I can see the reluctance for the 5s. Not enough damage to keep people off you, but considering you weren't engaged much the first game still respectable damage. Nice to see different load outs get played.

Thank you so much for this vid, tried it out and genuenly love the feel of LBX's now, after doing a UAC build and being unlucky with constant jams, this feels so much more reliable. This build made me stick to the game again, as I frequently play for a few days and quit, and now I'm sticking to it longer than usual.

Not sure if you have ever ran this build. We ran it on our comp team. It's a pure long range build but it's 4 Uac/2 and 2 large lasers. It sounds like an odd build but I'd love to see you run it, just for kicks. Especially since the B is the event give away mech right now! Love what you do! I never miss a daily dose video!

I've been seeing 4xAC2, 2xERPPC on it lately, and it is a solid meta alternate to the 2xUAC10 2xUAC5 build.

Use uac5s instead. Similar range w pinpoint damage. No spread factor. Double tap capable and better dps. Just a thought.

As everyone knows to focus the arms on the mkii. I put two armé mounted lb2's and four large pulse in the torsos. It's pretty nasty. Always gets kills.

My first MadCat build on that variant was 2 LB 10s and 2 LB 5s. I actually like the build with LBs but my favorite is the 2 UAC 10s and 2 LB 10s.

Going from UAC5s to LB10s is quite a bit of tonnage, how does your build look like? Engine 325 with just a single heat sink while the rest stays the same (UAC5 ammo replaced with LB10 ammo obviously)? And what playstyle does this build use, similar to UAC5+10, just shoot things at close/mid range until they die? I'm currently looking for alternative MCII-B builds (running the classic UAC5+10 atm) but I haven't found any info on this build even tho' Baradul seems to rate it on par with the UAC5+10. Edit: Just found TTB's video about that build, he gave up the jump jets to save some weight. I don't use the jump jets on the MCII that often but I still don't want to give them up :D

@@FLUX.2226 actually I've got a 345 XL with 3 double heat sinks on the engine. A little armor stripped off the legs but full armor otherwise. But I have to have ferro and endo. Only 7 to s of ammo but it's a wrecking ball glass cannon so it only needs 7.

@@FLUX.2226 if you are looking for a bit of a different build you could go with 4 UAC 5s. Having weapon groups of each arm and a third firing group of all of them chain fired is a very interesting build to uber RAC things to death plus because you're using lighter guns you can carry more ammo and a larger engine. Basically you can make almost anything work on this mech. The MadCat Bravo is a great variant of a good Mech.

@@darrenskjoelsvold I assume you're running without jump jets, AMS or other extras then? Just the guns + ammo (3 tons of LB and 4 tons of UAC?) and the engine with filled heat sink slots. Quad UAC5 sounds difficult to play due to the ghost heat, once they start jamming their cycle times are no longer synced.

@@FLUX.2226 correct, no JJs or AMS with the UAC + LB build. Also the armor orientation is up to you. Front loaded or with a good amount of back if you think your own team is going to shoot you. The UAC 5 build can have extras. Also I didn't say that it would not be a challenge but it can be a good build when used right.

i roll with the twin UAC 5 and LB-10s in mine ... its not near what you can pull off ... but it will put a hurt on a mech

What is the learning curve in this game for a total new player. Is it easier to play on or offline

There are a number of offline MechWarrior games, this is not one of them. The learning curve seems to vary dramatically. For some it's perfectly natural, for others it seems to be as challenging as playing chess while dancing on top of a speeding train. The playerbase is very roughly broken into tiers, you'll start in tier 5 with other new players and... less proficient players. The new player experience has been improved but it's a very long road to build a stable of viable mechs, not the least because of the 'skill' system.

I like UAC10s and 2 large pulse on this mech.... better than the UAC5/10 build.. I gree that the 5s are generally a weapon in search of some range/reason to use them

Yeah, never been a fan of AC/5s across most incarnations of Battletech as a general rule. Love me the AC/20 gimme the biggest boom you got, AC/10 makes sense, and AC/2 works for long range plinking. But the AC/5 always fell into a weird spot. There were better long range options and it didnt hit hard enough to justify bringing ammo that could pop my mech.

Your standard 2 UAC/10 2 UAC/5 dakkacat works about as well as you can imagine, but you can use the same variant to do something fun with Gauss Rifles and LPLs (not meta, but fun... although the current patch makes the GRs a bit rough). You also have the splatcat, which is the 2 variant with 2 LB20Xs and 4 SRM-6s (mix and match heatsinks, ammo, and Artemis to your leisure). That one works _really_ well in a brawl.

Are you good with Position? Because if not, you may have more fun with the blood asp because he has an ECM, so enemies don’t Fokus you :) and you can do the same builds as on the mad cat.

Needs a pinch less ammo and more heatsinks since MadCat II has really bad hitboxes and armor for 90 tonner. Both matches, you lost your weapons long before you came anywhere close to running low on LB-X ammo. Otherwise, looks great.
