synopsis
Yohan, a devout Christian, feels a desire against the Christian doctrine towards Juwon, a newcomer at the church. He prays eagerly to try to deny the desire but cannot stop looking at him.

This film was beautifully shot and acted, and was heartbreaking on several levels. However, it exposed only the very tip of the iceberg when it comes to the conflict between most religions and homosexuality. Its complexity can easily be lost by seeing the characters as merely right or wrong, or attributing cliche characteristics to the players, religious institutions or LQBTQ+ community. It was also very much about loneliness and how vulnerable we become when we feel alone. I don’t see it as a love story because Juwon didn’t appear to be an innocent. He did, after all, passionately kiss the young girl as well. He also manipulated the situation with the conflicted Yohan by coming to his house unannounced and taking advantage of his profound loneliness. I wondered for a moment if he felt sorry for Yohan when he caressed his face and said “it must have been lonely”. But considering his other behaviors, I think it was just his game. Yohan on the other hand was a heartbreaking soul. He lost both parents and was alone in the world. Although he held the prayer meeting in his home, he still appeared to be a loner. His expression of pure emotional starvation when Juwon first touched his face absolutely broke my heart. It was clear that the encounter they shared meant more to Yohan than it did to Juwon. He seemed almost desperate when he was searching for Juwon in church the next day. There was nothing that led me to believe that Juwon did not return due to shame. He did, after all, believe that admitting sin was all that had to be done to be forgiven (or did he just want Yohan to believe that?). I saw the handsome Juwon as an opportunist. All that being said, I thought this was a very interesting production and important theme that would do well to be covered in a series, or at the very least a full movie. the actor who portrayed Yohan was phenomenal, and touched me to the core. There is a lot to think about in this little film. It’s worth watching again.

What an absolutely beautifully expressed sentiment. I rarely, if ever, read comments before watching similarly structured indie films, which are much like essays or poems. "There was nothing that led me to believe that Juwon did not return due to shame." - the way you interpret it, I start wondering if Juwon even was a Christian. Seems like he attended Christian meeting, because he expected to prey on "emotionally starved" and lonely people.

story shows also the core of the sin and being seduced into it because of lonelyness. The other guy thought he was challenging a God by reducing the bible on parts that worked for him. For example when he concluded that it's enough to only admit the sin and God will forgive you. It is not that simple though. Admitting the sin is only first step. You have to admit it, confess it, puryfy your soul and never sin again. Yohan was tragical victim of careless sinner that seduced him into a sin. We can also see in this very deep short movie how are peopke trying to manipulate eternal Law of God for their personal benefits, which the other guy did. Divine law is unchangeable, the Church is only its guardian and someone that guides people toward it. It has no power and no authority to change a Law that God gave to Abraham in form of 10 commandments and in form of Jesus's teachings captured in the Bible. No human can ask or demand for this Divine law to be changed. And if we move from this point to more general situation and discussions opened in recent processes of sinodality, where voices within Church - German catholic church practically ousted itself from Roman catholic church because of these questions - then the question is, should humans change the laws of God into something the opposite of what is God's will, just to satisfy our selfish need to feel like we aren't sinners anymore? So that we can pretend that sin is not a sin? This question tackles not only lgbt community, but also women commiting abortuses, people that went through divorce, priests having sexual encounters, pedofils. Logical answer is: no. Don't expect from Church to turn its back on the Divine laws just to satisfy our selfish needs to get it away with sins, because that is easier for us. What pope Francis does is spitting on God's will to fulfill egoistic expectations of sinners that will NEVER abandon their sins and don't plan to do so. This is why pope Francis no longer represents me as a Catholic. He himself, like Yohan here, was seduced by a sin. Saying this, I am also a sinner (not homosexual though) and I know I have to pay my price for it, and I will. Blaming God for our own sins is ugly, egoistic, and sin by itself. He gave us free will and free choices. There is nobody else to blame but ourselves, and it is entirely our decision will we, or not, take that decision: to stay sinners or accept God's mercy and eternal light. This short movie gives us a lot to think about, and I'm really curious who the director is, and what is his/her personal story. P.S. Nobody forces a sinner to be part of holy Roman catholic church, if sinner identifies himself with sin and doesn't want to give up upon the sin. God gave us choice: you decide either for God and his eternal kingdom, salvation and immortality of your soul, or you don't God doesn't exclude anyone, sinners can still live as they wish. However, they can't enter his kingdom. Someone that insists in sin eo ipso can't be a believer. His faith is fake. You believe 100 %, or you don't. Your choice. But why does fake believer so much want to be part of His kingdom? I don't get it. Nobody forces him into that. What is behind must be fear of God's final judgement. And it is good to have a backup in that case, just in case. Hypocrisy and lie par excellence. Let homosexuals live their life freely and in dignity, me as Catholic never opposed that. But you can't be at the same time a gay and member of club in which homosexuality is one of mortal sins. It just is as it is. No hate. Just reality of Divine 10 commandments acceptance of which, 100 & acceptance for good, constitutes one person as a Christian. Homosexuals are not the only people that have a problem here: people that went through divorce or women that committed abortus, or a murderer or someone madtrubating has EXACTLY same problem. And nobody does drama about it, only homosexuals see it as injustice toward them. Why? Everybody is in exactly same position as sinner. Me, homosexual, whoever who breached and is breaching Jezus's teachings. That is simple fact.

Both actors conveyed different emotions as they were so different from each other, which made the dynamic totally worth watching for a full length series with this plot that could be explored. Great casting 👏 I loved this part 8:57 the temptation was before his eyes, it was right there for him to be weak 9:10 so he prayed for God to give him strength and take the temptation away as he didn’t want to be a sinner 9:16 he also said his prayer out loud as if he wanted Juwon to hear he didn’t want to be disobedient. But then what was tempting him was gone 9:45 but we are just human beings, we are curious 9:49 and we are not strong enough, we go after what we know is wrong 10:28 and we desire, we want things, so Yohan could be praying nonstop, but he wanted this 10:53 11:57 he definitely wanted more 17:10 and Juwon was aware of it, so he played his part, seducing him 17:54 he knew what he should say and invited him to sin, it was free will 18:05 then he let him finally have a taste. Yohan succumbed to his deepest desires that weren’t anymore deep and even if he tried to resist, gave in to his palpable desire 18:23 (the sounds 18:42 the holding 18:50) and the temptation (Juwon) did his job, so he was gone and Yohan was left with the sin he committed, with his disobedience. And this 19:47 feels like it could be a repeat. Others will come and go, Yohan will stay there struggling to accept his identity and turning to religion to suppress his desires 😞

Woahhh it's Oh DongJun from Discipline and Discipline Z, and Han Hyunjun from Love Class!! Both gave powerful performances, and their chemistry was intense. DongJun has such charisma and holds such tragedy in his performance. Would love to see him in something with a happy ending one day, the man seems doomed to play characters that are left behind. HyunJun playing a character who tempts half the church group into sin and then disappears is frankly fully believable but also I hope his character's story is not as tragic as it could be (i.e. that he left the group for other reasons than shame). Congratulations to everyone involved, this short film left a real impact!

This is so sad. I kinda feel like he was only taken advantage of, his vulnerability. He couldn’ve not done it, but the guy saw the opportunity and pushed him to get into temptation, and for the sake of what? Just for fun? Just to out someone? This happens irl, and it’s really sad. Like if you don’t have any intention of loving that person, or at least any interests to prove what he was feeling is not wrong - don’t come to his life and make him feel smth and leave. This is just my perspective, about the story and not directly to the actors. 😅

In the first one he plays a kind of innocent, shy and almost fearful character, in the next he portrayed a confident and open but inexperienced character, and in this one he portrays a manipulative and seductive character. I love this short film! Especially the cinematography and story line; I did not even notice how slowly the main character’s dress and demeanor changes with his newfound revelation in his sexuality. Let alone, the increasing desperation in his prayer compared to his previously calmer facade. The use of the bloody finger (prick of sun) to the Adam and God image for faith and temptations to the lighting were all well placed to showcase how much his life will no longer be the same. I loved this and really hope for more of story in the future.

"Yohan, is everything fine these days? It's just that... you appeared in my dream and it was a horrible dream. I kept thinking about it. You were being eaten by a giant snake". Juwon's figure is of a snake's subject and image - the way he observes Yohan seeking the weaknesses and the ways to make Yohan commit to such : by small gestures like looks, sitting next to him, coming to his house, commenting on the girl's story about her lesbian previous classmate, the kiss with the girl, the t-shirt and glass of water scene (notice his grin when he sees Yohan taken aback by the fact of being caught sniffing the t-shirt). Finally, he touches Yohan's face with his hand.. alluring as it is. Then pushes into his grip. And if you notice, /in the hands of the evil/ Yohan was the first to move for a kiss. The snake always does its best to make a human turn from thought uncertainties into acting upon them. It challenges, showing the potential pleasures of /the sin/ and allowing to catch a glimpse of them , yet leaves you the moment you commit to the sin through action. And thus gratification dies out as well. And hence, the figure of Juwon is secondary, it comes and goes, being a part of Yohan's hard way, which is of the main focus. Then the scene the next day : Yohan searches for Juwon in the church. At this point, kind of out of control - he doesn't immediately return to the Bible scripts and pray, he doesn't push himself into it in the first place as he did previously on. Which means he doesn't catch up with his sinful thoughts and deeds while being fully taken by the unrest and excitement /the snake/ brought him into. But even though he seems a bit clueless, God is aware : Yohan wears black t-shirt this very day (who knows whether consciously or not), as if admitting that /the crime/ was committed - black(dark of ignorance and gloom) opposing white colour he'd worn before(light, light of God=>salvation). But this state also ends and Yohan is alone again. Already with enough internal space to reprocess what's been done. The moment of the desired and the aftermath of another devastation and long-term frustration. At the end he, on the one hand, asks God to give him faith. To be able to fully dive into the God, into connection with him, into his teaching and reach peace living according to the Bible truths. However, on the other hand, his last words are "deliver my soul". I suppose it can be interpreted as of a prior - like a plead to strengthen his faith because in the right form it's supposed to bring rejoice. Yet I guess, on the other hand, at this point he no longer has much faith in himself, exactly in his ability to no longer stay away from /the sin/ and to cure, resist and control unlikable inclinations. He asks The Father to save his soul when the time for him to enter The Heaven or Hell comes.

I am a Christian clergyman and I am gay. I spent many years hating myself because I thought my feelings were unnatural, but I came to understand that being gay is not a sin. Too many people take the Bible literally without regard for issues dealing with translating ancient languages or understanding ancient cultural contexts. The suffering this young man endures, his own self hatred, speaks to my own journey. If anyone os gay and feels they are in sin, please look for scholarly studies on the topic of homosexuality in the Bible - not the homophobic propaganda espoused by too many Christians, especially Evangelicals and Catholics. If you are gay, you are still a child of God, and you do not have to live with self hatred or loneliness.

This short film reminded me of my adolescence. My first kiss was also with a "little brother" from the church choir. Some time later he married a girl also from the church. I moved on with my life and left the church. One of these days I saw him on the street, he didn't even recognize me. Now, he is a bald, pot-bellied man. Life is sad.

that was.. truly impactful. would love to see more, but to be honest original sin stands on its own and i think that's amazing for something so short and with not much dialogue. the emotions were so raw and authentic, dongjun really portrayed the religious shame in a way that resonated and i respect that so much

I met someone who felt he was "wrong" and tried to christian it away. Being that there was nothing wrong with him - it didn't work. He finally accepted himself and became a freer human being. Lost track of him just after that awakening. Hope he is doing well. Organized religion has done more harm than good since man took control of people's spiritual health.

The end had me sobbing. However this was a beautiful plot and cinematography. As everyone else we'd love to get a series or a full movie of this. The actors did a wondeful job as well! If there will be a series or full movie in the future we'd love to get closer to the story and see more, because this was a work of art. Also the fact that it managed to share so much by this little time is extraordinairy. Keep up with films like these

Simplesmente encantando.

Enjoyed this short film so much, I recognize Hyunjun from Please tell me so!! Glad to know he is still into short films because its a treat to watch him. On the other hand I genuinely enjoyed Yohan's subtle but extremely expressive expressions, the eyes and his body language talks about the character and how it is. I am pleasantly surprised by the music, cinematography and everything that came into work during the production. The cinematography, the acting the chemistry between 2actors is so good, that's y I just really want to understand the moral of the story, what the story wants to portrait..in the story it shows in the prayer group there was a girl who sees vision like yohan was getting eaten by a snake..ok in the story I think juwon was represented as that snake who lured yohan to the temptation..yohan was lonely all alone ..yohan feeling himself committing a sin as he realize he is gay and he got attracted towards a guy almost like love at 1st site type,so taking the advantage of it juwon used him..and at last it shows yohan was praying god for committing a sin..what's the moral of the story is being gay is a sin or love at 1st site is a sin or getting attracted is a sin..does at last god says that dont get attracted towards other guys they are the temptations only like the snake who will eat you alive and you can't even get out from that, you should only believe in god and what it preaches...what does this story implies? I am not Christian and I have never read bible and don't know anything about it..I just want to understand it..if I hurt anyone I am sorry 😔

And so the dream is fulfilled: Yohan has been "devoured" by a huge snake and finally turned into a "sinner". What a great performance by the actor who plays Yohan, his internal struggle to remain faithful to God and his designs against his carnal desires is palpable, I must admit that I felt my heart squeezed in more than one moment, but even more when I noticed his disappointment when he realized that Christian was no longer... I think this short film has more to offer 👌🏻

A 16 yr old girls rant about this and then turned into a vent so sorry about that: WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO ME. WHYYYYYY. I am not crying..although I am. Its a lot to take in for it being 22 minutes. It takes me back to the days when I was a closeted but openly "gay" ( I rather be unlabeled though.). It felt like I had to choose between God or my then girlfriend at the time. It felt very conflicting and at times I had thoughts of unaliving myself and I still do. One time I watch these short films for comfort and peace of mind. But I watch these and have a big whole in my heart. I cannot describe it that well. There is just a gap in my heart between me wanting to be with a man or wanting to be with woman or maybe someone in between idk. I know that I want someone and that I will never have that until I am of age, which is 18 years of age. I hope that everyone can find someone out there that loves them and treats them well. I will never find love for the next few years and that is just how its going to be. Maybe I won't ever find someone to love me. I just have too much on my plate. God help me not be lonely. I want a woman but if its a guy, just make him a tiny bit catering to my needs. maybe just a little. sorry i dont know what im talking about. trying not to cry while typing this. I just dont wanna be lonely and have that feeling wanting someone and them not feeling the same. I hate myself and wanna die ultimately. Someone has to care right? Right? Give me one human being. Just one. All I need is one.
