This Short promos another episode in a series featuring GMC Motorhome owners being interviewed.
#Summary: Tom Mest explains how he was recruited to be parts of General Motors' beta-testing of their soon-to-be-announced motorhome in 1972. He talks about his experience of working on the line in "Final Finish", the quality control department at the end of the assembly line where any problems with GMC Motorhomes coming off the line were addressed. He then explains how the motorhomes were actually assembled while also describing the interior architecture and structure of Plant #2 in Pontiac, Michigan.
#Background: Built by General Motors using automobile assembly techniques, 12,921 GMC motorhomes were produced from model years 1973 to 1978. Over 7,000 are currently listed at the GMCMI.com international registry. Estimates suggest that at least 8,000 to 9,000 of the original production run are still in operating condition.
