I have just attempted to cut my own hair following this video. And I am loving the result!!!! 😍 previously I had shoulder long hair that was flat with no layers and heavy at the bottom. Now I have pretty layers! Although the final result may not be 100% amazing like the video, but it's probably 80% and I'm satisfied with it 😍 I didn't get to trim properly the back part since my husband was scared that he would mess up my hair 🤣 so I just skip the trimming part and do the layer cutting. I have to admit it was daunting at first but after a few snippets I could see I was making good layers so I was more confident to do it. And I think this style is quite forgiving, it's not fatal even if you don't cut extremely neat, as long as it's still within the guides. I'm loving my hair now ❤️❤️❤️ thank youuuu Summer. Please continue to post more videos!

This is a good endorsement to give this a go. Thanks. Btw I keep my boyfriend as far away as possible from my hair w a pr of scissors. Once he positively ruined it as passive-aggressive act of unkindness as he had no intetest in helping me. He destroyed the entire back of my hair ad though he were literally blind with Tourettes Syndrome to “teach me” never to ask him again. I returned the “lesson” by leaving his as* and never looking back. Many tears I shed over that evil prank. Amazing what people are capable of, but I realize it reflects more upon me in choosing him than on him. 🥲🙋♀️

This is the cut that looks the best on me with my face shape. I love your technique. Every single time I get my hair done, I go home and have to cut uneven sections. This is exactly what happens to me. I even take pictures and ask for exactly what you did in this video. I end up leaving with chunky layers that flip out on the ends and it nearly makes me cry. It's the exact opposite of what I ask for every single time. I had my hair cut this way for YEARS, but now no one will do it because everyone is wanting the trendy blunt cuts with shaggy layers. It looks horrible on me, but I keep trying to get closer by being more specific every time with my terminology. If I want this exact cut, what particular words should I use? Thank you for this amazing video of a beautiful cut!!

Once you get your guides and perfect them! You will eventually not even need them! I know you probably panic on each time you have to cut a new line of hair! Learn your guides and your angles! If you can perfect that you’ll be a great cosmetologist! Also learn your lab your color mixing! One of the most important things to know! I went to school in the 70s already knew a lot from doing things on family that were BRAVE! School is very scary at times but pay attention to everything you can and you’ll have a great career! Good Luck☘️And continue to learn all the time! I had my own business! My daughter is licensed and does nails! Im retired! This kind of work is hard on your body that’s why my daughter decided to go into nails! My Granddaughter is in Make up! She’s Fabulous!

love this! this is what i told my new hairdresser I wantwhen i recover from surgery. I have seen more hairdressers in the last 5 yrs than I had in the 15 yrs before that - they keep quitting or they're in a rush & don't do that great etc. (We moved from our home state 11/2016 which is why i had to start all over) One girl messed up on cutting my hair which i didn't notice for 2-3 days because of the way it was styled & I didn't wash it for that long due to health reasons. I was so disappointed because my hair was finally growing & I needed a good 2 inches or so cut off! Wish you were one state further north. Thank you for posting this. Dang girl you are on point! I have long hair and NOONE but my one hairdresser knows this ! Everywhere i have tried over the yrs just dont get it ! They leave shelfie layers or razor( thin out) way to much amd causes my hair to frizz because they are actually CUTTING my hair when they do that. Wish i could get a good a haircut from u !

Hopefully you have better luck! I've never been a razor fan myself.

Watching your videos opens my eyes to what my stylist hasn't been doing. Or maybe she just can't do them comfortably and in that case i need to find a new stylist. With the different cutting techniques you've used in this video i know would give me the look i've been asking my stylist for. I keep getting told " oh you can't have those types of layers with an angled bob cut ". I'm very picky when it comes to my hair and i like my hair to look like it's meant to be so to speak. I don't like to see one side different than the other side. I don't like to see that mushroom look like you described in the back of your models hair. Wow i wish i could have you cut my hair! I know i would be 100% satisfied! The checking and rechecking i love! Doing the same exact thing to each side and everything looking like it belongs is what i love also! Thank you!

Often times salons put pressure on quantity versus quality, so timing is everything to salons. The stylist may want to refine thee cut, but the scheduling’s time window doesn’t allow for it.

My hair are super long, half way down my bum. I have not had a haircut in 11 years because I never get the haircut I ask for, plus, the stylists chopped the length off my hair every time. So now I stopped getting a haircut altogether. I would love a layerd haircut exactly like this. You respected the length the client desires and still gave a beautiful layered look with so much volune. The face framing was perfect.

I have had some really disappointing cuts in Australia. It’s disappointing that people aren’t taught probably. Thank you for your great tutorial. Hopefully hairdressers are learning to improve their cutting skills

This is exactly the hair cut I need for my fine lifeless hair. I love the textured movement in my hair, but want to keep my shoulder length hair. Where are you located? I need you to fix my hair. Thank you!

As a licensed cosmetologist, I love seeing someone trying to teach people how to cut hair, that actually knows what they are doing. Anyone wanting to learn watch this lady, she knows what she’s talking about and gives great step by step, instructions. If you are trying to cut your own hair, I just want to add…don’t!!! It is 99% impossible to get the same cut on both sides of your hair, due to angle you have hold the hair as you cut it. Also, hair dressers hate it when, a person cuts their own hair and then comes in a says ‘can you fix it”? This happens more then you an imagine and since your going to need helping fixing whatever is left, why not just pay to get it done right the first time? Thank you Summer, for taking the time to teach proper procedures. Your one of the best, I have watched on line!

I followed the principles of this cut my self. My daughter helped me with the back. The best cut I've had in a long time. I spend 180 at my salon but the cuts didn't flatter my face shape. My husband even complimented me. I have medium to short length hair and styled it with beach waves.
