Shots Fired During A Rescue | Chicago Fire

Firehouse 51 responds to a call of a residential fire, but things take a dramatic turn when gunshots are fired in the home and Otis is severely injured.
Season 6 Episode 15 "The Chance to Forgive"
The gunfire turns out to come not from a shooter but from the ignited cache of ammunition the family's teen son owns. Brett discovers her true feelings for Antonio Dawson but is disappointed when she finds out that he had been set up on a blind date. Also, Casey pushes Severide into showing his true feelings for Kidd. After the mother in the house fire dies, tragedy comes to the teen after criminal charges against him are dropped.

November of 1981, our first born son was a week old, hubby went on a weekend duck hunt. We had a border living with us and when she came home and went to her room she noticed that there was smoke coming out of the walls. I told her to gather what ever she could, I phoned the fire department grabbed a zillion receiving blankets and a few diapers, the baby and waited for them to arrive. When they did the first thing I told them about was my husbands bullet reloading room that was full of gun powder, bullets and primers. Thankfully it was an electrical fire, lots of smoke but no real flames.

The way Stella screamed on the radio... The fear in her voice..... My heart stopped when she got shot. So glad she and Otis are alive ❤❤( So sad Otis died in season 8😭😭😭)

Fun fact: the barrel of the gun is what makes the bullets travel so fast ammo in boxes dosent shoot if its lit on fire it just exploses the shell casing and has little to no velocity in comparison to if shot with a gun, it probably would just went about a centimeter in or even less. My dad lit a box of ammo on fire as a kid and im here to write this comment because yeah some of the bullets hit him but they just left bruises😂 idk still very dramatic tho its a good scene just fundamentally flawed

Yes indeed, but still dangerous. Even if the ammo is discharged without from a rifled barrel, it served well as shrapnel from a grenade. The only thing I question about is how can the rounds "Cook Off" so easily. Even though is a tv- series world, that fire on that house must be extreme hot. Remember always tell Emergency Services in situations like this. That there are dangerous chemicals or any dangerous substance who can explode inside buildings.

had that happen in my old home, had looked out the ammo for me and the guys hunting trip when our oven caught fire and it spread to the garage catching the box of rifle rounds i had looked out, i took a cook off round to the back of the leg as i was trying to grab the remaining boxes of ammo i had looked out before they went up in flames, told the fire fighters what happened, and they started on the outside, i kept track of how many rounds had gone off and as soon as the round count matched what was in the box i told them, they rushed in and put out the flames edit: got a lovely scar from it
