You know what I like about Kyo? He's this MC who has a special bloodbline but gives no shit abt it unless his family is threatened, leads a normal life, with a love towards his motorcycle and his girlfriend & friends. Thats all nothing too edgy and complicated which makes him unique among fighting games MC's. He is a relatable character

The best part about Kyo, in my opinion, is that he’s a borderline OP character, and I meant that both character-wise and gameplay-wise. He’s not perfect as a fighter, but even so, no one is. Not even the likes of Rugal, M. Bison or Shao Kahn are. Firstly, there’s his conversation with Akuma in SvC, where he considers Kyo to be someone of his equal as respectable fighters. It’s technically not canon, but it’s fun nonetheless to acknowledge it. Then, in multiple conversations with other fighters in KoF XIII, he never hesitates to show off his talent and skills while keeping it well between the thin line of arrogance and pure confidence. Heck, this is the same man who, along with a rich lightning-using playboy and a gold medal Judo international champion, won a total of 5 different tournaments in the KoF timeline, so why not get a little cocky? And one more thing worth mentioning is his fighting style. Most fighter characters simply stick to the style they trained under and tried to perfect it while learning more along the way, while Kyo is always changing and mixing his own up with his own creativity and intuitiveness. In other words, if compared to something like reading a book, Kyo is like an author, learning as he reads while writing more along the way. (kinda ironic tho that he sucks at poetry, lol) Needless to say, he’s badass but not edgy, wicked but not insane, and confident but not overly arrogant.

Well, despite the story behind KOF, at the end KOF is more like a spin-off, a big crossover of SNK characters where Kyo, Iori and K are the main protagonist, some times we just forget that Terry and Ryo are tha mains protagonist of their own games, Terry can't have main protagonism in KOF, other wise it would be Fatal Fury, the same with Ryo, he can't be protagonist in KOF it would be Art of Fighting. This just remember me we need more iterations of Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting.

Real quick, the Yagami was originally called the Yasakani before binding a contract with the Orochi and became the Yagami. It honestly sucked that Kusanagi wasn't a NESTS project, honestly, his personality seemed perfect as a Kyo clone. One of Kusanagi's super move from 2002 UM came from KOF 99 EVOLUTION from Syo Kirishima.

My first exposure to Kyo and KOF in general were the arcade 2002 cabinets that were lying around my country. Ironically, the first characters I saw and remember wasn't him but Iori and Flame!Chris. I spent years wondering how to unlock the latter's flame mode when I saw the different stances while being unaware of Kyo as the main hero for many years. My cousin and I would just main Kyo and Iori by sheer coincidence, unaware that they are the main protagonists.

Nah he didn't forget, it was voluntary. Shoryugame mentioned in former videos that he usually doesn't include non canon versions of KOF in these character STORY description vids. That's why kof 98 2002 negeowave maximum impact neogeo pocket vers or CVS etc being non canon, aren't mentioned there. I do think indeed, that these "filler sagas" are just confusing extra content that are uneeded for an explanation of the main plot. I mean who cares about the Naruto fillers when u make a description of Sasuke's story.

I used to think like that about Iori, in the 90s. But ever since Kyo started to mature a lot from 1999 to today, & get better outfits (which Iori's seems now overdesigned to me in comparison), I like him more than Iori, & I still stand by my statement. Kyo has to deal with Ash, with the Orochi, the NESTS & the remaining of their NESTS, with Alba, with Terry, with K' & Nameless. Iori is only into Kyo, that's all there is to it about him, he's a lost cause.

Bro, Rugal didn't survived kof 94 due to this orochi powers. He was given the orochi power by Goenitz just for Goentiz amusement. Kyo is actually designed to be the opposite of Ryu (of SF). While Ryu keeps saying he has to train to get stronger (in every freaking ending), Kyo is cocky and already mastered his fighting style. He used a variation of his Kusanagi style in every saga. He also sports a cool attire in each one.

Started in 94 with limited moves and high school outfit. More move was added in 95. From an all-rounder character to rushdown character in 96. New super/DM in 97. 98 is dream match. Changed his outfit in 99 and discarded some of his moves. Changed some of his 99 moves in 2000. New super/DM in 2001. 2002 is dream match. Changed his outfit in 2003 and a little bit adjusted moveset.(His 182 Shiki and Mushiki returned) Changed his moveset in XI. Changed his moveset in XIII(and XII by extension). Very Good Video. My only suggestions would be, mainly for a potential future remake post Verse Arc, to briefly mention the KOF EX Games, which take place in an alternate continuity where instead of NESTS, it was Moe Habana whom found Kyo and helped him recover before the next KOF Tournament, and then there’s how in the NESTS Saga his girlfriend Yuki had almost been kidnapped by NESTS agents only to be saved by Daimon and Iori, the latter whom calls him out on this afterwards.

ermmmm~ i read canon comics of kof 2001 to 2003 by Wing Yan/ King Tung, turned out Nests Kyo is also a clone, a perfect clone alongside Kyo 3 the only difference only Nests Kyo believed that he is the genuine one.. on which explained why he cannot summon the full power of Kusanagi combat that changed his battle skill and ended up resorting to forbidden moves as we can see in 2001's SDM (looked eerily similar to Iori's SDM but in reverse).. corrupted by evil martial skill, he 'regained' power at the expense of his morality, in which at the time he already realized he is a clone too.. Chizuru (controlled by Botan) made a deal with him where he can keep his power by being her bodyguard and changed his name to just simply 'Kusanagi'.. the real Kyo only revived in 2003 but lost his agility too, hence his SDM Mushiki in 2003 official game not as fast as the previous installment..

@@simonsiddique here in Malaysia we got Malay translated versions of Hong Kong comics but sadly vanished completely somewhere 2005 due to the rise of internet piracy.. and those comics were not cheap either..

I feel like with smash, tekken 7, fighting ex layer terry gets more and more recogniton (or the fatal fury crew, lets say) however Kyo deserves some recognition too. It feels as if even Iori gets more recognition by other games than him, Imagine how great would it be to see him in a game like tekken 8
