All this mass of information will be included in the oddities & unknown signals section of the web page, so as to offer the reader a more complete product. Along with the information, you will also have access to complete recordings of every single signal present in the various video volumes. @smcdonald9991 Hi, thank you for wanting to contribute ;) I didn't include those stations because, both in the VOL. 1 and in 2, I have inserted exclusively "new" (so to speak) signals and transmissions, or in any case little known and unidentified ones. The stations you have reported are among the best known, most analyzed and easily found among those present on KZbin and on the web in general. Furthermore, the signal and emission country have already been identified. If you have any unknown/unidentified signals or transmissions or rare oddities, I am more than happy to consider them.

@@smcdonald9991 good list of the modern classic stations! Sadly, the Russian Woodpecker was already off the air when I got my first shortwave radio in 1992, and I would have able to snag it where I grew up (Southern CA). Nothing too sexy to report on it either, just a Soviet OTH radar that splattered all over the shortwave band and pretty much pissing off a huge chunk of the world. The Soviets even drowned out their own broadcasting lol.

0:50 was from a promotion for the new black ops game. The company bought some time to broadcast this via WRMI. I have a recording of this too.

I like the "dark ambient" sound of these recordings. The trumpet oddity part sounds like it could be a track on an early Black Lung album.

I think most number stations were only there to confuse the other country's espionage services, to make their espionage more expensive, many people have to listen in on these frequencies every day. The real use of number could have been information about the waterheights in some remote canals or rivers.

8:45 could of been simple telemetry from a weather balloon’s altitude. The tones could been wind speed

The tones sound exactly like what you'd hear in a glider, indicating your vertical speed.

At 6:20 The DTMF tones spell out 0000-1111-2222-3333 repeatedly. Perhaps a marker?

Yes, I would say you might be right. It would be unusual as a signal used, but I think it is one of the most probable hypotheses.

There's no mystery about what's the signal heard at 01:28, it was a fake Russian-themed number station broadcast over WRMI's frequencies programmed by the Call of Duty developers in order to promote the most recent Call of Duty launch. The reason behind being broadcast over WRMI (from Miami) is because WRMI is a commercial radio station, you can buy airtime on it, so that's why this fake number station was being broadcast there.

On the second one I heard Okeechobee, Florida, which I believe is WRMI, Radio Miami International, on shortwave. 😊

Hi Great video, really enjoyed it. Lots of possible jamming signals or frequency holding signals. Just for note the unknown 3690KHz is CW & reads … ?8 PRT QRV ?8 PRT is a call sign QRV is Q code for ‘Are you ready’ You can hear the faint reply so I guess it’s 2 CW hams having a QSO Hope this helps 73’s

10:30 NATO letters 110% a pirate. The frequency choice is a very popular frequency for pirates to transmit on.

Yes, I have read some information regarding the frequency on which it was broadcast. I avoided writing it because I prefer not to include too precise information, since it is always a matter of hypotheses. That said, thank you for the comments you are leaving. i have a hunch the multi tone ones are probably some way of sending data digitally, and the nato letters are for training, idk if it's for regular grunts, commanders or for some reason spies in training

If you mean that the collections of signals and oddities I have made could make up a new volume of the Conet Project, even an unofficial one, I would feel flattered. For me it would be, first of all, an honor, given that that collection was made by the pioneers and masters of listening to numbers stations, and more generally, of everything strange / bizarre and unidentified that can be heard on shortwave . Secondly, a signal that the work I have done so far is considered by users to be correct, with respect and passion.

Letters oddity 2 is a pirate mocking a transmission from the USAF’s HFGCS system.

hello at 5.14 mn , the signal on 3690 khz is a morse code transmission between 2 amator radio ( this frequency is on amator radio bandwith ( ocwje de 8rjez )

Very interesting. The signals around 460 MHz, can you try to use a beam antenna for direction finding? it could also come from satellites.

Artifact #2 invokes Okeechobee Florida, though most of the announcement would seem to be in a foreign language.

the nato letters are quite common i think they originate from Edwards air force base and they usually have a weird callsign like popsicle i normally hear them on 11.175 and the polytones sound like the Japanese slot machine

462.611 is usa FRS channel 3. one doesnt need a licence to use it. ur very likely hearing a child holding their walkie talkie to their game thing. that or a person is flying a glider with their walkie talkie transmitting

the 3690KHz signal is just a HAM doing Morse code while tuning up and down a little with the big scroll knob all good Tx capable HAM radios have.

I also caught a similar one to the altitude reading at 8:10 of your video back in 2019. The AMA were having a model airplane show a few miles from my house at the time so I’m guessing that’s where it came from because I caught it several times that day and after the show was over, I never heard it again until the next year when they had the show again. I ended up driving out to where the show was and they were also flying model helicopters & drones so I’m guessing that’s where the recordings were coming from

You should have included the dates for the examples. Not including the dates makes people think these are recent happenings; when in the fact the majority of shortwave's oddities and interesting things happened in previous eras. It's not common these days. These days the only real "oddities" are the ones everyone knows about and have existed for a while, or propaganda pirate stations involved with the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Yes, you're right, I did it wrong. If you look at the other videos, they're not even in wild screen. I've just started and I admit I'm still learning. Having said that, almost all of these recordings are no older than 2019. And I'll tell you that there are still some oddities and "unknown" signals. You have to spend hours listening, that's all. I will include them in the next videos.

Yes, let's say that they normally use English numbers, especially in the field of Numbers Stations. More than anything, I had never heard a station like this: both for the format in which the numbers are read and for the introduction melody. It is not listed among the active stations of the ENIGMA group

It could actually be a station that sends encrypted messages, a pirate station that enjoys emulating one, a station whose aim is to attract Jamming attempts. There are many hypotheses, but none are certain!

Oh hey another video. Just watched it and I have something about say about those signals, although I know almost nothing about shortwave. "Russian Numbers Oddity", I don't think the language spoken in the background is Russian. I honestly don't know what it could be, but probably Czech, Slovak or some other Slavic language. "Unknown Digi Mode 50" reminds me of the sound that older modems used to emit when they're connecting to something, but I don't think that's it because they produce the sound through the speakers. Still pretty interesting. "Undetified Tele Tones" is probably a channel marker or some random jammer because it just repeats "1 1 1 1 2 2 2 2 3 3 3 3 4 4 4 4" in DTMF tones. "Ground Height Signal" could be a weather balloon that sends data in some exotic manner but sends the altitude in a synthesized voice. Thanks for the video, was pretty entertaining to watch it!

Russian numbers oddity - doesn't sound russian to me, more of a balkanian language. Altitude - sounds exactly like thermo or vario meter of a sailplane.

Hi, yes you are right about the language used: it is not Russian. Honestly, lacking any information regarding that broadcast, I honestly thought it was Russian. Instead, speaking of Altitude, someone has hypothesized that it could be a weather balloon, or some altimeter connected to a drone, or another flying model.
