This is the same girl that led sold out shows on a regular basis with her voice when she was a virtual nobody. She was carving herself out a lane to be a legend until Tyler's death. This is such a powerful song that it can overwhelm the singer and take both the performer and the audience places. This version, in contrast, I feel that the singer is in perfect control of how she tells the story, even as she belts it out towards the end. I loved how she was holding back at the beginning, letting the dramatic tension build up, and build up, and how she made sure to have enough left to raise it up a notch at the right places in the end.

i recently watched the show on broadway, and i am so grateful i was able to see shoshana as jenna. in my opinion, her and jesse are my top jennas. shoshana at least broke down twice in this song, which i am so blessed to have witness. to witness an actor to be vulnerable while performing their art, and really let go, is truly amazing. the pain in her voice and the struggle to finish the song hit me. it was amazing bc she was choking up in words, and then suddenly pulls out a magnificent belt to end the song. i just can’t help but point out the times she has broken down during the emotional parts of the show (which is AMAZING) bc it shows how devoted she is to the character, and how much of a beautiful artist she is. she really engages the audience, and really connects with us. #iloveshoshana4ever💜
