thing is hard. Well done Alex.

"Less range anxiety compared to Taycan because it's more efficient" - nope, 32kWh/93miles = 350Wh/mile, nothing to brag about and pretty close to Taycan numbers.

I have a 2013 R56 Cooper S. It can go 500 miles on a 13 gallon tank. So this is what they’re up against with replacing ICE cars. My car has the dual visor on the driver side and it’s very useful. As a Mini driver I must say they are really fun cars, but I’m not going to rush out and buy this one.
@CyberPunkSimms3 жыл бұрын
If only Mini's were Mini on price, honestly, you pay stupid prices for such little value for a car. Granted not as bad as the Volkswagen Beetle. But still, not really interested in these.
@machinist72303 жыл бұрын
The dirty little secret that you never hear, is that Mini, as a car brand, is one of the worst in terms of Warranty claims - I think they came in dead last on the JD Powers warranty claims survey in 2017.
@CyberPunkSimms3 жыл бұрын
@@machinist7230 Jesus, another thing: I was at a BMW garage today looking at used BMW's and the mini garage was next door, £27,000 for a mini, it wasn't even a high end one, and it was used. I was looking at a BMW 420d Gran Couple M Sport, which was £21,000. Why the hell would one buy a mini over a BMW?!
@DozIT3 жыл бұрын
The ironic part is the MINI, and beetle especially (the peoples car) were originally designed to be the affordable, accessible car for the masses… that said a 2003 Supercharged Cooper S (6 speed) is the best car I’ve ever owned

I drive a Mini and wouldn’t buy another one. They’re not very good cars especially for the price.

I work in Car sales and when people trade in a mini we usually only get $5000 offers or less from our wholesalers. Minis have no resale value and they really don't last long either

Think of the side visor as an extensions for the front visor. Otherwise pivoting the front visor to the side window would rarely be useful.

Piano Black of any surface you touch: NO! Hell no! Even the PS3, a console you wouldn't touch a daily basis - became ugly as hell very quickly in it's originl piano black configuration. To have a glossy black finish can only ever work on something no one ever touches.

Maybe the Mirai, but I wouldn't bet on the EQS. I don't think it has entered production yet. Or fully revealed visually on the exterior. It's an S-Class though, so we know what to expect. With a monstrous 700km range.
