We have been using the the ShotMarker at our local precision rifle matches. We use it as a tie breaker stage. 5 shots 30 seconds. Shooter starts standing and buzzer shooter drops prone and sends it. I have tried it at 460yds and 600yds. Its super cool. Everyone huddled around the tablet. When a killer group prints everyone cheers. Its fun.

I am a bit confused. Do I need to have my rifle dialed in so I am shooting bullseyes, then calibrate the Shotmaker to where my bullets are actually hitting? What if I have a new scope and am just somewhere on in the sight reference (on paper) and want to use Shotmaker to dial my rifle in? Never used one of these but want one. I shoot up to 1200 yeards with .338 Lapua. Should save me a lot of time and ammo. Just totally ignorant of the calibration procedure
@HunterParkNZ8 ай бұрын
If paper target is kept in the same place as when it was calibrated as center, you can use it to sight in your rifle. But yea you are right you need a sighted rifle to caliberate the shotmarker

Based upon other reviews and alternative systems. ShotMarker Pros: I needed long range ie: >300 yards. Visualization of bullet holes on target ShotMarker Cons: Time consuming set up and requires multiple backers for short and long range targets. I did not need velocity at target. Accuracy of bullet placement via TargetMarker was a source of error in other reviews. (Many possible reasons) Some competitors loose matches due to inaccurate placement. Requires taking pre-made target backers to hold sonic sensors. My Final Choice Longshot by Target Vision LONGSHOT LR-3 Long-Range Camera System w/ Bulletproof Warranty, Longshot Cons: $100 more No Velocity readings (LabRadar) Longshot Pros: Quick setup 2 mile line of sight range Actual video of target holes, manual marker placement/adjustment No pre-made target holders required

Gavin, I noticed you mentioned that you may make a target for a mile shot. Its my understanding the projectile needs to be supersonic when it passes the sensors, this may limit the calibers you can use at that distance. I could be wrong on this, but I think I read it somewhere. All in all it looks like a great device beats a camera!

Why when calibrating did you move the shots to the middle of the target instead of where you actually hit the target?

Looks like an awesome bit of gear but my question would be does it need to 'hear' the impact of the round on the paper to produce a result and if so, if you are shooting a magic group and the later rounds dont touch the paper, would it consider this a miss?

Cool system but does it permit multiple targets on the same sheet? I also wonder what replacement sensors cost because they do not appear to be bulletproof.
@langora58045 жыл бұрын
Steve Rowe we run it at 20+ lanes here. You can switch targets and if you have multiple targets set up at different ranges you can just switch from say 100 to 600 in an instant. The sensors it NOT bulletproof, they are made to be inexpensive and quick to replace if ever needed. Not sure of the exact amount though. I hope that explains it. Have a great day sir.
@donaldroberts82425 жыл бұрын
The replacement sensors can be purchased separately for $40.00 or $50.00 with the color bracket, all 4 can be purchased for $150.00 or $185.00 with all four brackets...

Ok. This is just bad ass. High tech, but simple. Nice work. This is exactly what I've been wanting to do but had no idea somebody made a kit for it. Grt vid. Thx for posting. Question 1: What vid software do you use to show the target being shot while you're on the rifle (the picture in picture function)? Question 2: What scope cam do you use/recommend?
@donaldroberts82425 жыл бұрын
For Question 1, the software is already installed on your smartphone and any modern laptop or iPad type device. You first go to your settings and search for ShotMarker network in your WiFi settings. Once you find that and connect to it, go to your favorite web browser and type in 192.168.100.1 and you'll see the target system on your device.... HTH.
@donaldroberts82425 жыл бұрын
The other thing that is cool with this unit is that if you're on the firing line and wondering how your closest competitor is doing, you can pull up his or her target and see how they are doing on their last string. Every targeting system that is on the same Access Point, everyone has access to all the targets on the bottom of the screen....

25.4 EXACTLY So wouldn't say four shots as a box pattern be easier to move precisely to the actual poi, rather than all the shots right on top of one another??

Seems cool and all but what's wrong with a paper target and a spotting scope. Seems like it would be an expensive piece of equipment thats not really necessary. But if you have a lot money and don't like making trips to the target I guess it's a good idea.

Hard to see holes, particularly something as small as 223, even with a spotting scope at distance.

It can also eliminate the guessing game, when shots go through the same hole, or nearly the same hole, in a paper target; not uncommon, when shooting a precision rifle. F-class is 20 shots; it is almost certain that some or many holes will overlap, and the paper target will get blown out, making it harder to score accurately.

@langora58045 жыл бұрын
No problem if you bore-sight at 100 and then zero. Something has to be real off for a shot to be 30" or so wrong at 100yrds. Have a good day.
@dinoc.55375 жыл бұрын
Robin, Yes, you can use this for boresighting your rifles, but... I would always start it out on a gong plate or into a clear dirt berm to verify you won’t hit the frame or even one of the transducers. Once that is done, you switch to ShotMarker and you are off to the races. Another feature of ShotMarker not mentioned, is that in addition to showing lots of standard targets, you can always superimpose a grid of Mils or MOA. This makes exact boresighting very quick and easy in the example of a standard SR type target with round bullseyes. The ShotMarker system will make your days at the range much more productive since nobody has to pull pit service and your distance is unlimited. Good Luck and Good Shooting.

They cost $820.00 including shipping. Nice thing is you can shoot out to 2 miles with this thing and not need a spotter (once you get on target) as this will give you feedback right away. We use them at our 600 yard range for all NRA matches. I used 4 2x4x4's, 4 angle brackets, and a sheet of corrugated plastic to hold my target and I can shoot any day I want without a pit person...

Do you think there is that 1mm dispersion is because your target is behind the frame? Where it passes through the sensors is different than where it actually hits your target maybe place the target exactly with the acoustic sensors? Also, any chance we can get something different than an xring in the Future? No one uses MOA 😂😂😂
